Maybe this is old news around here, but just in case...

Quote:
Star Wars sound engineers Matt Wood and David Acord have spoken to this week’s ForceCast. Chiefly, they were chatting in a rather specific and delightfully nerdy manner about a single detail of the original Star Wars soundtrack, debating whether or not Obi Wan’s scary roar was borrowed from a Hanna-Barbera cartoon called Dino Boy, but at the end of the segment, they revealed the following:

Quote:
And to be honest, that sound effect has been changed again so at some point the audiences will be hearing that scene again with the new sound effect.
At some point, unspecified, in the future. Intriguing. Here’s another quote on the new version of the effect:

Quote:
[We] decided it should sound even more human. And the human it does sound like… yeah, we’ll talk about that another time.

Well purists obviously won't like that news, but if they're making Obi-Wan's scream more of a human sound then I think that's a good thing because it's more believable.

This news does also hint that maybe there will only be on version of each film in this set becasue George Lucas is changing them even more, and as such I don't think he'll want to look back on past editions.
Part of me's quite happy about that because it means we won't have lots of different versions that could clutter up the release and in my view make it a bit messy. This also means that there is just one version of each film and that is the version that denitive version and the one tells the final version of the story. (Its a bit diffiuclt to describe. )
This also means GL there maybe some of the scenes from the Prequels added back in. I do hope the Rebel Alliance scenes with Padme maybe included because it would mean Episodes III and IV would add up even better, and it would also be nice if the short 30 second scene where Yoda arrives on Dagobah was included too, that would really make it complete.

I do however hope that GL makes sure that colour for this release is not altered again, or even keep the 2004 version.

If he does decide to put delected footage back in, i'd like to see the Grevious execution of Shaak Ti scene re-inserted at the start of Episode III.

Well I can teel you that that won't be put back in because she appeared in The Force Unleashed game, where she was killed by Starkiller, and George Lucas and others at Lucasfilm hav stated that Shaak Ti did survive Order 66.

Well if they remixed the sound again (in 2007 according to this article) I hope they put the score back into the surround channels on A New Hope the right way round!!!!!

I can't watch A New Hope on DVD in 5.1. I just can't.

Oh good grief, call me a purist but that is stupid. According to the original he was imatating a Krayt Dragon's scream. He's a freaking force user, you think he can't use that to imitate an animal scream??? sheesh, the Jedi no longer use force based on ability but rather their mitichlorean count, now they can't even use the force in it's basic forms Lucas has more loose screws than a rusty old tin can

The one in "A New Hope" where he does the Krayt Dragon howl to scare away the Sand people who are looting his landspeeder after attacking him (where Luke had gone off to search for R2-D2 who had run away)

I like how people think they know better about Star Wars than George Lucas himself...

Hmmm. Looking at poll results, I'm somewhat flabbergasted that certain folks actually rate either The Phantom Menace or Attack Of The Clones as their favourite Star Wars film.

Kids these days, what can you do? I prefer a Jim Henson/Frank Oz puppet Yoda to the CGI caffeine addicted bouncing off the walls Yoda we have now.

Rebel Alliance deleted scenes from Revenge of the Sith don't need to be added. By making Bail Organa a major player in the last act of the film and in conjunction with the final scenes of the film and the opening crawl of Episode IV, you get a pretty damn clear idea of how that was started.

The key to understanding the organizing of the Rebel Alliance is in the crawl to Episode IV...and that name is Princess Leia ORGANA. Watch those two films back to back and you realize that Lucas was right to cut the Rebel Alliance scenes from Revenge of the Sith.

Do you think I haven't watched them back-to-back?!?! Of course I have, I just think it would add more to the overall saga and connect the two films on a visual and direct level, rather than reading the scroll and getting it indirectly.

I seriously think they will be added back in because GL stated he removed the scenes not because there was already enough information about how the Alliance was formed, but because he wanted to focus more on Anakin . But since the film has been out for 5 years now, I think he will add the scenes back in and it will also give it another layer and sub-plot.

"organa" isn't in the New Hope crawl, but yeah those scenes are too boring to put back in ROTS.

It's more believable for Sandpeople to be terrified and run away from a guy just yelling?

So? The movies are his, he like's them better the way they are now and that is how he want's people to see them. From the sales of DVD the customers do not mine the changes. If you dislike them so much, don't buy them, don't watch them. The other solution, make you own movies and have them the way you wish them to be.

al cos,

Sorry, I meant Princess LEIA. And the emphasis on the kids at the end of the Revenge of the Sith, specifically their names, and the opening crawl give all the information you need to understand how the Rebel Alliance was formed.

Clone Trooper,

The only way the Rebel Alliance scenes would work in Revenge of the Sith is if Lucas combined the three scenes into one, which he can't do. The first scene is really the only important one. The last part of the the third scene, where they ask Padme to talk to the Jedi, is the only other crucial moments.

Again, if Lucas could somehow combine the best parts of the three scenes into one, then it could work.

Still, I'd leave them out. I like the fact that Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Bail are the ones who do it in that time period between III and IV. And yet, spiritually, it all started with Padme in Episode II.

Actually he could if he really wanted to. They can do amazing stuff now in terms of splitting out people from different scenes and different coverage, especially in a set that is predominantly greenscreen in the raw footage. Just since 2004 they've made some big leaps there.

Even though the original is mono surround?

I love the people who didn't even realize the score was "reversed" until they read it online. Like it really matters anyway to the enjoyment of the film itself.

If we're talking about adding scenes then I want them to go back and do a scene with yoda talking to Qui- about how to become a force ghost and communicating with everyone. It was in the novel.
