Most of the camp here wants changes. Most of the rest of us were run off because our POV is so negative against Georgie. Obviously he can do no wrong.

...he managed to find these scenes but "lost" the theatrical versions of the movies.

Well, all I can say is that those deleted scenes look very interesting, from what we've seen so far. For the packaging, I like both, but won't go out of my way to import the US one even if it seems a bit more elegant.

There will be more deleted scenes. I believe two discs of the Complete Saga are dedicated to deleted scenes of the two trilogies, one for each trilogy.

That's incorrect. The Deleted Scenes are only part of the discs. The length of the deleted scenes has already been released. It's somewhere in this thread.

Yes, thanks. I thought it was something like that. Couldn't remember exactly what it was.

scenes deleted from the films, yes, but I'm betting not all of them are in this set.

I posted the lengths of the deleted/extended scenes a while back the original trilogy gets them in two parts running 27m48s and 19m33s and the prequels get 46m10s. The prequels I assume are new additions (as they were recently submitted) to the ones on the DVD which were numerous. But I'm not 100% on that.

Speaking of deleted scenes. It is my hope that the Qui-gon scene is restored from Revenge of the Sith. I honestly dont know if it was ever filmed but it would have given much more weight to the comment about Yoda having training for Obi-Wan.

PLEASE let this be true! It does look pretty good based in that pic, but it's hard to know for sure if that is accurate to what this will look like when we get it in hand (i.e. did they just turn the brightness way up?)

As much as I do want the original versions released at some point (and hope that it happens eventually), I will be happy with this release if it at least corrects the technical errors of the 2004 release.

The only thing I´m a little concerned about is that there are no indications that further digital enhancements have been made at this point. I mean, I really hope they redid Jabba´s musical number or corrected Obi-Wan braid, updated textures, corrected sabers etc ...
We probably won't know much until reviewers get their review sample copies in hand and start confirming what changes (if any) were made.

That's pretty much how it worked with the 2004 DVD release. There wasn't any announcement from Lucasfilm pointing out the changes.

I do hope that the lightsabers are updated in the OT. It's the one special effect out of all of them that I do feel was in the most need of updating, yet somehow has been overlooked in 2 previous rounds of changes.

I think Liam Neeson had been injured in a motorbike accident and was unable to film the intended scene.

but you can tell by the way it was done that they intended to have him speaking. otherwise they could have just cut to a second before Obi-wan enters. if he was doing the voice for the cartoon, then there is a good chance he recorded something for it - the new empire footage of the emperor was done during the filming of sith so Lucas doesn't let opportunities slip by.

having said that, it does create a bit of a problem. Anakin obviously saw Quigon as a father figure - if he really wanted to save Anakin, why not appear to him instead of Yoda(or anytime during the original trilogy for that matter)? you don't think this jedi, who meant a lot to you and was killed, appearing before you saying "there is another way" would make you think twice? there would have been no original trilogy. but that is a story issue and has nothing to do with the bluray release(unless lucas considered it and has totally redone the movies to account for it!).

The US edition does look better. Don't know if the contents of the booklet are exclusive to the US edition or that they are incorporated in the UK edition as well in one way or another?

The US edition would be 7 euro cheaper though I'd have to wait longer and I am not sure if the movies are region free. Choices, choices
