For those of you who have ever been in combat, you know that you bond with your platoon and know things about them that even their own parents don't know. Here the Jedi have been fighting alongside the clones for three years, facing life or death situations, and in an instant that was all over. The look of betrayal on Ki-Adi-Mundi's face was especially heart breaking, as was Yoda dropping his cane and grabbing his heart. Truly one of the best scenes of all six films, in my opinion.

watch the clone wars tv show and you may change your mind. The clones of the clone wars series would not mindlessly take just any ol' order and carry it out like droids.

It has always been my opinion that Lucas really didn't want us to fall in love with the characters in the prequels as they all get killed or die. Could you imagine if Luke, Han, Leia, or Chewbacca had been killed? All of them? Anyway, yeah,,"Order 66" was very well done. Greaat infact.

The only official canon I recognize is the films. Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith do a great job of painting the clones as nothing more than manufactured humans and machines of flesh and blood. You think it is a coincidence that Obi Wan first visits Kamino witnessing the manufacturing of clones and then Geonosis witnessing the manufacturing of droids? George Lucas made an explicit parallel between the two scenes to drive that point home. Order 66 is proof that the clones were nothing more organic robots designed to blindly follow orders. It also fits with one of the major themes of Star Wars of nature versus industry. Ultimately nature will trump the unnatural.

I enjoy the Clone Wars tv show, but as a separate entity related to the films. The only reason they gave the clones more free will and personality was to generate more storylines for the show, despite the fact that it conflicts with the symbolism of the clones in the films, in my opinion.

Love that scene too. What really makes it for me is the heart-wrenching music - as with a lot of scenes in Sith - and I'm sooooo glad Johnny Williams was able to knock it out of the park with this film, after the crapshoot which was Clones.

My other favourite PT scene is the Obi-Wan/Darth Maul showdown in Phantom Menace. It's expertly edited and deftly choreographed, a bewildering ballet of death and dismemberment. I love how Obi-Wan's readying himself before the fight begins, puffing out air and bouncing on his toes. Adds a terrific touch of realism. Speaking of which, there's no digital doubles or any other CG interference either (at least not until Obi-Wan ends up down the shaft). Best laser-sword fight in the whole damned saga. The OT ones beat it for sheer emotional intensity of course, but for athleticism and skill it can't be topped. Love it.

They were conditioned to follow orders though. Even if some developed more and more individuality with time.

But the "Order" commands superseded all other current operational commands. Including those issued by the Jedi.

It wasn't that they mindlessly followed orders. Just that it was one of standing emergency orders.

And since it came from the Supreme Chancellor, with his correct command codes, the clones followed them.

By the way, while not stated in the films... the wording of Order 66 is as follows:

Order 66: In the event of Jedi officers acting against the interests of the Republic, and after receiving specific orders verified as coming directly from the Supreme Commander (Chancellor), GAR commanders will remove those officers by lethal force, and command of the GAR will revert to the Supreme Commander (Chancellor) until a new command structure is established.

Never thought about it that way. Love how there's always another layer to be uncovered with the SW films! I dig the TV show though, and if anything it makes the clones' betrayal all the more powerful when it does arrive. Their personalities are alluded to in Sith (e.g. their names are mentioned) so it's not like the TV show portrayal doesn't fit with movie canon.

I know what you're saying about them blindly following Order 66 even though they've built up these close relationships with the Jedi; it doesn't seem to fit. BUT I've always thought of O66 as some sort of genetic good/bad switch, implanted in the clones from the very beginning. Their creation was instigated by the Sith, after all.

In AOTC, the Kominoan tells Obi-Wan about the clones, "They are totally obedient, taking any order without question."

That's how they were engineered. So regardless of getting to know their Jedi comrades, their personalities nor their personal relationships are going to supersede that.

Sure. But the clones themselves become much more aggressive and, well, evil after the order is given. Tem Morrison's line readings are far more menacing.

As far as they knew, they were killing traitors to the Republic. So it came off as simply far more serious rather than menacing, IMHO.

Exactly. A key line of dialogue that people forget, especially when referencing the whole emergency command explanation, is that Palpatine tells Commander Cody, "The time has come. Execute Order 66." This gives the impression that Order 66 was something more than just an emergency plan for a "what if" type scenario. Order 66 was always a part of the plan. The clones respond to the order without explanation, hesitation, or protest... something even the most trained soldiers in America wouldn't normally do given such a radical command. In the end, they were no better than battle droids but immensely more efficient.

One of my favorite scenes too, remind me of the similar scene in Godfather. I think the fact that the Jedi and the clones were very close adds more tragedy to it, so the clone wars TV series enhances this. Code 66 is like a switch implanted in their head that once activated will change them completely. They're not natural born, they're clones engineered as such way as requested by Palpatine.

Just because it was difficult to create doesn't mean it's 100% awesome. Don't want to start anything, but it just looks plain. Anyone can throw images together and call it cover art. Plus, I've seen similar attempts countless times.

Just saying...

Hey, can someone answer? Will the Episode IV-VI package have 3 individual full-size Blu-Ray cases? Or will the three packs open like a book in the Back to the Future box-set?

I am starting an I only like full-blown Blu-Ray cases and hate box-sets... but really want to know what is inside as I have not seen those pictures yet...

Thanks in advance...
