Four solid announcements. Will happily upgrade my DVDs of THE LAST HURRAH and THE BRAVADOS.

I hope their Bravados disc is better than the German one. The German wasn't terrible, but a lot of room for improvement.

I just watched my German copy of it a month or so back. I thought it looked great for the most part. Can't remember any real issues with it.

Good movie, but I'm content with the copy I already have.

I believe The Other Side Of Midnight was the big prestige picture for Fox in the summer of '77. They extorted theater owners who were eager to get it by making them book another title they had- something called Star Wars IIRC.

THE OTHER SIDE OF MIDNIGHT (1977) BLU-RAY - September 18th

It might cost more at the outset, but if it eliminates the need to replace items, it might be cheaper in the long run.

I remember The Other Side Of Midnight being on one of the other screens at the three-plex I saw Star Wars at. I'll wind up grabbing this; the eye candy of Marie-France Pisier and young Susan Sarandon justifies the purchase.

Most newer Fox releases from TT recieved new scans (Doctor Dolittle and The Seven-Ups for example). However since the German one was released a year ago it is a strong possibility of using that same master.

Agreed. Discovered this gem for the first time earlier this year and it has become one of my favorite films that Twilight Time has released.

Hello there,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I've actually only been on the Twilight Time bandwagon for about a year, in some part because I hail from the unremarkable European country of Portugal and don't have as much money to spend as I would like. I have been buying several sold out titles from Amazon, and I've been very pleased with my purchases despite the price. I think I'm actually a bit young compared to a lot of the other posters interested in this type of content (I'm only 23) but I love these older films and the era they come from.
This is only my third sale: I got four titles back in last September and three in the 15-15-15 sale last month, and despite being always on the lookout for the next, this one really took me by surprise. One of the titles on my list completely sold out in less than 24 hours (HUSH...HUSH, SWEET CHARLOTTE) and by the time I got to the bank two more were gone from SAE.
I settled on three others from my list that seem to be in the biggest danger of selling out and got another one I really wanted:
  • THE PRIME OF MISS JEAN BRODIE (Really interesting to see actresses like Maggie Smith that most us young'uns only see on Harry Potter, Hook And Downton Abbey so young, and winning an oscar to boot!)
  • ANASTASIA(Another oscar winning performance, an Alfred Newman score, and a huge Cinemascope production? Hell yes!)
  • JULIA(More Oscar winners, and a major film from 1977)
  • THE KEYS OF THE KINGDOM(I love these 30s/40s FOX super-productions like HOW GREEn WAS MY VALLEY and THE SONG OF BERNADETTE, and can´t wait for Twilight Time to put out WILSON and THE RAINS CAME)
Then yesterday I managed to scrounge up enough money to buy the other two titles I missed on SAE from Twilight Time's site, my first time buying from them:
  1. HOUSE OF BAMBOO(This one's plot seemed interesting, I love 50s cinemascope and the transfer looked outstanding.)
  2. THE YOUNG LIONS(Another great transfer, a neat premise and plenty of stars for only 10 bucks)
Gotta tip my hat to TT, they shipped it imediately and without hassle!

I'm only 22 and love "discovering" the films they've released such as Emperor of the North, House of Bamboo, Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte, Pretty Poison and The Train. Just over a year ago I bought "The Purple Rose of Cairo" on eBay (Before it sold out), I sold it because I felt I overpayed (I paid 25); now I can safely say I'm hooked on TT. People like to hate on TT for charging "Criterion prices" for sometimes bare features but they forget that 3,000 copies for a "niche" (sometimes) title is going to be bare in most cases.

The Bravados and The Other Side of Midnight are the two that really jump out at me from the September lineup.

Worth repeating myself: House of Bamboo & Stormy Weather are both classics that would be well at home in any collection. Get 'em before you can't.

I watched “House of Bamboo” and “Pretty Poison”. “House of Bamboo” what an excellent noir set and shot in Japan. Bamboo is my first taste of Fuller and I’ll definitely pick up “The Crimson Kimino” and “Underworld USA” down the line; glad I picked Bamboo up beforebitbsold out. I didn’t know what to expect for “Pretty Poison” but man what a wild ride. Both had stunning transfers.

THE LAST HURRAH (1958) BLU-RAY - September 18th

IN MY COUNTRY (2004) BLU-RAY - September 18th

THE OTHER SIDE OF MIDNIGHT (1977) BLU-RAY - September 18th

THE BRAVADOS (1958) BLU-RAY - September 18th

Very excited about The Last Hurrah. This has been on my want list for a while. John Ford and Spencer Tracy: Sold! Not as familiar with the other announcements, but will check them out.

Another Columbia movie from that same period that I’d Like to see is The Last Angry Man with the great Paul Muni.
