Whilst that is encouraging news to hear it looked good the fact that it's on a screen of that size and viewed at such a distance would make it quite difficult to notice things that I really want to know about, namely the presence of fine detail and a lack of EE and DNR. Certainly the mention of the pleasing colours is positive aspect to take from this though who knows if the display they used was calibrated correctly?

Still, on the whole it's at least some good news and if something's being shown around hopefully we'll see some more opinions from various sources start filtering through.

If the final tweaks have been completed and everything's ready to go one would hope they do a new 1080p trailer for the release with the Blu-ray footage. That would get everyone talking.

Awesome. When they talked about stunning fine details, there's hope Mr DNR did not touch the transfer.

First image from the actual blu-ray on screen, nothing really, but why not:

Do you mean the US and UK sets are the same design? As far as we can tell from pictures the UK is getting a Digistack and the US is getting a book style package (like the US Alien Anthology set).

HMV UK are also offering a limited film cell as an online exclusive.

I do think it's telling that only II and III were previewed, which will undoubtedly look the best. I'm mostly interested to see how I, IV, V, and VI look.

They did get a sneak peak at #4,and said it looked amazing.I am not worried at all that it will look less than brilliant. If they could make Tron look so good (RL scenes),they can make SW look it too.

Three 30 second clips were shown from II, III and IV.

The pièce de résistance, however, came with the clip from*Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Taken from the opening sequence of the Special Edition version of the movie (where the Star Destroyer engulfs Princess Leia's starship), the moment when you first see C3PO in full 1080p is stunning. His golden shell gleams with such fine detail and shine that you'd swear the movie was made this year rather than 1977.

In short, from our fleeting but much welcomed previews, Lucasfilm has done an awesome job with the Blu-ray transfer. 12 September is rapidly becoming a landmark date.

That's good to hear. I just hope that this means they've fixed the color timing issues from the 2004 release. I can't really tell anything from the pictures shown. I just hope the interior of that ship in Episode IV is white and not blue.

Yep, you're right - watched it last night. Incredible feature really as it just hammers home how many hundreds of people it takes to make a scene.

That said, Rick McCallum is the most annoying SOB in the history of the world. He literally says "litrally" with a fake British accent 13 times in the feature.

Actually the way I look at them, I am most worried at how 1 & 2 will look compared to the others. On the DVD sets, the originals really out shine the prequels in picture quality. Well for my eyes anyway with maybe 3 as an exception.

Hmm HMV UK looks most interesting at this point, though I am going to wait and see what Amazon UK is going to offer as a bonus (already have a pre order so )

Wow, thank you. I had no idea there were that many different choices. You must know how to use the search feature on this site a little better than me.
Thanks again.

Sometimes less words is better (less is more)

(just in case, you need to be using the Blu-ray Style forum skin for the search to work) (I switch back to Classic Style for reading as it doesn't have a green blue tint)

That makes things much easier to find. I was just using the general forum search, and getting way too many results that had nothing to do with what I was looking for. Thank you.

Better get back on topic.

Only two months to go until I can watch Star Wars in all it's 1080p lossless audio glory! I can't wait. I'm actually going to request a couple of days off from work so I can really relax and savour the whole experience.

Thanks for that. Well, it certainly doesn't tell us very much about the BDs as a whole, but at least initial reports are positive.
It seems to me they didn't upgrade he AOTC Yoda to the ROTS model after all.
It could still be the case, but I won't keep my hopes up.
It's a good time now to start lowering one's expectations.

I just want these to look as good as they possibly can.

There was one bit of sorta kinda new information in there. The last round of 'first impression' articles a week or two ago both seemed to downplay expectations regarding the OT transfers.

This one doesn't. In fact, it was pretty enthusiastic about the clip from IV.

That was pretty encouraging.
