Anything else I missed?

I'm expecting more fixes done, all we have to do is wait. Don't know about you guys but I'm more excited about Star Wars now than ever!
I've been excited for the star wars saga on blu-ray even before it was announced and now I'm even more excited. September 16th is going to be a great day fore sure.

Revenge of the Sith actually has a number of little lightsaber inconsistencies. During the Windu vs. Sidious fight Sidious is actually using Anakin's lightsaber in a number of shots. And I believe Grievous is using Anakin's lightsaber during the fight with Obi-wan, but I'm sure someone has written a EU explanation for that.

And when Anakin is choking Obi-Wan, it switches between Obi and Anakin's saber

Agreed, everybody calm down. Even though it's saying 1080p there is still a level of compression. Codec gets funny especially uploading high resolution material. Just take for instance a 720p grab and a 1080p grab of the same shot. Vader's saber looks more pink in the 720p version, probably due to compression.

First of all, Alien has 4 movies, 2 discs of extras. Star Wars would take more time to compile.

Plus if they included all of the extras on the blu-ray, that would be it for DVD sales. They are giving people a reason to continue buying the DVDs (sure some people will buy them used, but some will pay full price and buy them new)

Not saying I agree with this standpoint, but you can't argue that they will make more money by keeping the DVD extras off the set.

Is anyone here really not buying the set because it doesn't include Empire of Dreams or the other DVD extras? I'm sure the amount of people not purchasing for this reason will be negligible (as in sales money lost) compared to the money it would have cost to port all of the DVD extras over, make new menus, add another disc to every set, etc.

ok sorry for the super long post, I do that and then my question gets lost.

Here is the question I wanted to ask, does anyone know anything about that scene I was describing from Return of the Jedi where Luke is hanging from a grate in Jabbas Palace?

Also did anyone else notice different dialog in Empire Strikes Back when the technician is showing Vader the shot of Hoth? I could re-watch it again but I am pretty sure it was different dialog.

I believe Palpatine using Anakin's lightsaber in the duel with Windu, was intentional, but not story-related. I can't remember where I saw it, but I think it was mentioned that the reason Ian was using Hayden's lightsaber was because he wasn't comfortable using his. A chunk of his fight scenes he was replaced with a stunt double.

Grevious isn't story related either. I think ILM just picked a couple of hilts to put in his arsenal. Another one of his lightsabers is Obi-Wan's from ANH.

Bad! This is one of the changes I want to see go. Not only does it look dated, but it just looks dumb and screams "Little Shop of Horrors".

What do you want to know about the Luke/Jabba scene? Seems like you know all there is to know... there was a brief part where Luke grabs the grate and Jabba's muppets bang at his hands. It got cut... but there's a shot of it in the Storybook (and, I believe, on the Topps cards).

It would be great if someday they make a set having all of the deleted scenes inserted into the movies.

you can't have your cake and eat it too. If you want the picture to be lightened back to it's oringal state, they are going to be back. I for one, will revel in enjoyment.

That actually makes no sense because the problem was fixed for the Special Edition and from what I could tell the Lowry release is the one with the color problems. Either way it was NOT a lighting issue they had fixed it digitally for the Special Edition and no ammount of adjusting lighting is going to make something transparent solid and vice versa.

And what I was asking about the Luke hanging scene was it in the theatrical release but cut from home video releases? I have never seen it outside of the Story book and like you said the Topps cards, which I did have the entire set of that and Empire Strikes Back for years and gave them to my nephew recently.

I guess I was just wondering if it was a cut scene from the home video release or was it cut entirely as in it wasn't even in the theatrical version?

Lol your kidding right? Thats the poorest excuse I've heard. So because it might take longer we are to accept less extras. That would imply Lucasfilm took the easy route. I don't care of the set took a whole nother year. If that's how long it took to get a true archival set with all the special features available I would wait. I mean this set doesn't even have isolated scores.

Not trying to butch, just stating that this set is far from being the best collection of special features on the market. Its pretty weak in terms of what is possibly available.

I didn't realize it wasn't a lighting issue. Either the shot in questions was never was fixed at all, or they went back to some really early (original masters) for this blu-ray set, which is good news! A dvd screen shot comparison would help.

time = money, so it all comes down to how much money would be spent making the set, which would translate to how much we would be paying.

Perhaps I'm in the minority of people who still have the 2004 DVDs (and prequels). I was under the assumption that most people here had them (or at least the bonus disc). Having the DVDs, I don't mind having to put a DVD in to watch some extras and whatnot, although it would be more convenient if they were all on blu.

One thing this prevents is, ok, so the 2004 set came with a bonus disc.

Then what if for the 2006 DVDs we got the 2004 supplements spread across 3 bonus discs, plus another featurette or two, plus the 1993 versions. Then for the blu-ray, they give us all the same extras, plus another documentary. Then for the 3D release, it's the same extras again, plus a "From 2D to 3D" behind the scenes kind of thing...

So by 2014 or whatever, half of the extras that will be coming with the 3D versions will be the same content from the 2004 DVDs. At least by releasing all-new content every release, they are making an effort to bring a lot of new content to the table, rather than tacking a few featurettes on.

Truth be told, this set seems to be slightly geared towards those who have the DVDs, because I really don't see a good reason for not including empire of dreams on Disc 9.

If there's anyone else who agrees, it would be nice to hear from you Otherwise I'll just step back into the shadows if no one shares my point of view.
