I wish! Good thing I am working on my CD, which is due this August, so I have plenty to do. The Saga on Blu-ray is going to be my reward.

Good ol' Star Wars. Still, I was actually expecting a May 2012 release, for it's 35th anniversary, so I'm quite happy for the release to be this year.

After much thought, I have opted to only order the originals. The prequel pretty much blows and my kid being 2 1/2 won't have to know that it even exists, so the DVD versions of these will suffice – I can say they were made for TV or something – or maybe after Lucas had a stroke. She'll be old enough to see the originals in 3D when they come out in 2015, 2016 and 2016. I was 7 when the original came out, so in a way that's kind of cool that my kid will be able to see it at the same age.

Next time Lucas should maybe try to restrain himself a bit on the CGI. Watched Revenge of the Sith just the other day and it’s amazing how cartoonish the opening sequence is. Yikes! I had forgotten that when I saw it in the theater. If stuff like that manages to get cleaned up I might consider the prequels, but man, it just doesn’t work.

Fair enough. Taste differs from fan to fan, which is evident quite a lot in this thread actually. But I think, at the end of the day, I will never hate a Star Wars film. Not from the original saga anyway, have yet to watch The Clone Wars, which apparently got worse ratings than The Holiday Special.

The quality of hardware saw a dramatic shift between these two films. HD camera's literally came of age between the two and the cameras today are even better. I think some of it may also be atributable to an attempt to soften the image and make it more film like.

I don't hate them, I just don't like the cartoonish CGI that was done. The first film in the prequel by far has the best look of the three.

The Clone Wars movie sucked, but the Holiday Special is definitely worse.

Thankfully, the actual Clone Wars episodes have shown to be better than its movie not just in writing, but animation too. There are some who argue that some episodes are actually better than the prequels themselves!

I'd actually say the opposite. RoTS was the best, followed by AoTC, then TPM, in terms of effects, the last 2 without that stupid puppet Yoda. I don't think the CGI was cartoonish, but we'll have to agree to disagree, really.

I prefer AoTC and RoTS to all of them. TPM was ok but there was not enough Darth Maul in it for my taste. I wish Jar Jar would have had more screen time and far more in AoTC and RoTS. I am drooling over any new extras that he can dish out with regards to the PT. I hope George can change even more of the OT to match the PT look including sabre fights etc. I am so jazzed for this release!

I can remember that George added a grain structure to the movies because he found the image too sharp, but not that he actually softened them. In that case I seriously hope he reverses that decision, I fail to see why a softened image would be more film like..

Well, if you're talking ratings, the Holiday Special got some fairly considerable Nielsens--
That's what a big ad in TV Guide could've gotten you, not to mention the heard-of-it-too "mystique" of seeing the then-"unknown" Star Wars mentioned on a mainstream TV show in 1977-78.
(And ftr, Bruce Vilanch also co-wrote the Star Wars cameo episode of "Donny & Marie", which was also considered the Holiday Special Jr. of its day.)

And then, of course, there's the fact that it was originally on a network in the TV-obsessed 70's--As opposed to a dying cable Cartoon one where everybody just waits for the Blu-ray boxset.
(And FWIW, the Clone Wars series IS pretty kewl for what it is--Or at least, as mentioned, it gets a lot better than the hideous pilot movie, once the plot gets rolling. )

I'd lol if The Holiday Special was included in this boxset, but somehow, sadly I doubt it's gonna make it in. Might buy The Clone Wars series on Blu, but lossy audio is bad though, shame on WB.

Um... So either you're now playing around with us or Beast has kidnapped your family and is forcing you to say this. Why the 180?

Do you think it's 100% sure that Yoda in TPM will be replaced by CGI? Do you think there is any chance we might get more of Hayden or any other characters from the PT put into the inferior OT? God I hope so. The OT needs to look more like the Prequels so everything will just flow better. ANH needs so much more work than the others though. That one is kinda boring compared to the rest of the films.

I was going to buy Clone Wars on BLU as a blind buy but yeah compressed audio only. No sale Esp when those were released. There was no reason at all.

Don't you think it would be great if Lucas inserted a scene into ANH where jawas are riding a creature in Mos Eisley and they fall off and swing around in a comical way? Sounds like a winner to me! How delightful!
