Messing around with the '04 masters is like robbing Peter to pay Paul though. If you alter one thing it changes another so there's only so far you can go with digital grading, brightness and contrast alterations before they affect something else.

If you click through to YouTube you find that not only is it not new (it was uploaded August 2010) but it's fan made and was made with the DVD files.

A nice effort from the creator but nothing new to see there.

Well for Star Wars...it's pink tint that we should be concerned about!

Pink is my favorite crayon, yeah
Pink it was love at first sight
Pink when I turn out the light
Pink it´s like red but not quite
And I think everything is going to be all right
No matter what we do tonight

Is it safe to assume these will be readily available in stores the first few days they are out or do you think they will be hard to find? If I remember correctly we got our DVD set like the weekend they came out I know we didn't wait that long for it. Also wasn't it like $50 just for the original trilogy back then when the DVD's first came out? So for me as long as the complete set is below $100 I would be fine anything above that and I might have to hold out even longer.

Just something I whipped up in about an hour in Photoshop

My video editing/special effects experience is quite minimal, especially compared to some of the other members here

If I can produce something like this in an hour, an ILM artist could definitely perfect the entire scene in a day.

My main goal was to get the lightsabers looking more like the prequels, uniform width from hilt to tip as opposed to the wide-based ones in A New Hope.

First time I've done rotoscoping actually, I've done tons of sabers for images, but none for videos

My prediction for a possible change: Greedo fires a water pistol. That way, both parties are satisfied...

With regards the spoof disc, its a shame they haven't included this in a cleaned up version, which is fantastic and features all of the main cast:

http://vimeo.com/16472287 - The whole video

- Part 1

- Part 2

- Part 3

Instead we get some huge documentary about men dressing up in fancy dress

I think a lot of people here are using the terms 'print', 'transfer' and 'remaster' too loosely when referring to how the Star Wars films will be put onto Blu-Ray.

Indeed, it has been confirmed that the 2004 versions have been used, but this is most likely just referring to the restoration work that was done to the print, including the scanning, the clean-up and the final digital product. As far as colour issues and additional scenes/edits are concerned, these could be changed at any time and Lucasfilm would still refer to the product as the 2004 versions because that was when the bulk of the work was done.

Maybe the programmer had some personal problems.

In the still from the official site. It looks so much better, and compliments the effects, making it appear a bit more natural.

Color in movies is something I tend to notice a lot. I like a more natural, and less of tinted look.

Not to me, because, personally, I don't find Boba Fett to be all that important of a character. He has, what, two or three small lines of dialogue? And then spends the little time he is in ESB and ROTJ just standing around and "looking cool" holding his gun, occasionally nodding his head. Apparently, this makes a badass!

I rarely even notice the voice change.

But I could do without the dance number. And I really never cared for the Jabba scene in ANH. I only ever found it interesting because, as a kid in 1997, it was the first time I had seen a deleted scene from Star Wars. Other than that, the reshoots made when they were fine tuning the Greedo scene (after the decision was made to cut the Jabba scene) pretty much acquired all of the important information from the Jabba scene. For example, we know Han has dealings with Jabba. If he doesn't pay him, Han is in trouble. The additional scene just kind of holds up the pace of the movie.

Why did color correction have to be made? Please don't say that filmakers ignored the tint.

Well what's your beef -- he's not important, or he's not a badass? Two different things.

He's obviously important to the story. He tracked down Han Solo for Darth Vader, which led to the trap for Han to get frozen, which led to the trap for Luke to come to Bespin, learn the truth about his dad, lose his hand, and then go rescue Han from Jabba, which also sent him to Dagobah again. None of that happens if Boba Fett doesn't track Han. He's the number 2 bad guy in one of 6 movies.

Badass? I agree he doesn't do much to make him be a badass, but all of us as kids certainly thought he looked like a badass.
