Could someone clear up the US vs. UK packaging for me? US packaging is like the Alien Anthology set (which I own and like)? UK packaging has 6 individual slim blu cases for the movies?
Not sure we know for sure but I think the UK packaging may be a digistack (plastic trays piled on top of each other with adhesive down one side). Just because there are no spines showing in the picture for the UK one.

Oh? Well if that's the case (pun completely intended), then it's a no-brainer for me. US packaging wins. I hate that digistack style... The Alien set is gorgeous and I'm sure The Saga will be too

Even though the Picture seems to be a stack for the UK I'm still hoping it is the same as the UK Alien set.

But whatever the case may be, I will be getting the UK set.

People aren't using their discs as "frisbees". Look at the following image. When discs are packaged like that, every time you remove them or put them back, they get rubbed against a rough surface. Really though, I'm more concerned about them getting rubbed against the edges (the round area). But honestly, I was already planning to put each movie in a separate case with custom artwork, so I don't care that much.
[Show spoiler]
Yes I see that. My deadwood complete series and the sopranos complete series on DVD come in the same packaging. I never scratched either of them. I dont know how you take your discs out of their packaging that is causing that to happen, cause I must be doing something different.

If the discs are scratched when you receive them that is something that happened in the packaging process at the manufacturers and I would say not because of the cardboard. I have watched my Alien Anthology liberally and have yet to get one scratch on my discs. If someone has gotten scratches it is due to mishandling the discs. People should look at themselves and figure out what they are doing wrong instead of blaming the packaging. Be careful with them and they wont get scratched. If they do get scratched make sure there is no grit inside the sleeves were the discs are held as that can ware on a disc after a while.
No one is saying that the packaging itself is causing the damage. But it's not protecting the discs as well as a normal amaray case would. Any sliding = NOT GOOD!

Some packaging makes it easier for dust and grit to accumulate. For the Alien/Star Wars "digibooks" there is half of a disc slot that we cannot even see! Say dust gets in there in the manufacturing process, how are we supposed to clean it?

Say what you will, but a big paper book is CHEAPER than three plastic cases and labels for each (perhaps a slipbox for all three), that's the only reason that the "Complete Saga" is being released in that package.

I for one can't stand them...

Here's what I don't get, they're already making individual cases for the 2 trilogies. Would it have killed them to make a 3rd for the bonus features, and pack them all in a bigger box? Do they honestly think anyone would have complained?

Of course people would have complained. They could put them in jewel encrusted gold cases and have strippers hand them out free and somebody would complain.

I'd hate to get the cardboard cases... really, why? This isn't a cheapo set. This isn't some dollar store DVD. This is a $90 (on sale) movie box set! So why skimp on the damn cases?!

I know Blu-Rays are scratch resistant, but the issue I have with these cases is that the discs fall out easily. I have the four Futurama films that were released on DVD in cardboard cases. Every single one of those discs either falls out or gets loose. A cardboard sleeve simply can't hold a disc as well as a case.

This is almost like an insult, why not give us little slim Blu-Ray cases? That would work well to protect the disc and keep it from moving around. I'll be very disappointed if we end up without any actual cases, especially for the price paid. If this is part of Fox's Carbon Neutral thing they picked the wrong movie release to mess with. *sigh* And what's with the disc cover art too? I mean okay maybe none of this is final yet. But somebody better start releasing some information. Because this is just getting silly...

Cole Sear: I want to tell you my secret now.
Malcolm Crowe: OK.
Cole Sear: I see angry Star Wars fans.
Malcolm Crowe: In your dreams?
[Cole shakes his head no]
Malcolm Crowe: While you're awake?
[Cole nods]
Malcolm Crowe: Star Wars fan like, in OUT? In SE?
Cole Sear: Walking around like regular fan. They don't see each other. They only see what they want to see. They don't know they're Star Wars fan.
Malcolm Crowe: How often do you see them?
Cole Sear: All the time. They're everywhere.

Much nicer looking than the UK set if you ask me, the big faces on the UK discs look aewful. The US disc art simply looks elegant.

I also love the Alien packaging so yay for me! I never had a problem with getting the discs out

This is why I am waiting, I want to see exactly what the sets look like. I wish I would have gotten the U.K. Back to the Future set and I don't want to get a set that I don't like as much.

Have you ever seen a digistack? They won't 'fall out' they are stuck together at the spine. You turn them, just like the pages of a book.

We're getting stuffs about the blu-ray now, pics of the set, etc. I don't understand why people keep coming back to this hate for George Lucas, posting same links over and over again, we've seen all that. This is not the place.

Agreed just focus on the actual blu-ray box set release and what is coming out and not the off topic stuff.

So we know what image they're using to represent A New Hope in the packaging I wonder what they're going to use for the other movies. Any ideas?
