The Blu-rays...We all know that Lucas gets the ultimate say when it comes to anything Star Wars. But these Blu-rays are passing through many hands before they get to him. If in fact the 2004 transfers are being used, then everyone involved should be at fault. If this is the case...Lucas should have said "we need to use a new transfer to fix all the crap that was wrong with the DVDs". But...I'm thinking he probably doesn't care that much. He probably thinks they look great...and I bet he's got a whole legion of employees telling him the same thing.

I'm still hoping for new transfers and improved audio (poor John Williams!). These are hopes though...not needs. Star Wars has always been a cash grab when it comes Home Video. It has had countless releases on VHS, LD, DVD, and most likely will be with BD. I want to enjoy it now even if it's not perfect. I love film, and I love the Star Wars universe. If another improved release comes out...I'll buy that too (only if it's improved). I guess I'm part of the problem, but it's not a whole lot of money in the grand scheme of things...If I drop a couple $100 on Star Wars BDs...I think I'll be ok.

Either way...I'm charged for 9/16. I'm going to fire up the KURO, my Pio 1120, and my Ascends and go back 25+ years with a smile on my face.

The Clone Wars is not a kid's TV show. And you are seriously missing out...especially if you are big Lucas fan. GL himself wrote a few episodes in season 3 and they were pretty fantastic.

Also...The Clone Wars has better acting (voice-wise) than pretty much all of the PT stuff. For example...the Trade Federation dudes are miles better in TCW than they are in the PT...and the guy who plays Anakin is loads better the HC...this is all in my opinion...of course.

I can't wait for the S3 Blu-ray...

Back to the BD..

Hopefully Lucas not only added things but took out things that were not needed in the film for the BD release such as the Han/Jabba scene in Star Wars. So maybe we will have some subtractions as well as additions for this release. Not every change he made was for the better and maybe he himself just might realize that now.

Won't happen. These discs are the 2004 versions, and TPM will have digital Yoda. Otherwise things will be the same. Things like the green lightsaber in ANH might be fixed but otherwise I expect content to not vary.

It has been confirmed that the actual running times of the movies will be the same as on the DVDs. Itīs unlikely that scenes have been added or deleted. I think the changes (if ther will be any) will mostly be in quality... better sabers, effects, sounds etc

So there will be no new scenes added? Has it been confirmed there is a CGI yoda in TMP?

It hasnīt really been confirmed officially but CGI Yoda in TPM has been seen in several occasions such as Star Wars in Convert or the RotS Bonus-DVD. Lucas was never really happy with how the puppet turned out in TPM. It would surprise me if Yoda wasnīt changed in the BD release of TPM.

While I'm not saying this is the case, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if we simply get the DVD versions in 1080p, with the "real" BD versions coming at a later date.

...and what would those be? John Knoll already said that there will be no changes made for the 3D versions. No No, I guess what will not be made for this BD release, will never be. So hereīs hoping the did fix the sabers.

A DVD / Blu-ray producer friend in Germany sent me this...

Quote:
a journalist friend of mine went to a STAR WARS blu-ray screening by fox the other day. he asked specifically what has been changed as to the versions that were re-submitted to the ratings board. a fox official said that all films have been optimized for blu-ray (whatever that means - does not really sound like new effects), but episodes 2 and 4 have received a couple of additions. these may be very short, like on sentence in a dialogue or two.
Could be true...could be false. In the end, we won't know until we see it ourselves.

Thanks for the post... that seems make sense since only Episodes 1, 2 and 4 have been re-rated by the FSK in Germany. Weīll see.

Prediction: Greedo doesn't fire.

I have no idea why but I'm becoming increasingly convinced they're going to undo that change.

That would be a godsend! Now if we could just undo Hayden Christensen and put Boba Fette's voice back to the way it was....he would have another sale.

That might actually be true... I also can imagine they made that change because it doesnīt make much of a difference anyway. I really donīt mind them changing it as long as we keep actually seeing the laser which we didnīt in the theatrical edition.

Everyone seems to have another opinion about the changes... so, I totally disagree with him. I love all the changes above (Hayden, Emperor, End celebration)... the only thing Iīm not a big fan of is the "new" Jabba song and the animation of Sy Snootles.

Really all I would need to be 100% happy with the OT is:

- No Hayden Christensen at all in ROTJ. None whatsoever.
- NO CGI musical sequence ("Jedi Rock" or whatever it's called), it's jarring, out-of-place and totally unnecessary.
- Greedo not shooting.
- Lightsabers are green, blue and red again.

WISH LIST (things that I would like but are not critical):

- Jabba removed from A New Hope

I'm forgetting others, will edit when they come to me.

I would love it if they changed it back to just Han shooting. Let's hope they do.
