If anything George Lucas said in a recent interview how he maybe having a change in heart about CGI, because he was talking about how well the visual effects in Avatar worked, because it was in 3D the CGI worked better, however because the Star Wars prequels were in 2D the CGI always "looked like it was pasted on", which is actually what he said.

Now I don't think this'll mean we'll see a 3D version of all the Star Wars movies, but it does say that his opinion is changing and that the only replacement of CGI in the upcoming Blu-ray set will be the awful puppet Yoda in Episode I, which really does need a replacement.

Here's the link to the interview:- http://g4tv.com/videos/45623/Inside-...ywalker-Ranch/

Hopefully they don't cg c-3po. Imagine this picture with cgi? A tangible object is far superior than cg. Keep the puppet YODA!!!

With all due respect, I think you are wrong about this.

I have watched that video, and to me it sounded like he just said that 3-D helps make CG look more integrated, but not that he has lost faith in it, or anything like that.

Also, Avatar is basically completely animated, whereas the PT was about 50/50, which makes it much harder, since people can compare things...

I am sure G.L. will make more changes, and especially that CG Yoda in TPM.

lol. I've always been amused by those comments. How is it in fantasy land?

Not just SW, but sometimes people say that about Aliens, Predator, Terminator, and even Jaws.

Well, he's hinted at it...it was a while ago, but he mentioned updating the f/x in Empire and Jedi, and this was right around the time he replaced puppet Yoda in Episode I. His animation team replaced the Yoda puppet in Empire Strikes Back for practice on animating him for Episode II, and while they were working on that, they went ahead and replaced the Yoda puppet in Episode I (a few excerpts are seen on the Clones or Sith disc, don't know which - I assume it's Clones) Then ILM updated and ehanced the E.T. puppet with CGI. I think the days of all-puppet Yoda in Empire and Jedi are numbered. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if Yoda was made all-CGI for the next go-round.

If Lucas is going to re-do Yoda in Empire and Jedi, he might as well re-do the the snowwalkers, the taun-tauns, etc. Those models did look a bit choppy with the stop-animation. I'm for all the original stuff and just leaving it, but just making a point; if you're going to re-do it, re-do it all to remain consistent and give the movie a more solidified look.

I wish he'd just leave well enough alone.

That said, whether he changes stuff or not has no impact on my purchasing these on release day. I'll do it regardless.

That would be a tragedy, but as I've said before, I'm a nostalgist. I even like the cheesy look of the props in the original (episode IV) Star Wars. I just saw it with ESB and ROTJ in HD for the first time when they were aired on Spike last week, and enjoyed the hell out of them.

No matter what Lucas does with the SW films, he is bound to upset someone. He should just release the version of the film that he wants to and I know that is not a popular opinion to have. I cannot imagine anyone who wants to, not buying these films just because he has changed something.

Now for a totally radical idea. How about Lucas remaking all 6 films in 5 years time using good script writers, directors and actors and in 3D. Have a new film every year for 6 years. That way he can pi$$ of everyone at the same time while making himself a ton of money.
