Their DVDs of The Kremlin Letter, Violent Saturday, and Woman Obsessed (all Fox) are also well past the 3-year date and are still available.

However, there's no reason to expect that TT's contracts with Sony are the same as their contracts with Fox.

In any event, if it's true that TT is required to destroy all unsold copies of Sony-licensed titles, I imagine that they'd make an announcement to that effect, if for no other reason than to encourage fence-sitters to buy copies before they are no more.

They could easily have a 3 year deal that allows them to sell remaining stock after the deal expires, just without exclusivity.

TT may have to cut the price on it eventually.
According to Moe Dickstein, quoted above, this specifically applies to Sony titles, not Fox. Now, that post is 1.5 years old but it still remains to be seen if it's true or not.

I'm sure this is the case. The 3 year deal is for exclusivity rights with the limiting factor being the 3000 copies. Makes no sense to limit both the number of copies you can sell AND how long you have to sell them. Besides, they would have said something by now.

Just pre-ordered "The Purple Rose of Cairo". Having heard of but never seen the movie, the trailer looked good. Unfortunately Woody Allen is a hit and miss director for me like Hitchcock, so hopefully this is good. Abysmal cover for the movie though.....

Nice to hear about "Devil in a Blue dress".

Would someone mind posting a link? After an admittedly cursory search, I couldn't find the mention.

Nice, that'll potentially be the 3rd Poitier film being released in 2015 (Kino will be releasing They Call Me Mr. Tibbs, and The Organization)

Sheesh we have definitely tripped over into a new era wherein even Sony is not releasing their own 'prestige' catalogers. I will table plans to get the German BD pending more deets on this TT.

(P.S. - If even SPHE can't make it pencil out to release esteemed catalogers when their corporate parent is a BD format patent holder/profit participant, this seemingly doesn't bode well for their 4k BD support? Three to five years ago, they did their own releases of Kramer vs. Kramer, Gandhi and Bridge On the River Kwai, et al. Now they're licensing Philadelphia, The Way We Were and GWCTD.)

And yet they just (thankfully) released Mr. Smith Goes to Washington themselves. Sony makes no sense in regards to their Blu-ray catalog anymore, but I guess I'm happy that they are coming out one way or the other, even if Twilight Time releases are much more than what Sony's own releases would be.

Twilight Time will keep eating them up as long as Sony keeps feeding their catalog to them, and good for them.

The European edition is Region Free, has lossless audio, many language options and subtitles, and is loaded with extras from what I see in the back cover.
So, for anyone that would be interested in the film I don't see any point in buying the TT release.
Unless it has a much much better picture! (or someone is interested in an audio commentary/isolated score)
(which i doubt it. The European edition looks already quite good. i don't see how it could be improved substantially in the video department)
