Since Lucas refocused the film on Anakin, he had to sacrifice certain extraneous plot points relating to Attack of the Clones. Lucas had previously promised fans that he would explain the mystery behind the erasure of the planet Kamino from the Jedi Archives.
I thought it was obvious that Dooku erased the planet from the archives. Since only a Jedi could erase the planet from the archives, it's obvious it was Dooku who was conspiring with Palpatine to create the clones. Jango even admits to Obi Wan that it was not Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas who hired him as the clone template, but a man named "Tyrannus."

"I was hired by a man called Tyrannus off one of the moons of Bogden."

Palpatine explicitly states to Dooku at the end of Attack of the Clones, "Welcome home, Lord Tyrannus."

How much more explicit can it get?

I also always viewed the very existence of Order 66 as a wonderfully subtle revelation that the clones had been Palpatine's grand design to begin with. The Order 66 sequence is almost like Palpatine's confession where the viewer finally makes sense of the purpose behind the whole Clone Wars.

There are things I would change in the prequels, but some of the criticisms I see are not really fair. This being one of them.

One thing is certain about all of this... there's a damn good reason why JarJar Binks wasn't in the original trilogy.

...and no reason why he should have been in the prequel trilogy, either!

The Han bit would have been really stupid. Would have felt like out of place fan service. As for the latter, it would have been interesting, but I kind of liked the ambiguity of the whole thing. Gave us fans something to ponder about while Palpatine was talking to Anakin at the opera.
Same here.

Often when I read criticism on the PT I get the feeling that they never actually watched them, or just once, didn't get them and started hating on them.

Or maybe the critics just didn't like them...which is also a possibility.

I agree with you Bluyoda I don't understand the criticism of the prequels or the special editions of the original trilogy. I like the prequel films and to me the special editions of the OT I think improved the films yea their are a few things in the SE's I did'nt like but overall it's still the same films as they have allways been. The criticism of the prequels I don't get but to me they are good not great but good their are a few things that I did'nt understand in the PT but their not bad films at all. Why both the fanboys and critics continue to bash the prequels and the SE's of the OT I just don't understand.

Some people "bash", others are just discussing the PTs. I for one do not like the PTs story-wise (I won't rehash my criticisms since I've posted them throughout this looooooooooooong thread), but on a more general level I love them since they are Star Wars.

It doesn't make me a "fanboy", a "critic", or not a "true fan" (whatever the hell that means). I'm sure there are plenty of movies I love that you don't like. I won't knock ya for it.

So, I'm watching ESB last night in the bedroom, btw I highly recommend this movie for insomniacs. If the this movie doesn't put you to sleep within 10 minutes, nothing will. Anyway, I get to the part where Luke is in the Wampa cave, he gets his saber, cuts off the Wampas arm and runs out. I'm thinking, what a wuss. Instead of finishing off the Wampa and staying out of the elements in the cave, he runs out like a chicken shit. If it were Anakin, he would have finished the Wampa off and wore the skin to keep warm. No, instead Luke runs out like a dumbass and ends up in the belly of a Tauntaun. I can see Han saying, "Now, what did we learn" after stuffing him in there.

A New Hope is better for insomnia. That film puts me out like a light.

It's almost a struggle to get through it anymore. It's the one film that loses rewatchability with each viewing.

Just want to make sure we all note: it is okay for you guys to "bash" the OTs, but it is not okay for anyone to "bash" the PTs, and we "don't understand them" if we do...

Ok, got it.

Oh, here's another one. Luke says while attaking the AT-AT's, "This armor is too strong for blasters." Instead of saying, "But wait! I have an X-Wing parked right behind that hill over there that has proton torpedos...let me go get it" after that, he brilliantly decides to use "tow cables." No wonder the Rebellion got their asses handed to them.

It's bashing them to remark that ANH often makes me fall asleep? It's not like I hate the film.

Well, not to bash the PT (but since some die hard PT fans are taking shots at my beloved OT...ahem..), if we want to total things up in film history as to which trilogy had more cultural signifigance and which one is more a joke we need look no farther than the Oscar to Razzie total. So, I guess if you prefer your films to be in league with Hallie Barry's Catwoman then the PT must be high art.

New Hope: Oscars: 6/11, Razzies ineligible (wasn't around)
Empire: Oscars: 2/4, Razzie 0/0
Jedi: Oscars 1/5, Razzies 0/0
Phantom Menace: Oscars 0,3 - Razzies 1,7
Clones: Oscars 0,1 - Razzies 2,7
Sith: Oscars 0,1 - Razzies 1,1

Just playin' around, take this as a joke guys. If you prefer the PT its cool, I like it too.

I'm starting to wonder why in the hell didn't the Rebellion all use cargo ships like the Falcon since it was the only ship that could stand up to the awesome power of a Star Destroyer. Not only could the Falcon take several hits from an SD, but it could also get hit by asteroids and not blow up, as where an SD gets hit by one asteroid, and it goes down. And, it takes a fleet of SD's to try and catch one Falcon...imagine if the Rebellion had a fleet of Falcons. Just dumb!
