![]() Hang onto your bonus DVD. None of it is carrying over and if you're a prequel fan, hang onto those three bonus DVD's too. ---------- Here's the email they sent me: Dear -----, Thank you for your recent e-mail. We are as excited as you about the release of the Star Wars Saga on Blu-ray Disc! It will be great to be able to watch them at home (or anywhere else for that matter) in high definition with high quality sound to match! While “From Star Wars to Jedi: The Making of a Saga” and “Empire of Dreams” won't be included with the BD set, there's a ton of previously unseen material that will featured on the bonus discs; the list from the press release is only a top line, bird's eye view of the comprehensive materials that will be included, and isn’t necessarily reflective of them in their entirety. Discs seven and eight, in particular, highlight a cornucopia of behind-the-scenes material and footage. Even though the vintage docs aren't included, those two discs alone are steeped in archival goodness. Thanks again for taking to time to write. May the Force be with you! It's really no surprise. Very rarely have they cared over the same extras from release to release.
I have my DVD copies for those other extras. So I'm happy to see mostly new material so I don't have repeated extras. I'm quite happy with the features on the fans (hopefully they talk about R2-KT), and the Spoofs. Since Lucas is a huge fan of the Spoofs. |

![]() Except... I don't exactly own that particular trilogy ![]() I will have to track it down. I've been keeping an eye on Craigslist and Kijiji, hopefully someone will put some up cheap to try and get money for the blu-ray set. A few days ago someone put up the prequels in widescreen, plus the 2004 OT box with the bonus disc, all for $30! Would have jumped on that if I didn't have to travel across the city by public transit ![]() Last edited by nmycon; 08-09-2011 at 11:19 PM. |

My bad, I did see your earlier response and meant to ask if anybody else had heard back. It's good they responded. If more and more people e-mail it should be an opportunity for Lucasfilm to really excite the fans with any details they might be able to reveal.

I agree that Lucasfilm has chosen not to carry over extras through the years, though I feel they should have when it came to DVD and now BD. On the other hand, Blu-ray has the capacity to allow that and I think they should have taken advantage of it, as other franchises have. We now have 3 of the 4 original OT behind-the-scenes documentaries on this Blu-ray set. "From Star Wars to Jedi", number 4 of 4, never made it past VHS/LD. It should have made it on this set. Though I don't prefer this route, one could make the argument against me that the OT bonus features(EOD+) from 2004 and the 3 prequel bonus feature DVD's are on a modern disc format and were likely filmed in SD anyway. Their inclusion would have just been a space-saver and given the set more of a comprehensive feel. FSWTJ, on the other hand, has never seen a modern, disc-based format, so its inclusion on the set would have been highly appropriate. I just feel that leaving off those two docs, especially FSWTJ, while including docs on costumed fans and spoofs, is a shame and makes me wonder what they were thinking. To include 3 of the 4 classic docs, yet leave off FSWTJ, seems a little ridiculous to me. I would rather see documentaries like the two I mentioned above instead of fans and spoofs. I prefer features that relate better to the films themselves. In my opinion, a much better set would have jettisoned the 501st, Spoofs, and Star Wars Tech docs from Disc 9. Put "From Star Wars to Jedi", "Empire of Dreams", and "The Making of the SE" from the '97 LD in their place. Create a Disc 10, using a BD-50, and fill it with the leftover SD material from the 2004 OT bonus DVD, the three prequel bonus DVD's, the '93 DC LD extras, the '95 Faces LD interview, The Music of Star Wars DVD content, The Story of Star Wars Wal-Mart bonus DVD content, and the R2D2 short. You'd then have a set with all-new material on Discs 7 and 8, a mixture of new, old, and previously unreleased material on Disc 9, and all previous LFL home video special features to date on a Disc 10. Even throw in the never officially-released "Return of the Ewok" short and the incredibly awful Holiday Special somewhere in the set. A set like that would have been great, in my opinion. The link isn't working but I assume you are looking at the A New Hope page from the Digital Bits. If you look on the Amazon picture, A New Hope is not the first page in the book and you can see hints of the prequel pictures before it. I think it's just a weird angle in the Bits picture.

Meh. I actually tried to scratch my Alien Resurrection disc (from The Alien Anthology which uses the same bookcase packaging) by sliding it in and out and couldn't do it. I'm not worried about the discs being damaged this way.
I; like many of you; are eagerly anticipating a proper review of this set with actual caps. I pre-ordered it already, since even if they completely botch the OT, the features and PT are still worth the price of admission for me. But I do so very want the OT to be somewhat fixed. The wrong-colored sabers, the bad-looking Greedo scene, the lazy color filter applied to all of the films, even when it makes certain environments (Hoth) look terrible. 37 days... |

Dunno if this has been mentioned before, but it's quite clear this is a stop gap release.
With the first 3d theatrical re-release mere months away, Lucasfilm will most likely be making full on enhancements and additions/corrections to these. After all, they will need something for the ad campaign and a reason for the audience to go watch these months after the Blu Ray Release. When they're finally released on 3d Blu Ray, they will most likely include all the bells and whistles (i.e. missing documentaries, better artwork etc). This September release will be stellar quality, but based on previous versions. The 3d re-release will most likely include williams' score adjustments, CG fixes, restored/additional scenes etc Rex |

This has been discussed to great lengths. As I understand it, only TPM is certain as a 3D release. The others depend on that movie's success. So there is really no guarantee that there will be another complete saga released on Blu.

If you check the image on amazon.com and zoom in, you can see there's two pages slightly opened before ANH being episodes II and III, and the flat page before those is Episode I, and there's a page or two before that which is probably the introduction/art. So there in order
