When will fanboyz on here learn. CGI does not have any depth or 'weight' to it. It never has and it never friggin will!!!

I believe the Yoda subject has been covered many times but I'll put my 2 cents in again.

Replace that horrible looking puppet in Episode I - Yes

Replace the puppet in Empire/Jedi - No

Update the Yoda in Clones/Sith - Sure, I don't care

I liked the comments in the second link. (Vader: "I find your lack of right turns disturbing", etc.).

I will believe it when I see it. 2011 if we are lucky I bet it will get delayed something will come up. I say 2012 or maybe 2014. Forget about seeing the uncut versions lucas's x wife owns a big share in those he would have to pay her a fortune. Well thats what I was told I could be wrong I am not yoda.

So, one looks like a cartoon and one looks like hes down from Fraggle rock! Who cares. If you can suspend your disbelief for one, you can do it for the other.

I don't care who or what gets replace or updated, as long as it looks good and I can rock it in my room!

No he doesn't - he looks like Yoda... duh.

Cuz it is.

A puppet is a real object that is filmed just like any other noun - er, I mean - person, place or thing. Replacing an object is silly:

See what I mean?

Replacing Anakin Skywalker with Hayden Crapsington is STUPID!

Replacing a warehouse with scenery to make it look like the moon is ridiculous! Nobody's going to fall for that!

Replacing one cartoon with a better looking cartoon is NOT such a bad idea...

But a cartoon will NEVER replace a real thing!

Cheers,

Doc

Hate to break it to ya but Yoda isn't real. An actress and a piece of plastic & rubber with a hand up it's butt are 2 different things.

George Lucas digitizing yoda in Empire is like Jabba The Hut anally raping my Mom.

My Dad had a plastic Yoda puppet in the window of his van for years. It was good luck. It looked just like the Yoda in the movies. If they change Yoda the puppet won't look like him anymore. Why ruin my childhood, George? Why?

But a Muppet with a hand up his butt is a real thing. Replacing that with even the best CGI is not going to look any better, only worse. CGI is not a substitute for an actual object.

But thinking Yoda would look somehow worse than the muppet he is (especially apparent in HD) is misguided.

If they can replace Yoda and look as good or even better I say go for it.
oh yea let's forget all the hard work it took to animate the puppet, that's obviously not important..

hopefully clone trooper is right, and lucas hasn't totally lost his mind

Don't worry, it won't happen. a CGI Yoda that will hold up on a giant 3D theater screen still costs way too much. They only do changes that are cheap.

Read it again, Sam. Didn't say Yoda was real. Said a puppet is a real thing... a filmable object. Let me get that egg, before is runs into your eyes...

Maybe they can cheaply fix Obi-Wan's flickering lightsaber in his battle against Darth in IV, that is if that wasn't done on purpose.

I'd also add that the Ep2 CGI needs to be redone to more closely match the Ep3 model and insert that same CGI into Ep1. Then make an aged version to go in the OT.

Well for me episodes 1-3 don't exist, so episodes 4-6 needn't be consistent with anything but themselves.
