The covers look fantastic; the OG trilogy having the cooler cover. I'll be picking up the complete set, though.

When I saw the viral campaign for this I seriously got it in my head that maybe we'd get the untouched OG trilogy, but alas...

Edit: Like others have said I would've liked specs.

Fans will get an exclusive first look at some of the collection's extensive special features at this year's San Diego Comic-Con International -- which marks Lucasfilm's 35th anniversary as a Comic-Con presence. In 1976, the fledgling film company was looking for innovative, grass-roots ways to promote its underdog release, a film no one expected to succeed -- a space opera known (at the time) only as Star Wars. One of the first film companies to reach out directly to core audiences by way of fan conventions, Lucasfilm will return to the venue to showcase the full evolution of the epic story with a special first look at STAR WARS: THE COMPLETE SAGA ON BLU-RAY.

When is this event???????
I believe Comic-Con usually happens around late July.

I want specifics.
So you knew all the specs ahead of time? Time to go play the lottery.

Jesus Wept. What did you want them to do? Start streaming each one of the discs so you know every tiny detail.

It was a specs list reveal. That's all it was planned to be. Some people clearly have unrealistic expectations.

That'd be nice. But, I just checked the product page and saw that they listed the audio specifications (which is all I honestly cared about). Been behind on the whole Star Wars BD thing.

That original poster is so much better and reflects the dynamic adventure aspect of the story.

I bet the back of the box is the reverse shot - we see Luke's face and the kid's rear. Although someone posted that the packaging is actually lenticular and changes as you view it - so maybe it's better than it seems.

I think the packaging is consistent with what's happened in the films. When Lucas used practical sets and analog special effects techniques, they were great, but when everything became digital CGI, it killed the spirit. When artists used traditional tools and ideas to create the marketing posters, they were great, but now that anyone with Illustrator and Photoshop considers themselves to be a designer, they sort of suck. So the separate sets look like ransom notes and the big set looks like an illustration by a cheap publisher who bought a license from Lucasfilm to make a low-budget children's book.
Couldn't agree more with this.

They're going to set up a projector at the event, show only 6% of the promo reel and then demand that everyone call their friends to attend if they want to see the rest.

6 hours later, all 3.5 minutes will be shown.

Right, it was just your basic garden variety, plain vanilla press release.

With its own pre-press-release press release and online countdown timer.

Unless they change that atrocious box art for the complete saga, I'll be buying the trilogies individually.

Is it unrealistic to expect a complete list of what is on the bonus discs? (Well, YOU will probably think that it is, but you seem to go out of your way to be contrarian to the majority opinion anyway, so there's no surprises there if you feel that way).

I mean, really, depending on how you look at it, the technical specs really aren't anything that amazing or exciting. It's pretty much par for the course for a Blu-Ray release being 1080p and all that. That's like announcing that water is wet.

While I didn't expect them to specifically state if any more changes are being made to the movies (and if so, what they specifically are) or anything like that, a complete, detailed list of what exactly is on the discs would have been nice.

Yes, we technically got that for 7 out of 9 discs. But let's be realistic. Other than the picture and sound specs and what commentaries are included, there wasn't going to be much else to announce for the first 6 discs. So the real "meat and potatoes" of any surprise aspects of this announcement was going to fall primarily on the shoulders of the bonus discs. And they managed to screw that up with 2 out of the 3 of them.

The only real new info that we got of any significance was what is included on disc 9, and the cover art for the different sets.

Pretty much everything listed was what I already expected to be in the set. It clearly said "All will be revealed" and not much WAS revealed. Nothing is "unrealistic" about it. It was a very lacking "specs" list.

Here is what I would want:

1) Info and names of the deleted and expanded scenes, for each movie.
2) Info on which versions of the movies themselves will be on the disks for example: Does Han shoot first? Is TPM going to have full CGI Yoda?
Are the lightsabers color corrected FINALLY in the OT!!!?? Did Lucas do any new tweaking?
3) I'd also like a documentary on the restoration and blu ray transfer.
4) Where is Empire of Dreams?
5) What exactly does "and much more" mean? I want SPECIFICS.

No. "All" was not revealed. Not even close. The whole thing was a sham as far as I am concerned. This whole "Share to Reveal" was utterly idiotic. When it finally got to 100% it was nothing more than still shots with music and sound effects. WOW, how impressive....

Just Wookiepidied it and you are correct. George Lucas said it was but his "continuity-referee" Leland Chee said that is is NOT the same ship. I think that is stupid as it really links alderan and Bail to Alderan and Leia in the OT, but not my call. Anywho, different people interpret Sat Wars in different ways and to me it's the same ship because George designed the story that way.

But in Official Cannon it is NOT the same ship

What's funny is that you actually answered that question. I think a lot of people know that. But still, art is art, whether "authorized" or not. There is no correlation between fan fiction and fan art Beast. The two are not the same.

No matter. I was actually answering the inquirers question with a question of my own, yet you failed to understand it. The fact that there are countless artist conceptions out there, some better than the image asked about.

I actually know who created that "3PO Silhouetted" Star Wars poster.
