Clearly someone in marketing and at Lucasfilm Ltd. thought the saber was pink or at the least had a pink hue. Heck I can go back and pull my old copies of the Star Wars and Empire Storybooks and scan quite a number of stills from the film with Vader's magenta saber.

The first picture is from the 1997 SE's and what the scene always looked like, in terms of Vader's lightsaber. The second shot is from the 2004 DVD after ILM fixed the lightsaber. ILM fixed Vader's lightsaber and made it...

Red. Shocking. Positively shocking...

Now why would ILM make Vader's lightsaber that color when we all know Vader's lightsaber is supposed to be pink? Someone needs to alert George Lucas and the "fixers" at ILM to their mistake.

Look at the colors on the door edges and to the right of Vader in the '04 shot(bottom) compared to the '97 shot(top). Yikes!

This is an official Lucasfilm cardboard cutout from 1996.

Anyway, this will be a FUN boxset - something many of you will forget as you'll be more concerned about how red Vader's lightsaber should or should not be.

Well since I have been banned from posting on theforce.net basically for nothing, and not one mod can be bothered emailing me with some info I'll post here about Star Wars under my regular name.

Regarding all of today's news..............I'm happy as hell that the saber crossing in ROTJ is apparently fixed. That's a clear sign other things have been fixed.

Knowing that I can live with any minor glitches here and there.

I know you'll find this hard to believe, but some people can actually use the internet to discuss things AND also have a social life. Shocking news to you I'm sure, but believe me it can be done.

I don't know. As much as I would love Vader's saber to just be red I can live with it being pink.

I would prefer it match the red sabers in the pT but it's never been enough of an issue for me to not buy the flicks. Also I wouldn't rule out something like that finally being fixed for another re-release down the line or for the 3D flicks.

For a minute there, I thought you were talking about Vader's light saber!
I guess you mean the cardboard cutout.

They basically put what would have been the few episodes together to make a movie and these weren't the strongest episodes. If you're a fan of the show, it's essential but if you are just getting started you might want to try a few of the more popular episodes to at least see if you like it.

With that said, there's a lot of variety in the episodes. Some episodes don't have Jedi. Some don't have Clones. Some are mysteries, some are action, etc. I would watch a handful to get started to get an overall feel for the show.
Thank you for the reply!

Hold the phone... problem here. The people over at OT.com and other purists want the blu-ray to resemble the film as they were originally released, so you are conceding the point about the original saber color with the screenshot from the SE. Bbut you want his saber to be red due to the 2004 DVD release of ANH. However, the same 2004 DVD release allegedly introduced the pink saber in TESB that people are griping about.

So which is it, pink or red?

New trailer for the set. Includes the crossed sabers scene from ROTJ fixed.
This trailer is pure awesomeness!!! I will wait until I see the PQ of the BD on my calibrated Kuro to judge whether or not Vader's lighsaber is red or not.
The colors in the trailer seem very boosted overall, so I am not using it for reference.

I have already watched it 3 times!

The extra stuff from the archives looks like it will be great to see. And also the deleted footage of han from the cantina looks like it will be great to see. Overall I'm getting more and more excited for the September 16th release date and getting the blu-ray box set.
Me too!!!

I LOVE the packaging now!

Darth Maul opposite to TPM
Padme for AOTC
Anakin for ROTS
Luke, Leia and Han for ANH
Yoda for TESB and
Ewoks (if I saw that correctly) for ROTJ

I wish there was some disc art, not like the horrible UK set though, but it's still fantastic!
I am super excited now!!!!

And am I wrong, but were there no shots of Yoda in the Empire Strikes Back in this trailer, or any of the Jabba Palace creatures? Or Ewoks?

If not, why not? Dare I say possible digital tweakage?

Just sayin...
Unfortunately, I don't think so, as the OLD Yoda is on the page next to TESB disc.

How many pages have you guys been discussing Vader's pink/red lighsaber now???

Seriously guys, have you got no lives at all??

Actually I completely agree, as long as they look consistent over the Saga I don't care. I just can't stand people making statements about what hue Vader's saber as if it's gospel truth when the color has changed over various releases and merchandising over the last 34 years has even contradicted itself.
