I just don´t see how the theatrical editions could possibly fit into the "Complete Saga" Set. It just my opinion.
By the way... art is not democratic. The artist has and should have the final word.
It is not selfish to also want the UOT.

I for one like the SE versions so you will not see me slamming them. But the context of his post was that he also wanted the UOT included in the complete saga. I have always supported that GL as the artist should have the last word.

That I agree with. As a collector and someone who saw them in the theatres we back when I would love it if the complete saga contained the all nine versions of the film PT/OT and UOT.

I will be hoping for a UOT collectors edition being put out some day. In recent articles GL seems like he might be willing to do that.

On the topic of Special Edition verses theatrical I continue to say it is Lucas right to do whatever the hell he wants and some people need to get over it. I wish he hadn't caved on the DVD set because doing that only kept this silly debate going if he had stuck to his guns it would be over end of discussion.

Certainly an opportunity to milk some people. $199 for the 3? I wouldn't buy again, but if it shut up the whining about it, it wouldn't be a bad thing. Would it really stop the whining, though, or just increase it with cries of milking?

OK, this is my "translation" of the many debates that have been going on in here. It's done in the style of two people (1 & 2) yelling at each other...

1: "Star Wars rocks!"
2: "The OT rocks; the prequels suck!"
1: "Are you insane? The prequels are a masterpiece!"
2: "I'm not crazy, but GL raped my childhood by making those monstrosities!"
1: "Dude, if the PT irritates you that much, then you need a life."
2: "At least I don't worship the quicksand Lucas walks on."
1: "I don't either, but the guy is a genius."
2: "Don't you mean a talentless hack?"
1: "I'd like to see you do better."
2: "I've got more skill in my thumb than he will ever have in his life."
1: "Egotistical, much?"
2: "Take off your blinders!"
1: "You're the one wearing them!"
2: "Am not!"
1: "Are, too!"
2: "3PO!"
1: "Anakin!"
2: "Vader!"
1: "Same thing!"
2: "You suck!"
1: "I'm right!"
2: "You're wrong!"
1: "GL can do what he wants; the films are his!"
2: "Star Wars belongs to no one alone!"
1: "Well, he does own them outright."
2: "That doesn't make it right!"
1: "Says who?"
2: "Says me!"
1: "You suck!"
2: "Do not!"
1: "Do, too!"
2: "Do not!"
1: "Do, too!"
2: "Do not!"
1: "Do, too!"

GL does care about the fans of star wars and star wars in general if it was'nt for GL star wars would not be what it is today without him. He has given us so much when it comes to star wars. He is not a bad guy. So what if he does'nt want to release the UOT on blu-ray right now they are his movies he is the filmmaker he can release them any way he wants to.

I would love if this release included the original version of the films but it's not a deal breaker for me. If they aren't released on Blu then I'll just hang on to my DVD versions for the originals. I don't even watch them that often but from a collectors standpoint I'm happy that GL "caved" and released them on disk at least once. It's great to me to pop them in once in a while and see that even without all the flashy additions that were made later Star Wars is, at it's core, an amazing story (my favorite actually). For the proof just look at this topic. There aren't many films that can inspire this kind of heated debate more than 30 years after it's first release.

P.S. Lately I wonder if we may end up debating Peter Jacksons LotR trilogy 30 years from now...

Dunno unless it was moved to the film section. There was nothing wrong with the post that I personally saw unless it was deemed too argumenative? But then if that was the case Uxi, Shelldweller, Pahtrat and even my own should also be deleted.

You know what I just realized that since I do prefer the Special Editions and that is what we are getting I will just be happy with that and not worry about what anyone else thinks cuz you guys can rant all you want but in the end *WE WIN* so :P

And yeah I think some of the OOT fans can't even agree on WHICH version of the film they are talking about because between the ORIGINAL release and EVERY RELEASE SINCE he has made changes it is not like there was one definitive version and suddenly there are two. He will keep making changes, keep making money, and keep us debating till the end of time which "cut" is the real cut.

So I wasn't there in '77 sorry but guess what, NOBODY is watching the movies how they were originally presented even the LD, and VHS releases were different cuts and so you all lose your credibility because you get bent out of shape over a few MINOR changes, but every other movie EVER you prefer the directors cut? I bet most of you are even remembering wrong about your initial experiences cuz anyone that was there in '77 the first time I am sorry but your memory has to be fading just a bit by now so how would you even know when something was changed anyways most people can't even agree on which cut had which audio mix and stuff like that. All anyone has to go by is their possibly false memories and a lot of out dated documents that were often written after the fact. Hell I just watched the OOT on DVD and there was stuff I remembered differently and I ain't half as old as some of you old timers.

Sometimes when I need a good laugh I watch the "Anakin, you're breaking my heart!" or the "Not the Younglings" stuff. Wahahaha, "Younglings."

Just release the UOT already Lucas, you old coot. Hoarding the best movies you've ever made makes no sense, not releasing them won't make the Prequels look better.

Won't be buying this unless we can watch the originals and not Lucas's Special Editions. Crossing my fingers!
