1) Bill Shakespeare to George Lucas is an excellent comparison...; and

Because all those things happened in R&J.

Default Enhancing Effects for the Blu-Ray Release

I´m still a little worried the effects will not be revised for the Blu-Ray editions of the movies. This Variety-article is about John Knoll and is job of converting the saga to 3D. Variety claims Knoll said that there won´t be any changes made to the visual effects for the 3D release and therefore for the Blu-Rays...

"Knoll said there are no plans to add or fix visual effects on the movies. Over the years, Lucas's digital tweaks on the original trilogy pics have generated pushback from fans."

I still can´t imagine that Yoda won´t be turned to CG for this release... just as an example.

It sounds to me like that only applies to the 3D releases, I find it hard to believe the HD transfers won't be different from the most recent DVD sets.

Ok... what I meant with the "Romeo & Juliet" comparison is that Romeo and Juliet are star-crossed lovers falling in love at first sight. The same thing applies to Anakin and Padmé ...

I doubt that they will make Yoda CG in Empire and Jedi. Maybe in TPM.

Frankly, I hope that if nothing else, they redo the lightsaber special effects in the OT. As much as I do want the unaltered OT to come out, if the only version that we are getting are going to be the one with all of the updates, then they really should fix that. Those effects stand out like a sore thumb compared to most from the original versions, and for whatever reason they've remained largely untouched in the past 2 sets of revisions (unless you count the color timing issues of the 2004 release which made them look even worse).

Romeo > Anakin

Something tells me if Juliet was aware of Romeo's murdering little kids, whining all the time, terrible delivery of lines, etc., she wouldn't have fallen in love so quickly.

If you ever get that time machine finished perhaps you could take a quick trip back and make the same suggestion to Mr Lucas.

I wonder how many times Shakespeare had to revise his plays after they were published...

Scholars did find an early outlline in which Romeo fell in love with Juliet when he was five. In the margin are hand-written notes believed to read "Jesus, this is stupid, what was I thinking'.

That's amazing! What a great little bit of trivia.

They met ten years earlier though, granted he was less of an idiot but he was a little boy. Love at first sight isn't a term I'd use to describe their relationship.

Huh?

(PS Yes, I can suspend disbelief, as I've done all these years. )
Losing the deleted scenes with Padme's family hurt that movie so much. There's a little moment where she gazes out of the window at Anakin which speaks more for their relationship than any dialogue scene could ever do. Those scenes have a very different vibe to the rest of the film though, a warm family feel which is at odds with the more clinical CG environments. They seem to come from a different film entirely.

Hey, don't forget that Tolkien changed how Gollum got the ring in The Hobbit so it fit better with his upcoming LOTR books. If the internet was around then, eh?

Love doesn't have to make sense, sometimes you fall in love and there's no logic or reason behind it at all. Padme and Anakin were star-crossed lovers, doomed once they fell in love, it works for me.

You wouldn't be interested in a once-in-a-lifetime real estate investment opportunity, would you?

Hehe, so true. I think what we've learned over the years is Lucas is a pioneer when it comes to special effects, and has good ideas for films, that's what he's best at, but is not a very good writer.

If you read some of the novels, or some of the graphic novels, you quickly learn that Lucas is actually one of the worst star wars writers out there. Some of those books are far better than all of the movies.

You dont realize it when you're a kid, you're just blown away by all this amazing stuff that you're seeing, but when you grow up and watch these films again, they still look cool, but the scripts suck. He should have stuck to what he was best at, working behind the scenes making things look cool, come up with the basic story elements, then leave the script to people who are actually good at that.

If they ever actually do the rumored episodes 7-9, or maybe a Knights of the Old Republic movie, I hope that he takes more of a backseat role. Come up with the story concepts, work on the look of the films, but bring in a great writer to work on the script. To me thats the only way to get a SW movie on the same level of quality as some of the novels.
