An opinion isn't invalid just because somebody else thinks so. I've said it before, please let this thread not turn into what can often be seen on The Lord of the Rings EE's thread.

"Cover me, Porkins" - Brought tears of laughter when one of my friends mentioned the line. Good stuff, bring on this release....

Can I see the By-Laws for what makes a "true fan" that you seem to have written? I want to make sure I meet the criteria of "true fan" for the various films and franchises I love. I wasn't aware there was all these conditions and exemptions.

If it isn't too much trouble, it'd be great if we came back to discussing the actual release, and the films, not arguing about what constitutes a "true fan", a subject which is likely to divide many anyway.

I meant upcoming release lol. It'd be terrible if it was just trolling by Lucasfilm and Fox. I'd never forgive them, so having said that, seeing all 6 films on Blu-ray would make my day.

I saw all the Star Wars movies at the theater going back to the first one when I was a year or 2 old. My nephew was playing Lego Star Wars and didn't know the characters. He called Kenobi..."the old man". I decided he needed to watch Star Wars (Ep IV- A New Hope). He's almost 8. His sister was there too. She is 9. I put on the dvd. His sister didn't really care for it. My nephew liked some parts of it but didn't care too much for it. He was more into Transformers 2 the night before than Star Wars! Is it a generational thing? I was younger than him watching them and I liked them. I think he's seen one of the prequel trilogy movies and he's seen the Clone Wars cartoon. He kept asking...where's Anakin? I like Anakin!

Yeah it's a generational thing because it seems that most of the posters under the age of 30 or 35 can't seem to stand ANH (it's boring) even though it's the best one......of course they didnt see them in the theater.

From Wikipedia:
In October 1975, Steven Spielberg told the San Francisco Film Festival that "making a sequel to anything is just a cheap carny trick" and that he did not even respond to the producers when they asked him to direct Jaws 2. He told the audience that the planned plot was to involve the sons of Quint and Brody hunting a new shark.[6] Brown said that Spielberg did not want to direct the sequel because he felt that he had done the "definitive shark movie".

Your point is completely moot, and completely worthless, to say the least.
Try harder next time.
I disagree. What if Spielberg did direct the Jaws sequels, but they turned out exactly as they did? They would still be bad movies and people who appreciate quality would only be fans of the first film.

Your response would probably be that if Spielberg had directed them, they wouldn't have been so bad, but the reality is that we don't know. What if they were exactly as good as "The Terminal"?

I think the poster had it right. It is illogical to define a fan as someone who MUST like all six Star Wars films. However, that might be the definition of a fanboy.

And your closing comment was rude, immature and intellectually dishonest because you provided no evidence that his comment was moot and worthless. At worst, his comment was rude and worthless to you.

That was a JOKE, OK? Do you guys have no sense of humor at all?

Seriously! How come people take everything so seriously here?

You can really ask a dumb question like does C-3PO take a dump, and you can be sure people are going to discuss it for 10 pages.

Agreed Bluyoda insted of staying on topic and talk about the actual sw saga blu-ray box set release they get off topic and talk about some things that don't make sense.

Or when you try to talk about the pros and cons about what we know about the Blu Rays, you get attacked for worrying about "trivial" stuff. I would love to talk more in depth about the Blu Rays but unfortunately Lucasfilm hasn't revealed very much, let alone the specific technical details like what kind of restoration work went into the films (if any) for this release. You can't win either way.

I think it has more to do with all the exposure young kids have today to hyperactive media (not to mention the amount of carbohydrates they consume), which is why so many of them can't read - they don't have the patience. Look at how fast most films are cut today. Most action scenes have shots that are fractions of a second long. The first Star Wars was cut at a much slower pace and the story develops slowly, more like a good novel. So today's kids can't deal with it. Another factor is that with everything that's come since in both live-action and animated films, Star Wars is no longer all that unique a storytelling experience.

Frankly, I don't think it's so necessary for a young kid to see Star Wars. Think what it's actually about: war and murder of and by one's own family (oh, wait..maybe that's "The Godfather"). My 8-year-old grandkid recently got very into Harry Potter and is now reading the third book. But we won't let her see the movies yet because we don't want to disturb her mind's eye vision of how she perceives the characters and environment. We'll probably wait until she's read them all. Marshall McLuhan and all that.

Well, my relpy to your joke was a joke too, so...

Wouldn't it be great if they decided to release it even earlier, like 2 months earlier??? I know it's not going to happen, but one can dream, right!?

I hope we will soon get a confirmation about the films having been remastered or not....

I am convinced that TPM has gotten a brand new remaster, and probably the OT too.

AOTC and ROTS are going to look magnificent anyway, since they had digital masters for those all along.

Why can't it be September already??
