Thanks for the link, mate.
Gosh, I really can't stand James Cameron anymore. He is such an arrogant prick. Watched a bunch of interviews with him on Youtube.
I personally don't care for 3-D, but I AM going to see TPM in the theater in 3-D.

Yeah, I was looking for it again as well, copy and paste it to fool a UOT SW geek friend of mine. Seems like some of the mods here don't have a sense of humor.

Did you know that IG-88 had inserted his consciousness into the second death star, and was going to take control of it if the rebels hadn't blown it up? So either way Palpatine, Vader, and the Empire was doomed

Gotta love the expanded universe

This is news to me, where was this "genius" idea written?
Also, who's the "mental giant" that came up with this?

I can't remember who wrote it, but it was from an anthology book called "Tales of the Bounty Hunters."

I used to always keep up with the Star Wars novels and comics (I generally stopped when the New Jedi Order was starting). Some of it is pretty good, but I always hated the stuff that trips up the actual films. The worst for me was the "Dark Empire" comics, which brings Palpatine back and kind of undermines the finale of RotJ.

Doesn't Han's son become a Dark Lord of the Sith and Luke ends up actually joining the Dark Side of the Force in the EU?

Luke doesn't join the Dark Side, he tries it out a bit to see what it's like, he did it as part of his training to become a more well-rounded Jedi. Better than just avoiding it completely like previous Grand Masters did.

Lucas himself said he liked Dark Empire, which is one of the very first pieces of the modern EU (before the Zahn trilogy), where yes Luke willingly goes to the dark side to fight the Emperor's clone. It's a bit deeper than that. Luke thinks he can sort of martyr himself to save the galaxy and beat the dark side from the inside and not get in over his head, but he's wrong. Like the movies, it's sometimes taken way too seriously and over-analyzed by a small subset of fans.

Yes Luke did join the dark side. He started out just trying it out once he realized he could not defeat palpatine. He thought that learning it only to become more powerful was the only way to defeat palpatine, but it consumed Luke and before he knew it he was willingly following the emperor and planing to overthow him (as all Sith do). I always thought that Anakins fall would be similar and in a way I guess it was, I just find Dark Empire to be more of a powerful story than the PT.

It's not a bad story at all, I just didn't like bringing Palpatine back from the dead. It undermines Vader's sacrifice at the end of Jedi, IMO.

Anybody ever read The Crystal Star? That was by far the absolute worst Star Wars book ever. EVER.

I tried posting about "The Analog Bits"'s campaign for Star Wars on Laserdisk --fully noting that it was Bill Hunt's unobtrusively obvious Apr. 1 joke, and making no pretense of my own at deception (and he'd included a link to the "real" site for those who didn't want to play along) and the mods killed THAT thread as well.

Normally, I'm in favor of such sweeping zero-tolerance policy, but c'mon, can't we appreciate works of art when they're done professionally by responsible adults?

Luke thought he was sooooo good and powerful that he joined Palpatine so he could eventually defeat him, but he found he was neither that strong nor that good and became corrupted by the Dark Side.
Leia made him turn back to the Light Side.

I stopped reading the EU around book 5 of New Jedi Order when i realized that the story was going to take years to tell before the conclusion.

I don't think so. One, the clone may have been lying and two, even if it wasn't it was quite insane, and three Vaders sacrifice is for his redemption, which is epic all on it's own. Yeah it's nice to have "happily ever after," but winning for his generation is also epic in it's own right.
