If Dooku hadn't cut his arm off the idiot would have lost it on Jedi poker night or one of those swishy doors would have cut it off.

While I'm not the biggest fan of Lucas's ever changing "original vision", I do hope the blu-ray will at least remove any traces of incest between Luke and Leia.

There are no traces. All they did was kiss a couple times. There was never any real attraction or relationship.

Not that I have a sister, but I can tell you right now if I did I wouldn't be kissing her that way. That was not a "nice to see you" kiss, that was a "I'd kinda like to hook up with you" kiss.

Quote:
Luke: "So what do you think of her, Han?"
Han: "I'm tryin' not to, kid."
Luke: "Good."
Han: "Still, she's got a lot of spirit. I don't know, whaddya think? You think a princess and a guy like me..."
Luke: "No."
Luke says "good" because he wants her. He says "no" because he doesn't want the competition. That and the smirky "how'd you like that?" look he gives to Han after he and Leia kiss all add up to it being far more than just a family greeting which makes Leia's "I know. Somehow, I've always known" line in ROTJ paint a very different picture of the scenes prior.

I wouldn't be for cutting it out as Monolithium states but it's always seemed a little weird to me, especially with the revelation of Leia in ROTJ which indicates she did it with the subconscious knowledge that Luke's her brother.

I wouldn't worry about the Luke Leia relationship its harmless after Cammie (who seems like hard work in the deleted scenes (but I don't blame her after that weird guy keeps pawing her)) this is the only other girl in the galaxy and she's a princess. Jackpot!

No wonder hes got stars in his eyes.

The smirk after he's kissed is 'how about that loverboy?' I don't think he thought they were getting married. The 'somehow I've always known' is slightly weird....

This thread is about the films as opposed to the EU... which is just a few degrees removed from Fan Fic. No matter how much Lucas or anyone else would like to spin it.... in ANH Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader were two distinct and different people, one of whom physically murdered the other.

If you know, he hadn't turned to the Dark Side destroyed the Jedi Order and became Darth Vader and such.

As for the other part, Obi-Wan had planned to give Luke his father's lightsaber and been a part of his life earlier.
But Owen was against it, because he blamed Obi-Wan and the Jedi for what happened to Anakin.
I agree with this, however Is there any side story where Anakin and Owen spend more time together? Its not like they knew eachother any longer than a day. They aren't related by blood.

I don't think Owen would give 2 craps about what happened to Anakin based on what is seen in the movies.

Also, I know it is considered non canon (and for a good reason even though the actual story is sick) but that one where Maul comes back as a half robot to kill Obi-Wan on Tatooine. Maul is about to kill Luke and Owen when Obi-Wan comes and defeats Maul instantly (I thougt that was cool becasue it shows how powerful Obi Wan has become since his match with Maul). Anyways the exchange afterward has Owen basically saying "Thanks but no thanks, We don't need YOUR help, get off my land..." that shows the ill feelings Owen had towards Obi-Wan and possibly the jedi in general. Which is why Obi-Wan tells look things like "You uncle feared you'd follow 'Old' Obi-Wan on some idealistic crusade" and "Thats your uncle talking".

Perhaps Obi-Wan had similar encounters with Owen during his time on Tatooine and they were both not fond of eachother. Which is possibly why Obi-WAn in ANH seems to be Mocking Owen when he says the line about Luke following him. Perhaps it is something Owen said to Obi-Wan? Also keep in mind that Obi-Wan is not telling Luke everything to protect him (as per the story, originally this wasn't the case).

From what I understand, Owen doesn't even know what a Jedi is. LOL. Could be wrong though. I don't know much about information that isn't in the movies.

Episode II suggests otherwise. Considering he met Anakin, who was a Jedi. And Jedi were pretty well known Galaxy wide.

And come on, seriously people. There's years of the timeline where we don't see. Especially between E3 and E4.

Regardless of how one feels about the EU, some of it does add information that fills in those gaps.

Though any vital information is still detailed in the films. Including why Owen feels the way he does.

The post RotJ EU is where it really goes off the rails. Since the other EU is restrained by the movie info.

The Half-Robotic Maul is a Star Wars Infinities story. It's non-cannon stories. Like Alternate Realities in Marvel or DC.

Wrong. It's perfectly legal to do a fan edit as long as you don't charge for it or claim ownership. If you put it up on YouTube, it's legal as long as it's not supported by advertising and you're deriving no income from it.

If the original content owner objects, sites like YouTube will generally take it down because that's the easiest way for them to avoid any legal liability under the law, but even that doesn't mean it was illegal in the first place.

It's not perfectly legal in any way, shape, or form. And neither is it morally right.

I use to keep up with the fan editing community as I found the community fascinating. Lucasfilm allows it to a degree, and Lucas has commented on it saying he finds it interesting. As long as you walk a fine line they don't interfere, either. I have always been of the opinion that it falls under fair use. Anyone who hasn't seen the film will go and buy or rent a legitimate copy and not a fan edit. And the truth is most people stumble upon fan edits by accident. So they aren't looking for them in the first place. Sadly, bootlegging films has been around long before fan editing and fan editing doesn't aid in bootlegging growing. Lucasfilm themselves have contacted the creator of the first major known fanedit "The Phantom Edit" and they had kind words. These fan editors do not upload the original film, and as I said most people would rather have the original. Fan editing is just a fun little experiment on the side. The edits themselves usually only float amongst a group of faneditors. Its like a group of indie editors really. Bootlegging I don't agree with. Fan editing studio controlled films I also don't agree with, because the studios have clearly made their point towards fan edits. Fan editing of Star Wars I am ambivilous towards. Lucas owns the rights to those films not Fox, and as long as Lucas remains ambivilous towards fan editing his films I shall too. If he ever comes out and says he doesn't like it and would like the fans to stop I will support him and I will completely disascoiate myself from it completely. I hope that come out right. I may have jumbled my meaning up a bit.

This is completely inaccurate. Every word of it. All you have to do is read the FBI warning before the movie to get a basic definition of copyright infringement law. It is illegal to "copy" and "alter" and "distribute," amongst other things, material that you do not own the copyright to, regardless whether or not you are profiting from it.

If you are not the copyright owner, it is illegal for you to post it on YouTube unless you have written permission by the copyright owner.

Quote:
According to the Motion Picture Association of America's website, "Anyone who sells, acquires, copies or distributes copyrighted materials without permission is called a pirate (http://www.mpaa.org/contentprotection/types-of-content-theft)."
Not one word about not profiting from the material making it legal.

Even if the edits aren't "right", they're still really good.

Adywan's insertion of Imperial March was fantastic. He even added in a bunch of extra tie fighters so the battle on the death star looks more epic. Just imagine what this man could do if he worked for a film studio!

LOL that's hilarious, especially since the expression on her face much resembles that of "Kevin" from Home Alone when Michael Jackson peeks in.

I would love to do fan edits on several films, including bits and pieces of the prequels. For example, I could do without that "how did this happen?" line when they are caught in the energy field at the start of ROTS. And I always thought the gag where R2 fights off the little droid on the Jedi Starfighter would have worked better if they cut out Ben and Ani's advice.

However, doing so is a limited endeavor. What makes fan edits often so hard to watch- though Attack of the Phantom has some seamless changes- is that you only have limited resources to do so. For example, you only have the footage in film, and not hours and hours worth of footage recorded or, in the case of AOTC and ROTS, you don't have the complete score to work or the proper ADR sessions or even the raw takes. All you can do is crossfade and wipe.

Plus, it's just a lot of time spent on something that is not even your movie to really even edit.

I wouldn't mind seeing what the IMAX cut of AOTC was like. I heard it excised a couple of the more tedious and even sometimes embarrassing moments, like Anakin falling off the creature and playing dead. I understnd why that moment was there in the first place- to show the two flirting and having a good time, therefore, building a romance. I'd rather see it than the "sand" line earlier. I also heard they removed the boring Naboo council meeting and the "It's not fair" line. I wonder how well that particular version plays.
