No, no, no - gazing longingly at Natalie Portman is only creepy when we do it.

Particularly if we're watching The Professional at the time.

20 Years Before The Battle Of Yavin - Revenge Of The Sith

3 Years After The Battle Of Yavin - Empire Strikes Back
4 Years After The Battle Of Yavin - Return Of The Jedi

So Anakin is between 45-46 at the time of his death in Return Of The Jedi.
Yeah, the ages of Obi-Wan and Anakin bounce all over the map, depending on when you ask. Way back when, Obi and Anakin were peers and Vader was a separate (younger) character. When he combined Anakin and Vader into a single character that was Obi's apprentice, the ages had to change. And then they changed again in Episode I when he made Anakin into a little kid (to make separate from his mom more traumatic) and made Obi-Wan younger, after giving most of Obi's role to Qui-Gon.

There's essentially 3 different age timelines and they really don't match up now in the "official" one now that the films are all done. Just one of those things you have to ignore. When you look at Anakin unmasked in RotJ, he's clearly not in his mid-40s. And Obi-Wan is not only 20 years older from RotS->ANH.

Just one of those things...

Wow, no comments over this?

http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/01/20/li...ars-exclusive/

Or wild fanboy speculation over deleted scenes from ROTS, or how he would never do this because Lucas sucks?

I'm surprised more people aren't putting their foot down and insisting on the unaltered original 3 being released.
This worked for fans of The Lord of the Rings releases.
I guess we are all far too familiar with George Lucas' way of doing business by now!

No, it didn't. The plan for LotR all along was to do the theatrical editions with a few fluffy supplements and then release the extended editions later with tons of extras.

It's the exact same plan they used with DVD. "Fans" had nothing to do with it.

I'm in the crowd that very much wants the original trilogy (non-SE) released in 1080p. But I'm also a realistic person. Even if EVERYONE who felt that way boycotted the BD release, it wouldn't even make a small dent in sales.

It'll get released when/if someone in charge at Lucasfilm decides it should. There's no way in hell any of us can put financial pressure on Lucas to do so. Come on.

I thought it had been mentioned. I don't mid it sort of gives Obi's expression of surprise to Yoda at the end of RotS an added meaning. Like 'You too? I thought that was just a dream...."

I'm not sure that's entirely true.

I agree that the people who feel strongly enough to boycott are a pretty small group but the people who would like to see a release of the unaltered OT might be a fairly sizable chunk. People who don't care one way or the other are almost certainly a solid majority but I tend to think the 'yeah, that would be cool' crowd would make more than a small dent.

And of course the 'well, hell, put everything in there and drop it to $30 on Black Friday' contingent is huge.

We may get another release of the theatrical editions, but not any time soon and there's no reason to assume we'll ever get them in HD. The only reason Lucas included them as extras in the DVDs were to show people the "rough drafts" of the newest editions of SW.

See, Lucas doesn't want us to see the OOT (Original OT) as SW. He wants us to forget that Han shot first and that Tatooine isn't Jurassic Park. The only way he'll ever give them to us is strictly as a "history lesson" in the evolution of the SW series.

Unfortunately, people aren't looking at them and saying, "WOW! Can't believe SW was once like this! What crap!" as Lucas seems to think.

You either want to buy them when they come out or you don't. Certainly nobody in this thread can pretend to not know that they were coming.

Also: did the "fan" trailer give you an idea what the official transfer was going to look like? What sound format? What extras? So somebody cut a bunch of footage together that was more appealing to you. But it didn't do something: it didn't tell us a darn thing what we already didn't know.

Get the point?
You have a life? My god, how old are you? Anyways, yes I see your point. However, he was entitled to his opinion, and your post was indeed missing his point. You talk as though you are on a payroll for Lucas Arts. Lighten up. He liked the fan trailer more than the official one. He accidentally said the name Lucas, when he should have been saying "Lucas's yes men". Feel free to pm me if you want to go into this further.

Frankly, it's exhausting to read all of these posts trying to defend Lucas. I really hope he is paying you guys well.

For the rest of us, opinions are still free and I plan on expressing mine.

Agreed; we will likely never see the originals in HD. After all, didn't Lucas put the originals on that DVD release a few years back from a remaster done for the laserdisc? A friend and I skimmed through them and frankly they looked like garbage. It was obvious they released it as some sort of jab to the fans if anything.

But. But. Lucas made these movies. They belong to him. Get it? He could wipe out the entire OT and replace it with remakes that simply go along with the PT seamlessly and he'd be WELL within his rights to do so.

It's his true vision of SW. Who are we to deny that?

/sarcasm

No, but seriously. I believe the newest version of the OT to be inferior due to the distracting, unnecessary changes, but I still love it since it's still the same trilogy.

C-3PO even sees R2-D2 getting the data from Princess Leia before they escape. You know, when he finds R2-D2 in the hallway.

He knows who she is when she appears in hologram. He just doesn't tell Luke this. Probably due to his programming.

After all, Princess Leia was a member of the Imperial Senate and was also secretly a member of the Rebellion.

C-3PO would likely be programmed to not divulge knowledge of Princess Leia or that she was on board, if the ship was stopped by the Empire.
No doubt.

Exactly! That's what I always say. The people who endlessly complain about the terrible plotholes and whatnot have probably never watched the Saga with their brains switched on.

Really cool, especially the 2nd part! I got goosebumps!
Thanks for posting!

I would love if Lucas had ILM redo all the simplistic computer graphics in the OT (on the monitors....). It would take them a a couple of minutes, and would make everything so much cooler!

Yeah, for me too. That's why I still haven't seen a single Clone Wars episode.

They were both that of how they were when they entered the spirit realm. There is no reason for Anakin's ghost to be that of a young Anakin. The best solution would be for Hayden to play all of Anakin's parts (except the youngest one, for which he is too old).
Dear, oh dear! Obi Wan, nor Yoda ever turned to the dark side, but Anakin did, so when he became one with the force, he took on the appearance of when he last was a Jedi.

Yep, Anakin couldn't have been cast originally in the OT, but now that we have a young Anakin, they should use him in all the shots, although I am pretty happy the way it was in the 2004 version.

Me as well.
Although I have no problem skipping most of AOTC and about a third of ROTS. Just embarrassing acting and writing.

And seriously, why did Grievous cough? I could never figure that out. Did a droid have a heart issue? Was he a chain smoker?

If you saw the animated Clone Wars mini series, you would see that Grevious was damaged by a Jedi during his attempt in kidnapping Palpatine.

Commentary hinted it was more of a 'phantom limb' type thing and that the process of linking brain to the mechanism wasn't quite perfect IIRC.... though the first animated Clone Wars series had Mace's crushing as the reason. Neither are quite mutually exclusive.
