well, I hope they make a better job of the packaging compared to the DVD counterparts.
Remember waiting for the release of the original trilogy DVDs (that silver boxset) only to find them to have extremely inferior packaging. also I expected at least each film to have its own extra disc instead of what we got....something more special. thought there would be something along the lines of the Alien Quadrilogy which was loaded with extras per movie. |

Extremely inferior cases? How so? They were just your standard black plastic DVD cases.
Considering how much crying we see whenever one of the studios does something different, probably wise. And yeah, while it would have been nice to see a bonus disc for each film, what we did get more than was satisfactory. Last edited by Beast; 04-03-2011 at 06:10 PM. |

I don't care what the packaging looks like, I will have The Complete Saga on day one. I might even request a couple of days off from work and have a big party.
I love all of the movies. They are not perfect, but it's just a movie ![]() I am 40 years old and first saw Star Wars when I was 7 years old, and I would say it was definitely a major sign post in my life. There are pretty much three defining things like that for me: First seeing Star Wars (7yrs.) First hearing Rush:Moving Pictures (11yrs.)(I'm a drummer) First reading The Lord of the Rings (approx 12-14yrs) These were life defining things to me, but even with the things GL has changed, I still have very fond memories from my childhood(do not feel raped), and I still enjoy them all immensely to this day. In a weird kind of way, I'm actually a little excited to see if there any new changes that have been made to them. I love Star Wars, flaws and all! ![]() |

Shouldn't a frog love them warts and all, not flaws and all?
I hope we see new versions of all the films especially the prequels, George Lucas can edit some stuff out and put some of the excised stuff back in. Like Ridley did with Alien he made it shorter not longer. |

The package was pretty decent, double slipcase and four Amaray's. Compared to the piece of crap cardboard cases for the VHS it was a vast improvement. But you guys had to put up with cardboard VHS cases a lot more than us Brits! |

When they released the OT movies individually and included the original version bonus discs, the coloring matched that of the PT movies. What's sad is that as excited as I was to finally have the OT on DVD (as much as it sucks that they weren't anamorphic or remastered, considering that I only had pan & scan VHS tapes of those movies, it was still nice to get it), part of what excited me was the fact that when lined up on the shelf next to the PT, all of the movies would have a consistent color scheme. I even went out of my way to separately buy the bonus disc from the fullscreen version of the OT box set from a 3rd party seller on Amazon just to get the packaging in gold to match up with the rest of it (the disc is formatted the same... they didn't make separate full and wide screen versions of it, they just changed the coloring of the packaging to match whichever version it was coming with). I also have the "Story of Star Wars" bonus disc (which is in a separate DVD case) that came exclusively with Episode III at Wal-Mart when it was first released. Yes, I'm a dork when it comes to packaging! I do hope that the packaging for the Saga Blu-Ray set is more or less like the first DVD release of the OT packaging in terms of each movie getting it's own individual case inside of a slip box. They could just put the bonus discs in a 3-disc Blu-Ray case or something like that. Even though I like slip cases, I do like having each movie individually represented on the shelf. I HATE digipack packaging for movie series for this reason. I also hate digipack packaging in general just because when you get into sets of 5, 6, or more discs, it just becomes a royal pain to unfold everything just to get to a disc.... so I don't even care for it for TV show season sets (even though for those sets I don't need each disc represented separately since I count a season as one thing). I felt so relieved when I got all six movies on DVD lined up on my shelf with the gold lettering. That silver/gold thing bugged the hell out of me too!
Never went as far as getting the gold letter version of the extras disc, but now that you mention it... |

I had the 6 disc 6 set for the OT last Christmas and it's still silver. It's seems the only way you can get the silver is by getting the individual movies! |

Yep, I had the silver OT boxset. I bought the separate LEs when they came out to match the gold spines of the prequels. Sold the silver spine versions. Still got the silver trilogy box itself and the bonus disc.

What Lucas said in THIS discussion is that they never got the CGI Yoda to really work in 2D. Hereīs the quote: "... We could never get Yoda to look right in that digital space in 2D. Once you saw him 3D it became real."
Now does this speak for or against further enhancements in the Blu-Ray editions? |
