Sure Vader knew. He was trying to do the exact same thing (have Luke kill the Emperor and become his apprentice). That's what Sith do. They treat each other like a rich guy does a trophy wife: they use the other for as long as they're useful and are always looking to upgrade.

I just tried watching the Phantom Menace for the first time in a decade and tapped out at the introduction of Queebo, or whatever its name is.

This film is complete garbage. It's just terrible.

As to the inconsistencies cited above, how about this: Lucas is bad.

Queebo? Hm. Watto?

Just wait until you see "Dexter" in the 50's restaurant with his ass hanging out. The aliens in the PT are the funniest EVAR.

Yeah, I agree. I just didn't think Vader knew for sure. I mean, it was his idea that Luke join the Dark Side in the first place... You would think Vader wouldn't tell the Emperor that he would be a great ally if he thought that Luke would join forces with Sidious and kill him.

Lates.
If you have read those and feel like someone is wrong in their claims then you should post so that we can all benefit from your knowledge. Coming in and basically saying, "ur all stupid," does nobody any good.

You're absolutely right. But this guy has 3 posts this year and thinks Michael Bay is a good director, so he might not be back to support his asinine comments.

That's pretty funny!

You know, as much as I can pick apart the Star Wars prequels and complain about the problems with them, they are all still MUCH better than the second Transformers movie.

Did they get a replacement for Tarkin? Or were bridge officers to scared of Vader to forward their resume? On the Grand Moff Tarkin thing I think he plays the part of the big bad wolf (with Luke, Leia and Han as the three little pigs) because (and this is for Star Wars nerds only or people who use Wikipedia) he'll Wilhuff and he'll (Wil)puff and he'll blow the Rebel Alliance base down.

Unfortunately they built their Yavin base out of brick....

I always saw Vader as the Sith representative of Palpatine and Tarkin as his military arm with a bit too much ambition, besides they had admirals who could command the Empire's fleet of Star Destroyers.

Tarkin is the equivalent of a noble, like a Barron or a Duke. That's how the Moffs were set up to be in the SW universe.

The Moffs are like the providence governors of the Roman empire. Since the massive expance of Rome was too large for the emperor to manage on his own, those governors controlled sections of it and reported to the emperor. But as we all know, the providences often marched against the capitol, sacking the city and replacing the current emperor with the general/noble that assaulted the city with his troops.

Tarkin is put in charge of overseeing the completion of Death Star, but the emperor puts Vader close by because he doesn't trust the guy. He's worried Tarkin will march against Courscant with the most powerful weapon in the universe, so he keeps his sith watchdog at Tarkin's side.

It will be interesting how he's portrayed in the upcoming Clone Wars episodes. It it was nice to see Peter Mayhew have some input into Chewbacca character as well.

I kept expecting to see Biff Tannen walk in during that scene and say "Hey, Kenobi! I thought I told you never to come in here!"

I just realized that just as Obi-Wan doesn't recognize R2 on Tatooine, Vader doesn't recognize Threepio in Cloud City at the end of ESB.

Which is why the PQs are non-canonical.

Along with the following line-

"I have something here for you. Your father wanted you to have this when you were old enough, but your uncle wouldn't allow it. He feared you might follow old Obi-Wan on some damn fool idealistic crusade like your father did."

I suppose an argument could be presented that Vader knew it was Threepio but given his different direction in life in those days, simply chose to ignore him. Or maybe he didn't know it was Threepio as all protocol droids look the same. It's just that he sounds and looks identical to the robot that Vader built to "help his mom".

I noticed that at the end of ROTS, Threepio's mind was wiped but not R2's. Perhaps R2 should tell Luke about all those adventures with Ben and his father?

well given that EP 4 establishes very early on there are other 3PO droids, it's not like C3PO is not the only one.

And...

Vader stopping Boba from firing on the outraged Wookie in the carbon freezing chamber so 3PO would not get any more blown apart.
