I definitely prefer the artwork for the 2 individual trilogies (although I think Yoda doesn't make any sense as the focus for the prequels), but that won't stop me from getting the full set.

Silly editorial decisions aside, I'm not buying it for the artwork.

WOW... this was a nice surprise today. I think the complete saga artwork is so fitting and looks gorgeous. I know it has it's haters around here but I'm definitely not one of them. The release can't get here fast enough for me!

NO!

I was NOT a fan of the North American Alien anthology packaging!

Very disappointed with the "Complete" set, will probably spend the extra $10 to get the separate cases.

And this is not something I normally complain about

EDIT:

Dammit

I don't care for the packaging either. At the same time, it's the only way to go unless you don't like bonus features. If you buy the two separate releases, you spend the same amount of money and lose the three bonus BD's. That wouldn't make much sense. While I'm only interested in four features on the disappointing Disc 9, discs 7 and 8 will be nice to have.

Yep, i realized how stupid that would be (more money for less content)...

I guess all the discs will be coming out of the book and into separate cases like the Alien Anthology (Aliens was scratched after taking the movie out a couple of times and Alien Resurrection was scratched upon removing)

Is the packaging for the complete set going to be like the packaging for the sopranos complete set?

Anyway, some more info about the blu-rays:

WOW!! WOW!! WOW!!

It's like a book? wonderful! Will it have like sleves inside? like the ones you get in the CD holders? It looks amazing. I'm sooooooooooooooooo happy. I think i'm going to get the book set and the other too just to have them.

I prefer the 12 inch hasbro's. I have all of them starting with the collectors edition. Sideshow is for the rich collectors.

I'm one of the people who won't be buying any of these because I only want the UOT, but I really like the artwork for the complete saga set. It makes me wish I enjoyed the movies more to give me a reason to buy it.

I own a very good copy of this, and yeah, I can see what he means. "Awful" just doesn't cut it. Still, it had one redeeming feature. There was an animated sequence of Han encountering a bounty hunter sometime between ANH and ESB that is actually mentioned near the beginning of ESB. Well, "animated sequence" may be too strong a description. More like a motion comic or animatic. Still, it's a moment mentioned later in an actual Star Wars film, making at least one part of the Holiday Special "canon".

I think the individual collection covers are far better than the complete box cover. That thing looks like is been created by a school kid. The artwork is terrible.

No, the animated sequence features Boba Fett. The bounty hunter Han mentions in ESB was on Ord Mantell. This is a different setting.

It would have been fun to have the holiday special included in this set, but as George hates this program with a vengeance, this is never going to happen. But it is interesting to see some of the cut scenes from ANH in it though (namely scenes from Mos Eisley and the scene with Vader and Chief Bast on the Death Star)

I can. Sometimes these forums are glitchy because I've heard others ask the same question before.

I do not enjoy the Holiday Special these days as much because i'm 38 and I see it's faults. But I loved it when I saw it on television when I was a kid. It blew me away just seeing chewie's home and his family. I loved Mara and the whole Kashyyyk sequence...seeing Han solo in the falcon and punching the admiral. lol. it was an incredible storyline. I actually believed I was watching a star wars movie and not a special.

people don't get that this was a huge event on television. it was incredible to watch leia sing and the droids...it was just a mad show..

I want it on BD.

Hahaha. I think that's the point. Star Wars is for children. Lucas has always said.

no, he only started saying that after the prequels. And you arguments really doesn't hold up much weight when the covers for the individuals are really good. It was Lucas' daughter that chose the artwork for the full set, so that is why they went with that artwork.

I can remember when Star Wars releases had some great artwork accompanying them, but since EP1 came out on VHS that level of quality disappeared in favour of some cheap, quickly done photoshop composites. Even those the individual covers are photoshop ones again, at least some thought went into these ones.

Oye vey. Look I don't want to argue k? lets be friendly.

Star Wars has always been for children. Lucas said that in the 80s (end of that discussion with that).

The covers look great in my opinion. Very colorful and different. Like nothing out there...I think the artwork is good, expressionistic. The book style is wonderful to put it up on a shelve...I don't get all the negativity about it????

When the original Star Wars came out, it was a film not specifically targeted for children and had a more universal appeal. Children, teenagers, and adults all loved it for that reason. Saying it was originally designed as a children's tale is somewhat spurious.
