From what we know so far, the deleted scenes will be seperate from the films.

I doubt he's going to cut those scenes back into the film. It's just cool to finally see them.

The one I'm looking forward to the most is the C-3PO "Wampa Room" scene from ESB.

Just about every other director is doing it, Spielberg did it with Close Encounters (and I'm sure he'll do the same with E.T. when it's finally released on blu), Coppola did it with Apocalypse Now, Scott did it with Blade Runner, and hell, even Friedkin did it recently with The Exorcist. Lucas on the other hand is the only one who still thinks he's above everything.

And how are the newer versions superior to the original cuts anyway? Sorry dude, but spiffier and more modern looking does not mean better. And if you actually buy into the whole "It complete's Lucas' vision" nonsense then I almost feel sorry for you. As somebody else pointed out yesterday, the revisions have nothing to do with Lucas completing his vision, but with his own obsessive compulsive tweaking. And it's not just Star Wars, he's done the same with THX-1138 and American Graffiti.
I'm still wondering why people think it's okay to change movies after they've already been made and released.

I mean, I'm all for restoration and stuff like that. But taking stuff out, putting stuff in, changing music, adding and altering entire scenes?

And still after all of these changes, you should still respect the original work and the people that fell in love with it. I realize some people can't help their impulses to go back (GL, Spielberg, etc.) but at least some of them don't ignore what started it all.

And I'm still wondering why people think it's not okay. So I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

I guess they should ignore Stanley Kubrick's wishes and restore the original ending of The Shining also, eh?

That doesn't even make sense. How are you paying the same money for less stuff?

Lucas shows contempt for the films that made him rich. Without the UOT there would be no money for special editions, no ILM, no Skywalker Ranch, no pent up demand for prequels.

Calling the UOT "inferior workprints" is like saying, "Everyone who paid good money to see them (and made me a gazillionaire) are a bunch of suckers."

So, I'm not saying that GL doesn't have the strict legal right to do whatever he wants. I'm saying that those of us who saw the original a dozen times in the theater between 1977 and 1978, camped outside a theater in 1980 and 1983 to be first to see the sequels, disagree rather wholeheartedly that these versions are "inferior workprints." Inferior workprints don't play continuously in first run theaters for an entire year (as ANH did when it was just Star Wars). They just don't. And they don't turn their creators into multi-millionaires.

Maybe we should say to George, "Hey if those flicks were so bad that you need to hide them away from the public, then you were knowingly selling us a defective product back in 1977. I think we're entitled to a little of that money back."

But it's not hypocrisy to not like the new series, or to vastly prefer the old series to the re-imagined revamp. I'm not cherry picking anything, I'm just saying that for me....regardless of Glenn A. Larson's signing off, I prefer the old series.
Likewise, all that many Classic Star Wars Trilogy fans are saying is that for us...regardless of George Lucas' tinkering and revisions, we prefer the original movies.

Your still out of your freaking mind.

1. That's not what you said.

2. If you honestly prefer that cheesy, boring attempt to cash in on Star Wars mania over the vastly improved, mature and riveting new series, then yes, your opinion is not to be trusted.

There's a difference. The Special Editions arn't an entirely new movie. They're the same exact films with a few tweaks.

Regardless, if the creator decides to remake something, or signs off on somebody else remaking it, thus extending the "artistic lisence" to the other party to do so, then the same basic rules should apply.

You paid your money to enjoy a viewing of the movie. It doesn't matter how much money you spent on movie tickets or merchandise, you recieved entertainment or product for those purchases. It doesn't give you ownership or stock in the films. So it's a downright silly argument. It would be like going into a restaurant and demanding something that isn't on the menu, simply because you ate there before and deserve to have it your way no matter what. And your last point is just as silly. Again, you enjoyed the films as they were at the time. Lucas as the creator and the artist always had problems with what couldn't be achieved at the time. So when technology was advanced enough to fix the things that bugged him, he did. No big deal.

I don't see anybody asking for the original 70mm release of The Empire Strikes Back either, idiot.

Yes. I honestly prefer the original series. The new one is just boring.

And the Human Cylon thing was just lazy in my opinion. Just an excuse to not use the very cool Cylon designs from the old series.

I liked the Cylon designs from the original. As well as things like the Imperious Leader and especially the Lucifer series robots.

And who doesn't love Boxey's dog Muffit!

Exactly. They're no different than the original versions. Just percieved different due to a few tweaks.

How can you write "intent"? That's crazy! You can only read what's posted. OOYFM.

Ha, you believe that schtick, that's adorable. I'm sure the technology didn't exist to get the band from a cheap wedding to do a song for Jedi. Also wrestling is real.

Are you retarded?

This is what you posted:

Quote:
You mean that modern series that isn't even worthy to carry the name? Bleh.
How am I supposed to read that any other way than "The new series sucked."?

I didn't misread anything.

Your intent was to shit on the new BSG and I called you out on it and now you are trying to backpedal and say that you simply meant that you "preferred" the original series.
