The deleted scenes of the OT won´t be restored to be in the same condition, I suppose.

I guess if they added or finished the Laser blast effects to the Endor bunker footage people would start complaining that this isn´t really a deleted scene because the effects were added later or something anyway...

Their where a few shots in TPM that where shot on digital cameras. GL said it in a web doc for episode 2. But yes TPM was shot the majority of the film on 35 mm.

The Midi-Chorlians scene with Anakin and Qui-Gon at night was the first scene shot digitally.

The thread started in May 2010, before there were any announcements about the set.

Sadly, there is no "Unaltered Original Trilogy" set either.
If that's the case, shouldn't it be removed from the poll, by a mod to prevent confusion ?

Side note: projectors will make you care more about the transfer of the video as it will make some flaws of overprocessing VERY obvious (looking at you Flash Gordon...), and painfully so. Those DVDs of the UOT that some people claim to be 'good transfers' are absolutely fn awful on a digital projector's big screen. You'll never watch anything in Standard Def again...lol. Have fun shopping around!

Well my current set up is in the living room we have a 32" 720 LCD in the bedroom I have a 22" 1080p LED, and I hardly ever see a difference in PQ between the two except SD material appears to look less plasticy on the LCD than it does the LED. I do not fully understand the differences in these two sets so I wonder if that is a factor in my not noticing the problems people complain about.

I know it isn't a factor of me thinking DVD is good enough, cuz I don't I really do notice the difference, but when it comes to SD content neither set I have looks good period. The set I had before was a 27" CRT Trinitron set and the DVD's looked pretty amazing to me on that set.

So if the transfers really are bad and mostly noticable on a larger screen can I ask this, is it because they are DVD they look so bad because DVD never looks as good as Blu Ray right? And if that is the case is it possible the problems are not as apparent or will be fixed on the HD transfer by virtue of it being HD?

I am just wondering because I have a Laser Disc player just for watching Star Wars, I have the SE set and they look pretty bad on both of my current tv sets but they looked pretty good on my old Trinitron I replaced. So that makes me wonder if the reason the transfers look bad to everyone *is* you are blowing up a 480i image to such large proportions? I mean I have a friend who has a large 50" projector tv set form 1998, square SD set not HD and it looks like ass no matter what source he feeds it. So I wonder if the errors are only noticable because you are stretching a crappy image so much? If that is the case would not the Blu Rays look better by default?

If that is not the case maybe I will not get a projector and keep the set I have because if the films are going to look good on this set and look bad on a big screen well it would be silly to spend money I don't have on something that will make the movies worse.

I apoligize for the sloppy post I am just trying to figure this out and obviously this set is a big deal.

Depending on the model of television you won't really see much difference until you up to 37'' -42'' screen size, up to that size resolution isn't as important as the televisions other factors like contrast, colour reproduction and brightness. There wouldn't be a huge amount of difference in actual picture quality.

As for SD on these set you really have to play with the settings to get a good picture balance, a lot of sets have functions which will make SD video looks worse unless you turn them off.

I'd imagine your laserdiscs are letterboxed and not anamorphic widescreen so both your televisions will stretch or zoom the picture depending on your settings. It will also depend on your cable connections if you're using component leads or composite leads.

I don't think the Blu's will look bad it's just a possibilty that they won't represent what some guys think or want them to look like (I'm probably one of those guys). People want the very best from a Star Wars Blu-ray and if those problems that people wanted fixed from the earlier 2004 DVD release haven't been addressed they're going to feel slighlty short-changed.

I don't have much experience with projectors but if you think the quality of other Blu's projected is to your liking then I'd think you'd be happy with the way the Star Wars will look.

I'm sure all the specialist home theatre stockists will be playing the Star Wars BD's non-stop once they're released so if you have any doubts go to your nearest store and ask for a demonstration.

Does anyone think the RotS scenes aboard General Grievous' ship will have their effects finished? To me at least it always seemed a shame that the scenes didn't have their SFX finished like the other deleted scenes from the first two prequels. Animatics are fun but it would be nice to see the finished product.
I didn't think that the extant material from either The Donner Cut or Alien³ looked bad, far from it. If anything, it's the crappy new effects shots in TDC which let the side down. Alien³ was given an extra polish for the Blu-ray, with more consistent colour matching between the two sets of footage and the repair of frame jumps caused by splicing in the new material.

Anyhoo, I'd also love to see the effects completed for the SW deleted scenes, irrespective of whichever film they came from. But I doubt that the OT scenes will even get a proper clean-up, let alone completed effects, in order to deter people from making fan edits and whatnot. But as adywan has proved, people are getting so adept at doing all that stuff that it doesn't really matter if LFL 'finish'' the OT scenes or not.

It's a shame no-one's been dedicated enough to SW to want to finish the incomplete prequel scenes. Maybe in 30 years time, eh?

The deleted scenes from RotS feel almost abandoned to some degree and we didn't get Anakin killing Shak Ti in the temple (?).

And kudos for using a little '³' for Aliens³.

Well I do use the best cables I can. My Laser Discs are this set http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Tril.../dp/B000UJQ9WE

My Laser Disc is hooked up using RCA Composite video that is the best my TV accepts for SD signals. My HD-DVD and Blu Ray players are both HDMI and so is my laptop and WDTV player also. The sat box is Component because Dish sucks and I never saw a difference using the HDMI and felt the port was better used on my WDTV player instead.

I think I am going to do some chatting up in the projector forums then to get some advice, hopefully the people are friendlier than in this thread.

The sooner we get some info about any tweaks / changes to the films for the blu-ray release the better.
