And no, no way I can live without Star Wars for another 4 months. I'm gonna start again with The Phantom Menace this weekend. And I plan to watch all six the week before the BD release.
I love "Star Wars" too, ever since I saw the original in the theater in Oct. 1977 (I was living in the UK at the time). But, I honestly have not watched any of the movies since the DVD release of "Revenge of the Sith". I will probably do a "Star Wars" marathon shortly after the Blu-ray release though.

My least favorite movie is "The Phanotom Menace" (largely because I find Jar Jar so friggin annoying). But I am not a prequel hater. For example I think "Revenge of the Sith" is a better movie than "Return of the Jedi".

My favorite movie is (no surprise) - "The Empire Strikes Back"

Another question for everyone here... How many of you have held off watching any of the films waiting instead for the Blu release? I'm coming up on 8 months since I've watched one and it's killing me, in a good way though. It will make the Blu release even sweeter.

... and yes I plan to go total nerd for the weekend of the release and have a SW marathon.
I haven't watched them in a year or so, because I am eagerly anticipating to experience the Saga the way it was meant to be seen, apart from the theater, on Blu-ray!
DVD is joke, and SW deserves the best of the best, therefore I decided long ago to wait until they get released on BD.
I cannot wait!
This is going to be so wonderful!
Star Wars on Blu-ray is a dream come true!
I can't believe how many of you still watch them on DVD.

SOOO true! That scene was fantastic. I love all the films but out of all the PT the Phantom Menace is easily the most watchable. Probably because it reminds me of Return of the Jedi (last 40 minutes of both films are amazingly similar). However, the worst of the bunch is ATOC imo. Its a good movie but as everyone has said already the romance was really badly done and kinda hurt the film overall. Revenge of the Sith was badass though.

Attack of the Clones is my fav of the PT.Quick question for uk fans. Will AOTC be uncut on bluray? The dvd (Rated PG) cut the Jango Fett headbutt in ' 02 but Scott Pilgrim showed a headbutt and that was a 12

I am one of those, yes, we do exist, who love AOTC!
It was my best cinema experience, and I completely get the romance.
AOTC is pure magic to me!

I can't say it's my favorite, as they all have a very distinct mood and feel, which makes them hard to compare to one another, but I do love it with all my heart!
Some of the most beautiful scenes of the entire Saga are found in AOTC, and the approaching downfall of Anakin was killing me.
Seeing them getting married, where he gives her his metal hand was send shivers down my spine, as did everything after Yoda's infamous: The shroud of the dark side has fallen. Begun the Clone War has.
Oh, not to forget Count Dooku's Solar Sailer!
Oh, and the Geonosis!
Oh, and Naboo!
Oh, and Kamino!
Oh, and, well everything else!

My sentiments exactly. The Phantom Menace was decent (mainly because of Liam Neeson) and Revenge of the Sith was entertaining because of all its action, but Attack of the Clones had such an unbelievable romance. I still think Hayden Christensen was the worst casting choice Lucas ever made in his entire career.

Attack of the Clones is without a doubt the worst Star Wars movie ever made. It is the thorn in the side of the prequel trilogy. Hate Hate HATE.. Attack of the Clones. The other 2 are pretty good, decent anyway. Clones is pretty much a mess from beginning to end, save for the Kamino stuff, of which could have been better, and the Space battle with Fett, which could have been longer, I friggin loathe that movie. It doesn't exist.

So are we confident that they'll get the video right this time? The last time the original trilogy was released on DVD it was... Lacking. Are they re-doing it, or simply taking a higher resolution of what they "fixed up" the OT to last time?

I'm praying that it's the former. If we get the same dreadful colour timing from the 2004 DVDs it'll be a real kick in the nuts.

As for Clones, it really is the black sheep of the SW family. I love the last couple of reels, but I'd happily take two hours of Jar Jar rather than the cringe-inducing "romance". The sad thing is, the most touching scenes with Anakin and Padme aren't even in the damned film! But there is that completely redundant droid foundry sequence - good to know ol' George had his priorities right. (Same goes for the drawn-out Obi-Wan/Grievous chase in Sith which could've easily been trimmed to leave space for the 'formation of the Rebellion' scenes.)

I mean the extensive use of muppets which makes all appear a little lifeless in times of CGI. Also, Endor might have looked a little more exotic.

Poured through pages and pages of this thread, couldn't find it. Does anyone have a high res version of the horizontal piece used in the complete saga cover art? With Anakin and Luke on the right and Obi-Wan riding in on the left?

What do you think can be expected from Blu-Ray Discs 7 and 8? I hope those will be the real special features.

I mean Disc 9 appears to be the rest which didn´t make it anywhere else. There are no features about the Prequels and no real in depth features about the movies on that disc.

I'm not quite as confident as I was pre the most recent release of info (5/4). So much of that info was simply a rehash of what we've seen previously. Make no mistake, I'm glad it's being made available, but I got the feeling reading all of that stuff that we may just get blu ray versions of the '04 release. I definitely hope to be proven wrong. Time will tell.

AotC is easily the weakest of the six films. As others have stated, the film rests on the love story between Anakin and Padme, and it is quite clear that there is little to no sexual chemistry (or chemistry of any kind) between Portman and Christenson. You would think they would have done numerous screen tests with Portman and her leading man to find the right guy for the role, considering Anakin's whole turn to the dark side is dependent on believing their love story.

The other big problem is the characterization of Anakin himself. It is true that Luke Skywalker was a very "whiny" character, however, whereas Luke came across as likable, Anakin does not. If the Anakin of AotC had been portrayed closer to the Anakin at the beginning of Revenge of the Sith, it would have gone a long way toward making his character more sympathetic and thus his fall from grace that much more tragic. Think about the buildup to Frodo finally succumbing to the corruption of the ring at the end of The Lord of the Rings. All three films were building up to that moment and it succeeds in two respects; it was a gradual and believable character arc for Frodo that makes sense while still managing to be shocking, and it was the epitome of tragedy. Revenge of the Sith still works as a tragedy, but it could have been that much more powerful had Attack of the Clones succeeded in making the audience fall in love with Anakin.

I think a large part of why AotC feels lost, narratively speaking, is because George Lucas was lost. Whether he will admit it or not, I think he was disappointed at the critical response to TPM and adjusted his game plan as a result. AotC comes across as a cheesey fanboy film at times because it appears the film was written in an effort to appease such fans.

The other problem I have with the film is the cinematography, editing, and music. Don't get me wrong. Some shots of AotC are quite beautiful. But overall, everything feels off, visually speaking, when compared to the other five films. The editing is not nearly as refined or polished and makes a mess of an already messy plot. The deleted scenes of the OT, TPM, or even RotS don't really improve the narrative, so-to-speak. However, the deleted scenes in AotC really would go a long way toward improving the story. I've already stated previously in this thread how big a disaster the musical score is in AotC. A large portion of its score is lifted directly from TPM, not even rerecorded, and slapped together and mangled by the sound editors to fit the scenes. If I could change one thing about the prequels, it would be for a complete original score by John Williams in AotC. However, most fans seem to be content with what they got, so this is basically an "in your dreams" kind of wish.

All in all, The Phantom Menace does a great job of setting up the prequels. Revenge of the Sith does a great job of closing the prequels. And AotC provides a heavily flawed bridge between the two films.

I agree though, RotJ might just be the weakest of them all with Ian McDiarmid's performance being the ONLY good thing from that one.

I really wonder if we can blame the actor's bad acting, or was it just maybe bad lines that they had to read instead, such as Harrison Ford's in RotJ, as I do not believe that any actor could have saved that mess of a script.

Spot on, greg. The hacked-up music is another aspect of Clones which annoys the hell out of me. Ben Burtt can suck my left one.

I don't agree about Luke, though. I've never really liked the character because all he does is whine his way through two films and then become really boring for the third one. But because the OT has the feisty Leia in one corner and sarky Mr Solo in another - not to mention Darth Vader in full, er, force - Luke's whiny nature is papered over.

By making Anakin such a snivelling little shit, Lucas was simply repeating what he'd done a couple of decades earlier with Luke, which was his intention. The trouble is, there are no PT characters with any charisma to distract us. No Leia. No Han. No classic Vader-style badassery from a lead villain. Just Natalie Portman acting like she's been tranquilized, Ewan McGregor's fake beard and Ian McDiarmid not being able to cut loose until it's too late. And so Anakin's incessant moaning takes centre stage. Bad move, George.
