And I still wish Lucas hadn't supplied the force with mediclorians (might have spelled that wrong, sorry). I get what he wanted to say with that (God / Mysticism are infused with nature and therefore are scientifically explainable), an interesting idea certainly, but the way it was written, unfortunately, stripped the force of the mystical element that imbued the Jedi as this cult of mysterious warriors.
Pretty much my feelings as well. I enjoy TPM a bit more than AOTC, but feel exactly as you do about the PT as a whole. Whatever shortcomings in dialogue and acting that are present are made up for in spades by the visuals. And the Avatar comparison is spot on. That thought/comparison has crossed my mind also. I will be one happy camper when September gets here.

I like the prequels as well. Are their some flaws in them in terms of the acting and everything else in the films yes but for me they are enjoyable films. The hate for the prequels is too much but you can't please everyone. Just look at the prequel films that are there and not the films that are not there. I will be a happy camper with September get's here and all 6 star wars films on all blu-ray in one big nine disc box set.

We don't have any firm facts yet about what scenes deleted or extended will be included. The Luke and the Lightsabre scene should be included plus the excised PT scenes from the DVD's (we presume). All Lucasfilm Ltd have said is that these won't be the Ultimate Editions because they're finding new stuff everyday.

I've only seen OT deleted scenes in fan documentaries and still versions from the 2004 set. So I'm looking forward a great deal to seeing any new/old footage.

On the Jerseyal1976 thing I can't believe the Mods deleted my posts they were some of my best rebuttles.... Maybe he did indeed work on the Blu-rays and Lucasfilm Ltd have had him 'disappeared'?

I also was dissapointed with that. I worked hard to find and post the custom cover art that he used, but oh well.

If I was lucky enough to have a job working for GL, I wouln't take a chance on getting fired(or sued!) by him just to excite some nerds on here (i.e.-me!)

I have a couple of quiz questions to ask my fellow star wars fans.

HERE GOES:

1) What household item was used to simulate snow for special effects shots on hoth?

2) Star Wars was released in may 1977. How many types of Star Wars action figures were on toy store shelves at christmas time 1977?

3) A member of what diminutive race find's Luke's cut-off hand and lightsaber?

Totally guessing, but:

1) Baby Powder

2) None (I think I remember hearing that they ran out, and had to give vouchers.)

3) An Ugnaught

Re: 2. They didn't have any figures ready at all. But wanted to get something on shelves for Christmas. Hence the "Early Bird Kit".

They sold a mail-away voucher, a cardboard stand, and such for next spring/summer for R2-D2, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, and Chewbacca.

http://www.starwars.com/vault/collecting/20090317.html - For Pics. I don't have the original. But I have the 25th Anniversary Wal-Mart Exclusive.

You got 2 and 3 right.

1) Baking soda

2) They received empty boxes with vouchers in them so they could get the figures in spring of 1978.

3) Ugnaught

Well, I got the 1978 calender that year and I sure was happy as a clam.

Actually, the very first items any of us were able to get that was Star Wars related, were those wonderful 'Wonderbread cards' that everybody was carrying around the schoolyard that fall.

While I've known about this early bird kit for quite some time, I'm just a bit younger and I wasn't actually around when the original film came out in theaters, so I didn't get to "experience" this early-bird kit dilema.

However, I was around and at the right age when Return of the Jedi came out, and I had (and still have) several of the toys from it (including many figures, the Millenium Falcon, Ewok Village, and a few other things).

And I actually (in a round about way) ended up with a Christmas "I.O.U." with my Jabba the Hutt!

"Santa" got me Jabba the Hutt (amongst other things) which I did receive Christmas morning, along with his platform that he sat on, etc. However, most of the small parts (like the knobs that attached to the platform, and some other things) were missing from the box.

So, my mom must have written a letter to Kenner, and they sent the missing parts. And so my mom gave me this plain brown box with the parts in it with some letter from Santa apologizing for the parts missing when I got the item at Christmas. Back then I didn't suspect anything, but of course I figured it out years later.
