So, I think any major changes like that in any of the OT are rather unlikely.
Plus he wears Han Shot first t-shirts on occassion

Now if they can just restore Sebastian Shaw to Jedi they will be all set and sell a ton more of the OT box set than they will currently.

What is so wrong with Hayden being added to the end of ROTJ as the ghost of anakin skywalker? I thought it was a good change and it tied the saga together remember when he got burned up he died as darth vader now when he dies in ROTJ he dies as his good self anakin skywalker.

Default OT Changes

I don't understand the big deal with the few aesthetic changes that Lucas guy made to the old films. It doesn't really change the movie.

There are basically three very vocal types that make abig deal about it.

1) Collectors that do want to have them in their collections as they originally were seen in the theatre.
2) Those that want to relive their past youth buy having them as they originally since SW was such a phenomonen back then
3) Some people are just resistant to change.

I for one saw all he OT in the theatres when they came out. I like the SE changes so I do not rant about them.
But as a collector I would like to have the unalteretd trilogy. I wish they had both, but I can accept that at this time Lucas does not want to have them out.

However, my acceptance of the changes would be different if it were not Lucas doing them. I personally believe only changes/extended versions, etc should only be done if the direcor/creator of the vision are involved and approve. Although Lucas did not direct all of them he was the the wirter and creative influence and retained much of the creative control in their making.

I hated this change, there's no need to wrap things up in a little bow for audiences. Anakin didn't die at the end of RotS. He didn't die as his good self he'd only recently murder the Separatist's and a school full of Younglings.
Darth Vader was just a monicker Palpatine when he went over to the Dark Side, he gained a bit of redemption (there isn't any way-back once you murder children) at the end of Jedi by saving his son.

The shot itself looks awful. Luke had a touching moment with his father as he died in his arms, Seb Shaw just makes more sense to me, Obi-Wan, Anakin and Yoda standing side by side a equals for the first time at one with the force. Luke deserved to see the man that his father might have been not the man he was.

I like the changes made to the original trilogy for the special editions they tie all 6 films together and they improved the films. Why some fans complain about the SE changes to this day I will never understand. If you don't like the changes to the OT for the SE then don't watch the films. I like all 6 films and I don't listen to those complainers out their about the special editions of the original trilogy because all they do is complain and whine about it to this day.

The only change I brought up is the one of Hayden Christensen. He has no place in the film, in fact it even looks out of place because they did a bad job of the insert itself. Not to mention there would truly be a reason for selling seperate box sets. As I said I have never met anyone that likes the changes to the OT (with PT inserts) that does not like the PT itself. If you like the PT and the PT inserts in the OT you are going to buy the Complete Saga are you not?
I personally love the PT and I love most of the changes to the OT trilogy but I do have a problem with any filmmaker cutting out and/or adding actors long after a film has been released.

Personally, I was hoping Lucas would have taken the opportunity to shoot Hayden playing "old, scarred-up Anakin" at the end of Jedi while making Sith - if you notice, the scene between Luke and Vader after Vader removes his mask is all shot-reverse-shot OTS. All Lucas would need to do is replace the OTS shots of Shaw with Hayden. I think it would help the "out of left field" feeling some people get at the end of Jedi.

I am going to buy the complete saga on blu-ray and to me the changes made to the OT for the special editions made the films better why some fans can't see that I will never understand. Their is nothing wrong with those changes ok it made the films better with those changes. I never grew up with OOT when it 1st came out I was born in July 83 the year ROTJ came out so I did'nt see the films in the theater until 97. The special editions to me are the best version of the films. Are you going to get on me just because I like special editions of the OT?

That's something I'd like to see some day, but with the usual caveat that it's got to be done right. I don't have a problem with stuff getting replaced, but many of the OT do-overs have none of the spirit of the original performances, like the new Emperor hologram and Boba Fett voice in Empire, and of course the Hayden Force ghost at the end of Jedi.

If they use old Anakin he should be bald, scarred, and no limbs.

The point is yes, you prefer/know the Special Editions. Others prefer/know the originals. Surely from your perspective you must understand that some people are left not getting the version they want. When art is released to the public, the creator should relinquish some control over the art and accept that its impact and importance is dictated by the audience - releasing BOTH versions would make everyone happy and we'd get an accurate representation of the original release of some of the most culturally significant films of all time. The question of 'which version is better' is debatable, the attempt to erase historically significant art is not.

I've heard this story before bottom line is they are GL's film's he is an artiest and he can release them any way he want's to. No fan petitions are not going to make either GL or LFL change their minds on which version of the OT is released the special editions are the ones that are being released on blu-ray and I have no problem with that at all.

Congrats! This is the best answer on the subject.

Yes. We know you have no problem with this. We know GL may never sign up on releasing the originals. I'm just pointing out that saying you (or Lucas, for that matter) prefer the Special Editions doesn't mean that others do, nor does it make it right to revise history in an attempt to replace one version with the other.

Newsflash: people complain about things they feel strongly about, even if it's unlikely to make a difference (though I'd bet the UOTs eventual DVD release was down to negative fan response to the SEs). It's called freedom of speech, debate about the merits of what GL is doing but don't go down the whole 'why are you complaining, it won't make a difference!' route, it's ridiculous.

You can't understand that two people can look at the same changes and feel differently about them?

Is that truly beyond your understanding?

I'll probably get the OT only. I don't think I can justify getting the PT, which I will most likely not watch at all...
