Yes indeed some people need to stop getting panicked about the blu-ray box set we don't know how the transfers are going to be yet.

Was that the assumption you made for the DVD release?

I didn't get the DVD release. And what I'm saying is, don't get too panicky over a release still a couple of months away. It's not fair to judge it based on these so-called shots.

Good, then you weren't disappointed in the PQ and AQ goofs. I didn't really look at the screen caps, and agree completely with you. The issue for me is that LucasFilms' track record with releasing top quality products, at least in regard to picture and sound, is lacking.

Lucas said this from the start, nothing's new.

OH NO, NO STAR WARS IN 3-D

sorry, the madness passed and i'm okay now. can't wait for 3d to finally die again and we can get back to seeing decent movies in 2d instead of crap movies in 3d(well in theory anyways).

Here are pictures from original SW in 1977:

RED AND SILVER instead of blue and pink in 04 release

I did not say that Lowry was responsible. But it was Lucasfilm that put the company under pressure to colour time the film in little over a month.

The LaserDisc transfer is hardly a reflection of how the 'original' Star Wars looked, either. The prints were in bad shape even then - the whole reason the red hues are so vivid was because this, and its ridiculously poor. The film was indeed bright, but matte shots - just like any film of the time - were awfully obvious and reduced the contrast/upped the grain dramatically. As has been explained, Lowry will have needed to gone back to the o-negs to do a 4K scan for the 3D version of the films. Therefore, they'll be using the new scans they and will have a new oppurtunity to re-time the films colour.

The fact remains though that no matter what the Star Wars films look like on Blu-Ray, they will never be a true 'restoration' because the clean-up/enhancements have gone beyond the original look of the film.

Please guys! How can you seriously discuss the upcoming BD transfer from some clips???

Also, there is a 3-D thread, so if you want to discuss that, it belongs there:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/movies/578...ml#post4856317

Let's discuss things that can actually be discussed like...........

Ok, who thinks that Padme's cut scenes (The creation of the rebel alliance) will be put back into the movie?

I'd actually like to have at least one of the deleted scenes of Padme at her parent's house back in.

Which scenes would you like to see become part of movie proper?

bluyoda I agree with you most of the time. But the transfer issue with OT from 2004 on the dvd's was a big issue among videofiles and continues to be to this very day those transfers had bad color timing , crushed black levels you name it plus the audio mix for episode 4 A New Hope was rushed. I am as excited as anyone for the blu-ray box set release of the saga but these issues with the transfers from 2004 have to be addressed for the blu-rays.

Well I for one would like just one change and that would be to remove Hayden from ROTJ. I hope Lucas will fix that one thing for the BD and at the very least keep these trilogies seperate as far as the actors are concerned

Until somebody gets their hands on ACTUAL BD copies of the films then I don't know why some of you are getting so worked up. We're still months away from release so I have no idea how anyone would have stills already. Something tells me these so called early captions are bunk. I know it's hard but we should all have faith and wait for the real thing before passing judgement.

Good point -RONIN- we should not be jumping the gun before the blu ray box set comes out.

You guys should expand your crusade into the LOTR Extended Editions BD thread.

It seems that people just want to complain for the sake of complaining these days.

I know it's very hard given the track record in the quality control department but we also can't forget the track record when it comes to SW haters and their attempts to derail the party parade.

I know & I can't understand how one gets so worked up about something they have no control over & something no one has seen yet

Well said -RONIN- I think LFL this time around will give us a quality product and the blu-rays will look fantastic. And as far as star wars haters goes I can't stand haters who make fun of star wars and pick on it. STAR WARS IS FOREVER AND SO ARE WE.

We can't be sure if the screenshots of Vader in the cockpit are indeed representative of the BD transfers, since they came from that short promo clip.

If the screenshots are indicative of the BD transfers, they look to be derived from the 2004 DVD release, and if true that image seems to have been "brightened" but the color issues (pink/red) remain.

Otherwise, we'll have to really wait and see for official information, but I have a feeling that won't come around until the actual release of the set (or possibly before if Lucasfilm sends out review copies to this site or others).

In what stage of production do we think the discs are right now? When would content be finalized and mass production begin?

This is my best attempt at a rational post.
