I like the disc art. Each movie is part of one saga so they should be identical except for the titles, just like chapters in a novel.

Fair enough, but I think you shouldn't let some internet posters alter the way you feel about something. I mean, the internet is pretty much 50% porn and 50% *****ing about movies

Cheap on the art covers,
Cheap on the disc art (they look like coasters)
Cheap on the extras.

I don't consider myself a fanboy by any means, but if I am GL (forget the UOT debate for a moment), and I hold in my hands one of the most treasured franchises in movie lore, I would do anything to make them as presentable as possible, from the smaller details (cover illustrations, the level of which is lower than the bottom of a barrel), to the larger ones, such as extras.

If somewhere down the line there's gonna be a 3D or 4D or sense o smell BD release, so be it. But this certainly does not appear to be an "all out effort" by Lucas. People are overhyped by the very thought of the film being actually released, and they're banking (literally) that we'll all rush out and get it because it's "Star Wars."

Just because you think their cheap, doesn't mean that the general population agrees with you. From this thread, and similiar ones on other forums the cover choices seem pretty much a 50-50 split.

Disc Art hasn't been confirmed as official yet, we should get official confirmation at Comic-Con. Though I personally don't mind the simplistic approach to the disc art -- but then again I for one plan on keeping them either in their case or in my BD player so I'm not expecting much out of them. It's not like I'm going to be framing the discs and hanging them on my wall.

We've yet to get an entire list of all the extras, again we should get that at Comic-Con.

The only real gripe anyone has, is the bogus marketing strategy Lucasfilms took with All will be revealed back on May 4th, when pretty much nothing but the cover art was revealed.

Never. I have always said that I love The Complete Saga, and nothing or nobody will ever change that.

In many ways, and yes, switch your flamethrowers on, I think the PT is better, as the story is much more focused on the characters, but also the whole political issues looming like a dark cloud over the SW universe.
The story arc is so much grander and richer.
It really feels like you are on different planets, which rich cultures and everything.
Sure, it doesn't have as much "heart" as the OT, but that's due to the time they were made in, and we have already had 3 movies like that, so I welcomed a change, and a continuation, as well as the numerous other strengths the PT has to offer.
Still, many people count ROTS as their favorite SW film of the entire Saga, and it's definitely the most emotional one.
All of them are flawed, and quite a few OT fans view them with pink colored glasses...Well, nothing we haven't discussed before.

Regarding the disc art: In the end how often do you really look at it?

I don't know about you guys, but I take the BD case off the shelf, open it, remove the disc, and put it in the disc tray, which gives me about 3 sec. to adore the marvelous disc art. Sure it's nice to have something fancy, but it's nothing of mayor importance to me.

I really want to know what the interior of the box sets looks like.

Do you think it's individual cases inside of it, or sth. else?
I'd like the above best.

My friends are already eagerly awaiting the SW marathons.
Yes, I am going to have several.

And they're quite right. They could label the discs with a sharpie and 99.9% of people would still buy it. The other 0.1% would complain on this forum. I can understand complaining about box art, disc art truly doesn't matter.

On another note the Cover art is just dreadful and if that is the offical disc art it is uninspired. Too bad old Geroge just can't seem to get anything right with this release. Just wondering why there are a few posters around here who feel the need to constantly take up for GL. Wonder if they are on the payroll? Related? You would think so...

Has there been a more beloved or hated film maker than George Lucas? Who knows.... Disc art is the last of my worries. I just want it out as soon as possible.

you know, in a way, we are actually lucky to have all these different versions of Star Wars. it allows you to see the evolution of a film and what changes age/technology makes. think about it for a minute - what other film has all these different versions? the only one I can think of right now is Blade Runner and even that is different since all but the Final Cut were done around the same time. sure, they updated the original star trek series and the first movie, but the intent was to keep it within that 1960-70's look. with Star Wars, as technology changes, so do the movies. the battles are more involved since the computer frees up your moves, cgi allows you do to things you could have never done in the 70's. plus there are the changes in the feel of the film (han not shooting first, not showing people actually get hit by blaster shots, etc). it is very interesting that every generation knows a different version of the film, yet it is all still the same movie.

I do agree with what you said, but people are always going to have mixed feelings about digital enhancements as it were, especially when it comes to good ol' Star Wars.

1. Who cares if the disc art is plain and simple? Like BluYoda said, you see the disc art for about 3 seconds while putting the disc in the player. (I agree with you about the cover art, though).
2. What I always wonder is why so many people talk about George like he's Hitler just because they don't agree with some (okay, most) of his decisions about Star Wars.

If it's that simple then it's not a Complete Saga Edition. If he is going to cut corners on the disc art then I wonder what else he is cutting corners on. Half of those extras already seem like BS. He could be adding things like Empire of Dreams etc.

Sigh. Can't us Star Wars fans all get along? Probably not, since the debate will rage on forever. Wish Lucas would listen to us so that everything would be fine, or at least, it might be.

If that's what the disc art is fine, that's what it will be. Over here in the UK we have Disney and Paramount who still put out monochrome labels on their DVD's and we were lucky Paramounts Iron Man 2 Blu wasn't on an edible rice cracker. It would be nice to have some newly commissioned art but hey ho, that's the way it goes.

I posted these on the UK thread and I thought they'd look great as templates for the Blu-ray. They're from The Ultimate Edition of The Phantom Menace CD and look great in the flesh.

We have hit a new low complaining about 'disc art' on what appears to be a very obvious photoshopped rush job to help promote the blu ray release at a few Star Wars related events happening this summer. This seems pretty silly.

Best 3 posts of the last few pages. If nobody could complain about "disc art", or ANYTHING else here, this thread would die.

That said, I also agree that it could be just an early Rushed "Ad" for the show they had & we might get more involved artwork for the discs. If not, the World will Go On.

Like I said, it's only my opinion, and when it comes down to it, of course what matters is the quality of the films. But the more I thought of it, the more I began to suspect that they're holding back on the extra material, which I really believe they shouldn't.
