With the amount of warnings handed out already, I think suspensions or being banned are in order. Then I think people will finally get the hint.

I suggest anyone arguing over the lightsaber colours should watch this deleted scene from Episode I:

And the result---Vader's saber retains it's original pink tint(just like it would do in the actual 2004 DVD):

As for Adywan--he fled to OT.com and shamlessly baited me from there.

And regarding the 1997 special edition---it is the screen shots that you don't show--like this one from my own VCD that was released in 2000 that prove that you see only what you want to see(the so called flaws in the 2004 version----even though those flaws(i.e a predominantly pink saber) have always been there :

And for the record---I have no problem with Vader's saber being pink.
It's so funny because your mate Adywan can't even bare Mace's purple saber in ATOTC.

I rest my case.
please check your monitor because almost time you keep saying that the cores are pink and post examples, the cores are white (see your own screenshot above). The examples you keep posting from the technicolor showing are taken from a damn digital camera and has been said by a few now, but you chose to ignore, that unless the white balance was set up to be 100% accurate, using then screen projecting nothing but the light produced by the projectors bulb, you cannot seriously keep using these as an example. it doesn't matter if whites look white in some shots at all. if the camera was on auto setting it would estimate the white balance differently every shot. when there is more white levels on the screen it would have something to judge a more accurate white balance. when there isn't then it would throw the white balance out. It's basic photographic knowledge. But you continue to chose to ignore any valid argument against your case. You even provided this comparison to say that the 2004 is faithful to the screenshots shown from the technilcolor print showing, yet they look completely different, or can you really not see that?

But yet again you keep talking about the cores, even though the rest of us have always been talking about the glows.

And what the hell does the fact that i dont like Mace's purple lightsabre have anything to do with what we have been discussing?

But i guess no matter how much real evidence is put to you, you will continue to ignore it and call us "misinformed" fans, or continue to bait me just to try and get me banned. Very mature.

oh, and i didn't run from these forums as you put it at all. I have a life outside these forums and i don't feel the need to keep constantly posting the same things over and over again , as you seem to.

Now, please correct me if i am wrong, but aren't we on a forum that is for Blu-Ray enthusiasts, right? With people who care about the quality of a blu-ray release? So why, if problems with a blu-ray transfer are correctly pointed out, why do some feel the need to attack those who point these flaws out? Surely we should all care about how good the product is because, after all, it's our money that we are handing over to the studios. But Star wars seems to be a totally different thing with some here. When i hear things like " stop complaining about how these will look. Just be grateful you are getting star wars on blu-ray" it just amazes me that they don't care that they could be paying for an inferior product. There have been cases where people have complained about problems with a blu-ray release and the studios have listened and corrected these problems. But a section of Star Wars fans just don't seem to care. George could recolour the films so that vader is pink and obi-wan is now a blue alien and they would lap it up without question.

When i get my hands on the blu-rays on the 12th i will write an honest and informed review. If there are problems i will point them out and if there are improvements then i will point them out too. If they have indeed fixed the colouring and other problems then i will say so. People can call me a hater as much as they want, but if i hated star wars so much then i wouldn't have been a fan for almost 35 years. I just don't blindly follow anything with the name Star War on it like some, no matter how bad the quality of said thing is.

EDIT: Sorry crazyBLUE, i was writing this up before you posted. No more lightsabre discussions.

A big part of the issue about the constant nitpicking and fighting is the fact that, in the end, this is just a movie. This is not a cure for cancer.

Well, if you were a true fan you would appreciate that they're George's movies and if he wants to do that, he can! (I'm kidding, by the way).

Honestly, I think we should drop this issue for now. It's becoming just like the LOTR thread. Neither side is going to convince the other to change their opinion. Both sides have said how they feel, but it's just going to go on an on and on.

I tend to belive Ken did indeed recieve the email. They only said "select shots" in the email, and the trailer has indeed proved that they have corrected the one crossed saber shots and have removed the "slugs" from the Emperor.

Considering we are about to enter the 1 month away zone, are we going to see a review in about 2 weeks from now from some site?

Can someone tell me how a 6.1 mix will work with my 5.1 setup? does the 6th channel just get left redundant? where would you stick a 6th channel anyway?

and will it be a DTS-MA or a Tru HD soundtrack - and does it make a difference?

I find it odd that we've pretty much spent our down time between SW blu-ray news killing each other.

Does anyone know of any other sites that detail (preferably with pics) all of the issues with the 2004 OT's coloring timing?

It appears that SaveStarWars.com's domain registration expired and hasn't been renewed. I'm trying to find a link to post explaining the problems in a thread about the Blu-Ray release (explaining that while some saber shots appear to have been corrected, the other issues still seem to remain) in another forum. I was going to link to the save star wars article detailing this, but that seems to no longer be an option.

That's the thing. There is no thing or no one who can control this. The internet is the lawless realm of our world. So as hard as the mods try people will just keep on talking.

To quote Darth Vader, by the way: "It is useless to resist."

However, I do think the battle of right or wrong colors should end. At least here.
If people want to carry the argument further, and more freely to boot, the best place to go to is TheForce.Net's forums.

It is good to see that it looks like they have fixed the Emperors" slug" during these close up shots (well hopefully they corrected them all and not just for the crossed lightsabre shots). A lot of people have always wondered why this existed in the first place. Well here is a quote direct from someone who worked on these scenes:

Quote:
"I actually composited that shot working for a company in Hollywood. The two black blobs around the outside of the emperor's eyes were g-mattes to conceal makeup defects that didn't look quite right. With the theatrical release on standard release print stock the g-mattes like all the other g-mattes blend into the surrounding black areas going un-noticed. Not untill the use of lower contrast video film stocks did the density mismatch become apparent."

Don't "quote me" , but I believe if you have 5.1 as a set-up, the 6th/Rear channel will just get Evenly divided between your 2 Rear speakers, so you will just hear it like a Normal 5.1 Audio track. IF you had a 6th speaker, it would be a Center speaker in the Rear of your HT. I have a 7.1 with 2 Side Surrounds AND 2 REAR Surrounds
[Show spoiler](7.2, actually with 2 Subs via a Y-Splitter)
, so the "6th Channel" will be going to those 2 Rear Speakers in my instance.

As for your 2nd question, it says 6.1 DTS-HD MA, so there ya' go.

This is correct. Like the LOTR EEs the rear sorround will be matrixed to both speakers of a 7.1 system since we are talking about a 6.1 mix.

As explained by Aerodude73. The rear center channel will be handled by both the rear surround speakers (in-phase to make it sound as one).

No difference, except maybe loudness.
