Come on, everybody. How can we know what the colors will or won't look like, we haven't even seen the discs yet. Oh, I don't even know what I'm DOING here! We're WASTING our time!

Sorry, couldn't resist.

This is going to be hilarious when people is gonna start getting the sets early from retailers that ship when received instead of waiting for street date and posting clips/screens. Gonna be like with LOTR with tinkered screens (could be real also but no one is gonna trust em anyways hehe) and fans crying over it. Just a few more weeks now

Just had the Special Edition Original Trilogy VHS which came out at the end of 1997. Never bought it. Got it for Christmas.

September will be the first time I've ever bought a Star Wars film.

Interesting, just watched this video of a recent interview with Jake Lloyd talking about his Phantom Menace experience. The most intersting part is the mention of the original 6 hour cut (about 4 minutes in to the video)that George Lucas showed to Matthew Wood who said it was incredible. Perhaps there is a wealth of additional deleted pieces that will emerge on the Blu Ray.

Would love to watch the six hour cut, probably an entirely different film.

I own all of the original VHS releases (Day one purchases) - Haven't had these out for years, hope they haven't rotted in the boxes
VHS widescreen releases
VHS special edition trilogy Silver set
All PT DVD
Special Edition DVD set

....and now the complete saga Blu Ray on pre-order

I meet Jake Lloyd three years ago in a convention in Toronto, it was early in the day and there was not much people around so I got to chat with him a bit. He asked me how I enjoyed The Phantom Menace, he sounded a bit on the defensive I went on to tell him I did enjoy the movie a lot. He did mention that there was a lot of scenes done that never made it into the final cut but WOW six hours seem insane Anyway I got his autograph and I had my pic taken with him, pretty nice kid. I say kid since anyone in his age group is a kid for me

Just found my old DVD silver-and-black trilogy...you know, if they'd use that as cover art, it would still beat the you-know-what out of the Blu's cover art..

For the OT... th upcoming set will be about #6 for me.

The ones that I have are...

-The 1987 OT 10th anniversary VHS release (I was 7 at the time, got it as a Christmas gift if I recall correctly).
-The 1995 VHS "final" release of the original versions.
-The 1997 VHS Widescreen Special Edition release.
-The 2004 Widescreen DVD box set
-The 2006 individual DVD releases with the original version bonus discs

For Episode 1, I have 3 copies (making the upcoming Saga set the 4th), though one of them I kind of consider a gray area:

-The Widescreen Collector's Edition VHS release
-The Widescreen DVD release, which I bought when it came out
-A second copy of the DVD (this is the gray area) that I got for free (plus shipping) from some cereal box top offer promotion from around the time that Episode III came out in theaters... I got this mainly because I found that the 2nd disc from my first copy had a scratch on it and was effecting my ability to view some of the features, so I sent in for this to get an almost free replacement copy. I consider this a gray area as it's something that I got mostly to replace something that was damaged, and not otherwise an additional copy that I was truly "adding" to my collection.

For Episodes II and III I just have the Widescreen DVD releases (1 copy each). So, the Saga set will make copy #2 for each of them.

I've got the UOT and SE's on VHS, and all three prequels on VHS as well. (Episode III was pretty rare). All of them from car boot sales. And now the Blu-ray.

I am about the same..., so going to cut and paste and edit a wee bit...

Original VHS set (with the original movie posters as cover art)
The THX VHS set (The 'faces/big head' cover art)
Laserdisc Definitive Edition Boxed set
Special Edition VHS Widescreen set
The Phatom Menace VHS set
Original Trilogy Special Edition DVD set (Black & Silver)
Prequeles DVD set (individual, ROTS came with bonus disc from Wally World)

However, I got rid of all of the above except the laserdisc set in prep for the blu rays.

Could you post a picture of that?

I'd love to include it on my website

(See Signature)

btw, did anyone here happen to get ahold of this VHS set when it was available?

Over the years I have had the original VHS tapes, I still have the first two, I had the THX set a long time ago wide screen but I sold it when I got the special edition boxed set a couple of years latter. I had the original Phantom Menace big box VHS collectible one still have that one the VHS tape that comes in a big cardboard box, I have the special editions on LaserDisc, and the original Star Wars on Betamax a long time ago but never had a Beta will get one someday. I have the first DVD release of all movies as they came out, the second release with the bonus films, and the newest boxed set of both trilogies in the smaller cases. My goal is to own every version of Star Wars ever made, legit not counting Bootlegs and focusing on the US releases. I also have digital copies of all of the films in varying qualities and I made my own fan edit of Attack of the Clones, mostly to test my editing skills and because it was my least favorite and I wanted to fix it badly. I am hoping that the deleted scenes are all in good shape because if Lucas won't give me a ultimate directors cut I plan on doing my own ultimate fan cut myself but not to share with pirates just for me and my friends to see.

I think he's talking about the Comic Con footage.

IMO they were using the original 2004 HD footage without any enhancements to promote the blu-rays.

I'm more inclined to take the email as evidence rather than Adywan's footage simply because the Comic Con clips are promotion material.

Think of it like a video game demo. It's put out with the intention of encouraging you to buy the game, but remember the ever-present fine print: "This demo is not representative of the final product" because it's usually an earlier build

I think it's the same case with Star Wars

the Promo footage (and trailer for that matter) was probably compiled and set aside before any restoration/enhancement work took place.
