3. For reasons of historic preservation - the OOT (outdated original trilogy - i like that ) has already been released on DVD.
4. It's redundant to have multiple versions of the same movie in this box-set. It would be a waste of space and the set would just be more expensive.
5. The main changes like Ian McDiarmid in ESB or Hayden Christensen in ROTJ are crucial to the understanding of the saga.
Not one of those answers holds any water.

They're only a bit outdated because Lucas thought he could make them better.

It's going to be interesting to see how GL handles the OT. The previously-posted quote gives me hope!

Tell that to Blade Runner, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and numerous others.

Seems to me that there are a lot of self-described Star Wars fans that don't particularly like the films as-is and want everything changed.

This is film, not Microsoft Windows. We don't need a new beta release every year.

Yoda should not be touched in ESB or ROTJ! Unless he is releasing the UOT along with it. I just love how he is going to erase everything that was so great about the films...the puppet work was sensational! I bet Frank Oz would not be pleased. Lucas just needs to release the UOT to us in HD and then just go and reshoot 4,5,6. Everyone would then be happy...we would be happy because we get the great films in HD, The Fanboys would get episodes 4 5 and 6 with all new actors and special effects so they would be happy and Lucas would be happy because it would actually give him something to do for another 9 years.
Oh I agree that it would have been possibly better to have the PT look more like the OT but thats not how it went down. Like I said - There are added scenes and changes that irk me. But I can live with them as a whole.

I think it's easier to ignore the discrepancies than it is to watch Lucas try to connect the trilogies.

Not everything, just the primitive SFX. I like the films just fine, though don't think they're anywhere close to perfect.

You probably miss the strings on the TIE fighters, too.

What was the quote? "Films are never finished, just released"

I'll wait until the unaltered OT version comes out. But I definitely want to see how these movies will look in HD.

I just registered to reply to that altered image of the OT Yoda. I recognized the facial expression from "Revenge of the Sith" immediately. Check out this screen grab. Note the placement of the highlights on Yoda's eyes and the light coming through his ear that makes it appear yellow at the point. It's a photoshop, but a good one at that. Count me as very relieved.

Sorry about the quality of the grab. I had to take a photo of the screen. Clearly, Yoda's been flopped, but I'm 99% certain that's where the new head came from.

Either that or Yoda will now forever look as if he is constipated.

I don't think Obi Wan was cut in half(?) His body went "to the force" instantaneously as he was struck down (somehow!)

You know what he should have done? Kept Sebastian Shaw's ghost but edited Hayden Christiensen's flowing locks onto the ghost. That would have kept the purists happy (snicker) and the newbies would also understand who that ghost is!

i heard yoda will be digital in episode 1 instead of puppet. at least for the 3d version that's coming out, so yes he's still making changes.

doubt if it will be in this bluray set though.

Looking at the recent clip at play.com of the blu-ray box set of the yoda clip and John Williams talking about the yoda theme in ESB is great. John Williams is the greatest composer of movie music in the history of cinema. He scores for films like the star wars saga and other films is very extraordinary.

Apparently, there wasn't adequate technology to make Boba Fett sound like he was from New Zealand back then. Luckily, with 2004 tech, that limitation could be corrected.

Now I know some fans are worried about how the transfer of the films for the picture and sound will look like for the blu-ray box set at least as far as the OT is consern. The thing is though we don't know how the blu-rays will look and sound until the set comes out on September 16th none of us know yet. We need to reserve judgement until the set comes out. Then we can judge for ourselves how good the picture and sound transfers of the blu-ray's will be.

Technology made it impossible for Anakin's ghost to be within 50 years of the correct age.
