Well personally, the main things I want for the Blu release are...

1) Fixed lightsabers on the classic trilogy (they look "blended" on the DVDs).
2) The best high-quality video & audio presentation currently possible
3) A more convincing dodge for Han avoiding Greedo's shot (unless Lucas reverses it)
4) Removing the visiable "boxes" from around the TIE fighters in FX shots for "A New Hope"
5) Somehow fixing Leia's "memory scene" in "Jedi", to reflect Padme's death in "Sith".

Other than that, my desires for this release are a lot less extreme than what some have asked for.

The exciting part is getting the Star Wars saga on Blu-Ray. That's all it's ever been hyped as.

People have been asking for the films on Blu-Ray since the format launched. And given how long the wait was before the films were released on DVD, it's a pretty big deal that they're coming this soon. I don't really get your point, given this is a Blu-Ray website after all.
My point is they've already been announced. And now there's a countdown to another announcement about the Blu-ray.

Are you saying they announced it and then they're counting down until the re-announcement? Yeah, people are excited they're coming to Blu-ray, but we already know that.

I agree with everything but 5. I mean, she was just born, and if I remember correctly, Padme looked directly at Leia, but not Luke.

They are telling us the specs, like if it's 7.1 or 5.1, probably give us a nice trailer or imagery of what will be included with the set, etc. And u never know what else George has up his sleeves??

That's because some people would b!tch if George Lucas parked a brand new Aston-Martin in their driveway with a trunk full of gold bricks and the original print of Star Wars in the passenger seat. There's no pleasing that select few.

The things I'd like to see:

-Fixed Lightsabers for the OT (make them like the prequels)
-Improve the cgi on Eps 1-3
-Make the EP3 sound mix like EP2
-Add subwoofer/bass to the lighsabers across all 6

High bitrates and 4k scans for EPs 1,4,5,6.

(I'm only referring to the SEs btw)

Yoda: "Through the force, things you will see. The future... the past... Old friends long gone."

Remember, that all Leia remembers seeing are images. Feelings really. She's seeing her through the force.
She's also awake and alert when born. Padme and Leia actually look at each other. Luke's eyes are closed at the time.

As others have noted, it's the reveal of the specs for the release. Which people are eagerly anticipating.

I don't think it's only a "select few" complain about digitally removing actors in films.

People here want to ***** about degraining film and DNR, but this kind of stuff is okay? It makes no sense to me whatsoever.

What if Coppola wanted to digitally remove Marlon Brando in favor of Robert De Niro for the Blu-ray? It's no different and it's equally ridiculous.

I hope it's DDTHD or DTS-HD 5.1 EX/ES.

(No 7.1 please).

I'm not going to get into the changes Lucas has made to the films themselves because that argument is older than Mickey Rooney at this point. There's no point in re-hashing it. I thought you were suggesting that people were going to be unhappy about what's on the Blu-rays as far as bonus content, audio options, etc.

Why? It would easily fold down to 5.1 for your system. It might even have slightly more directional detail in the surrounds, summed down. Why are you against a 7.1 mix?

Edit:You do realise that a EX/ES mix adds a 6.1 "matrixed" back mono channel instead of 6.1/7.1 discreet channel(s), right?

No, I was saying that people might be disappointed because this ostentatious countdown will probably be nothing. 7.1 audio might be nice, but it's obvious what the majority here really cares about.

I'm just saying that we probably won't get what we want. And that is ridiculous.

Many of us are getting what we want. The movies on Blu-Ray, as Lucas wants them to be presented.

I do have a 5.1 system and only picked it up last year, so it's a selfish (and silly) request on my part.

The thing with a 7.1 through a 5.1 system means the two rear surrounds would be dropped

At least with a "matrixed" mono channel I (and other 5.1 owners) wouldn't lose the rear channels.

No they won't. The sounds placed in those channels will just be folded over to the others.
