At the end of the day, we all have our views and opinions on this matter, and that's fantastic. Star Wars can be a very divisive topic.

Indeed. I mean, ANH is a bit boring, but I still like it.

Exactly. And those of us who don't adore every single frame of every single movie are fanboys.

Wait...

Come on people. Let's all just agree we love Star Wars, one way or the other, right? As I've said, Star Wars is just one of those movies that can be very divisive, but I think that's part of the legacy of it.

you don't have to like all 6 to be a true fan, or just the original 3 for that matter. it is okay to be critical of the movies if you have a legit point. I am a huge star trek fan but i think the last movie sucked; doesn't mean i am not a true fan? besides, what is a true fan? someone is 20 and someone else is 18 so the 20 year old is more of a fan than the 18 year old? it is just a label to make someone feel more important than someone else. how about we all just be fans and leave it at that. we don't need a disturbance in the force over this.

lol... i liked the films as a kid and i'll buy the set, but frankly I outgrew them in my teens. any fictional film/book series that has an actual religion based around it has gone wayyyy too far. i feel bad for those people.

The problem with trying to have a "legit point" when arguing films is that its 99.9999% subjective if not 100% subjective. Now, there are some consensus views and likes and while those carry some weight when arguing, you still can NOT really have a "legit point" when discussing films. Actually, I take that back - you CAN have factual points like the film has a blue hue to it, its 3 hours long, there isnt a lot of action, etc, etc. But most arguments are ALL opinion based. Just like which film is best. Thats a debate that will never end.

I personally rank TESB lower than the other 5 films and that drives some of the rabbid TESB fans just bonkers. But, thats the way I feel and it is NOT right or wrong - its just my take on it. Lots of people hate TPM or find ANH to be boring. Thats cool with me - no need to argue or chest-thump about it. Just roll with your opinions and dont worry 'bout it.

We are getting the most anticipated release EVER on the best format EVER..... the world is better off because of it. Lets rejoice!!!!

He made American Graffiti. He made the original Star Wars. For those reasons, he has my respect. But "respect" doesn't mean I relinquish the ability to think critically -- and there are things about Star Wars post-1983 that are, to put it mildly, "not above criticism".

Well said.

So what does everyone think the packaging will be like? Snap case like the Rocky blu ray set or more like the Alien and Avatar sets?

No idea, to tell you the truth. I hope it's something simple along the lines of the Trek film sets or the new LOTR EE set.

I'm thinking a slip cover with some sort of folding cardboard thing on the inside. I'm no case expert but that's just my first thought.

All I know is, that when the set is in my hands, I'll be holding the greatest Blu-ray release of the greatest movies (IMO of course) of all time.

you know, that is a really good question as the pics don't really show. i don't have the sets you mentioned but the Star Trek sets were good since they were individual slim cases. but i wouldn't mind horribly if they were like the superman dvd set(same ones for star trek remastered) - they are a little fragile but not horrible. I actually used to hate those old thick 4+dvd cases that companies used since they were so bulky. just as long as it isn't that glue crap that they used for planet of the apes (which company was that again???)

I would love for it to be like the ST set in slim cases, but am expecting some cardboard monstrosity like Rome or BSG. Rome is actually a pretty attractive set, but I would still prefer slim cases with individual discs - or even 6-disc Blu-cases like ST: TOS.

Each trilogy in a multi-disc snap case with their respective montage art and a saga slip case with the watercolor art.

Not sure where the 9th disc will go. They could put it in with one of the trilogies but a third case seems more likely, maybe slimline.

I admit ROTJ has some really bad parts, but it isn't THAT bad.

I sure as hell hope it won't be like the Avatar set, as I am actually going to USE the SW discs. A LOT!
I would also like individual cases in that massive slip box.

I was actually thinking about pre-ordering the individual box sets (123) and (456) box sets, just because I am guessing they will have better packaging. Who knows though?

Well the only downside to preordering them separately is that you don't get the three bonus features discs. But from the way people are talking it sounds like they don't want most of them anyway ahaha.
