Darn I always forget that bit of dialogue. That's a nice interpretation though Beast.

And Leia remembers her mother due to the force. And because she was awake and her eyes open as an infant. unlike Luke

Yoda: "Through the force things you will see. Other places. The future, the past, old friends long gone."

Princess Leia: Luke, what's wrong?
Luke: Leia, do you remember your mother? Your real mother?
Princess Leia: Just a little bit. She died when I was very young.
Luke: What do you remember?
Princess Leia: Just... images really. Feelings.
Luke: Tell me.
Princess Leia: She was... very beautiful. Kind, but sad. Why are you asking me this?
Luke: I have no memory of my mother. I never knew her.
And I guess my general point is that if that people can (and will) create reasoning out of whole cloth to explain these parts of the movie that are left otherwise unexplained, then they can sure as hell explain how Qui-Gon appears to Obi-Wan prior to RotS.

(In other words, I'm agreeing with you. )

Well, I kinda like that it gives fans something to discuss and figure out.

I like movies that don't feel the need to spoonfeed you everything. Reminds me of good comics.

Meh, This trailer looks awful! The BDs are going to blow us away for sure though!

No freaking way Lucas didn't get Liam to do those lines. Via the script, it was only voice over work acting against a digital character. This is simply a drag and drop move for ILM to extended that sequence for a minute or two.

Here's the sequence:

On the isolated asteroid of Polis Massa, YODA meditates.

YODA: Failed to stop the Sith Lord, I have. Still much to learn, there is ...

QUI -GON: (V.O.) Patience. You will have time. I did not. When I became one with the Force I made a great discovery. With my training, you will be able to merge with the Force at will. Your physical self will fade away, but you will still retain your consciousness. You will become more powerful than any Sith.

YODA: Eternal consciousness.

QUI-GON: (V.O.) The ability to defy oblivion can be achieved, but only for oneself. It was accomplished by a Shaman of the Whills. It is a state acquired through compassion, not greed.

YODA: . . . to become one with the Force, and influence still have . . . A power greater than all, it is.

QUI-GON: (V.O.) You will learn to let go of everything. No attachment, no thought of self. No physical self.

YODA: A great Jedi Master, you have become, Qui-Gon Jinn. Your apprentice I gratefully become.

YODA thinks about this for a minute, then BAIL ORGANA enters the room and breaks his meditation.

BAIL ORGANA: Excuse me, Master Yoda. Obi-Wan Kenobi has made contact.
Really? I don't think it's needed in the movie.
Maybe a nice little deleted scene.

I honestly think it helps the audience come full circle again with Anakin, which is continued by seeing Christensen's Force ghost at the end of Jedi. Hopefully it gets added back into Sith.

Doubt it. His memory was erased after Ep 3, which is what Jimmy Smits tells the captain.

Yes, it was erased at the end of Ep3, when Leia was just born and handed over to Smits' character, so how would that effect his memory of Princess Leia whom he won't meet until she's an adult 20 years later?

Which was around 20 years before Episode IV. So your point doesn't mean much.

He wasn't protecting her as Anakin's kid, he was protecting a royal member of the House of Alderaan and member of the Rebellion.

He just met this kid after all. How does he know he ain't gonna sell them out to the Empire for a few space credits.

He even plays dumb when the hologram pops up, telling Luke to pay it no mind and that it was nothing but old data.

I think they did it more to tie up that minor hole in the story line, not like C3P0 really knew a lot anyway, Artoo is the critical one.

C-3P0 is too much of a chatterbox. Without the mind wipe, he would be blabbing about how Leia is Vader's kid to everyone.

C-3PO was not lying. At the end of "Revenge of the Sith" the order is given to have the droids memories wiped.

Bluyoda,

Of, I don't like being spoon fed either but this might be the one instance where dialogue might be needed.

As it stands now, it's a great thematic/plot point cliffhanger that only gets revealed once Obi-Wan is cut down by Vader in Episode IV.

The problem comes from how Yoda comes to tell Kenobi about it. It's just very left field. But, at the same time, I honestly don't know how Lucas could've come at this issue earlier in Episodes II and III.

I mean, we get the one meditating scene with Yoda in Episode II that hints at it. Sidious very, very vaguely hits at it in the turning scene in Episode III in his office...but even still, it's just left field how Yoda comes to Kenobi with new training while on exile.

Who knows? Let's say Lucas got Liam Neeson to actually do voice-over work for Episode III. That doesn't necessarily mean he's going to use the dialogue I posted above. He could script entirely new lines of dialogue.

Either way, I do like the way it is in Episode III and how it leads to Episode IV. I just wish there was a smoother transition to get to said moment between Obi-Wan and Yoda....

It's just a hard issue that I'm sure Lucas also recognized.

*Facepalms* 20 Years Ago. He knew who Princess Leia was in ANH, because he's a Protocal Droid of the House of Organa.

C-3PO: "They'll be no escaping for the Princess this time."

C-3PO even sees R2-D2 getting the data from Princess Leia before they escape. You know, when he finds R2-D2 in the hallway.

He knows who she is when she appears in hologram. He just doesn't tell Luke this. Probably due to his programming.

After all, Princess Leia was a member of the Imperial Senate and was also secretly a member of the Rebellion.

C-3PO would likely be programmed to not divulge knowledge of Princess Leia or that she was on board, if the ship was stopped by the Empire.

OK, with the huge news that Liam Neeson is doing the voice work for Qui Gon on the Clone Wars cartoon series.....I'm just speculating BUT with this news I wonder if there is also now a chance on the Star Wars blu-ray set coming out that Liam Neeson would have come back and finally did the voice work for what was supposed to be in AOTC and ROTS!??? One can hope.

It's certain possible right now. And it's been discussed. But only Lucas, Neeson, and Lucasfilm know for sure now.

They can probably keep the same dialogue for AotC, since it's just Qui-Gon shouting "Anakin, Nooo!"

But given some of the other minor tweaks Lucas has done to the series, it's certainly possible for him to change it also.

And how would having his memory wiped BEFORE he ever met Leia effect his memory when he met her 20 years later?

Wow.

Yeah. That was my whole point. They wiped his memory cause he was a chatterbox who knew her parentage.

It wouldn't prevent him from meeting Leia later, so he'd know who she was. Especially when he works for the House of Organa.

Well, the Force is unusually strong with the Skywalker clan; perhaps it was easy for Anakin to figure out once he turned from the Dark Side. (Not to mention IIRC Obi-Wan was there in spirit to help him.)
