But what does a "good seller" really mean? A release could move a large amount of copies (i.e. good seller) but be a bust financially just as it could be selling poorly, moving fewer copies than predicted, but bring a return on their investment (i.e. good seller).

Agreed. Just give us the Phantasm series as a collection set for Halloween release and that's all I want...Rawhead Rex would be great too

It certainly makes me question a lot of things they say about what is and isn't selling well going forward.
They definitely said it was a bad seller a while back. That was probably around the time it got massively price-dropped, so probably they just ended up selling a lot of copies and not making much profit or something. It's probably my second favorite movie they've released after Ginger Snaps, too bad that it got relegated to the bargain bin.

I wouldn't expect everyone to like it, as with any film, but I would still be interested in seeing a release.

Oh I certainly wouldn't begrudge any title that hasn't been previously released on Blu-ray a release. I realize there are a lot of fans of this film and I imagine it would do well for Scream.

As a huge Phantasm (1979) fan, I would really like to see it get the deluxe treatment. In the way that The Beyond was released from Grindhouse. I would hate to see Scream Factory release it after what Motel Hell looked liked. As far as The Stuff, Village of the Damned and the Phantasm sequels are concerned I have no issue buying those from Scream Factory. I already own their release of Phantasm II. Phantasm (1979) deserves the royal treatment IMO, treatment that I just don't believe Scream Factory is willing to deliver.

I can't see Scream improving the Japanese Night of the Living Dead disc and they already did Day of the Dead, so I don't know why people keep saying "trilogy box set."

I hope they do Dawn of the Dead someday with a new scan, but I don't need no trilogy box set with stuff I already have in it.

Mainstream titles are usually what SF announces at the SDCC, so I feel like thinking big this year and going out on a total limb here- I could be wrong, but who cares
I'd be somewhat surprised if they were able to grab Bubba Ho-Tep, but not the rest of the Phantasm films, since the rights have apparently reverted back to Coscarelli per their last Killer POV podcast.

I'd be very surprised if they licensed a Victor Salva film, especially one that's already been released on Blu-Ray with multiple packaging varieties.

If the rights are with Don C. then that changes everything. I did hear a rumor (nothing confirmed or official) about Shout possibly having Bubba Ho Tep, so if its true this would be a good place to announce it .. but again its only a rumor, no real legs to it other than *they might* please take it with a grain of salt.

Even if they don't improve on it, there hasn't been a legit US release of Night, and they already have Day. So it's not that much of a stretch to think that if they get Night/Dawn, they'll package it with Day. Including Day allows them to bump up the MSRP a bit.

It didn't stop them from releasing the Halloween set, in which a majority of the discs were repackages that many of us already had. The Producer's Cut was the main attraction, and if you want that, you have to buy the others.

If this set comes to fruition, I predict a similar scenario - if you want Night and the various cuts of Dawn, you have to buy Day as well.

What are the chances of SF releasing Hell Night, House and Deadly Friend?

I'd love those three.

Speaking of Coscarelli on Blu-ray, it would be nice if Scream Factory could snap up Survival Quest. I got the long OOP DVD from Anchor Bay years ago but it's barely watchable due to the picture quality.

Also, I wonder if Phantasm V would be included in the Phantasm set if it were indeed announced.

Don't know about Hell Night, but House is supposedly with Image, and Deadly Friend is with WB.

Has this been confirmed? How in the world did Image get ahold of Phantasm?? I thought the film was distributed by Nelson Entertainment, a company which is now part of the MGM library. This is awful if true

Damned if I know, but if Zbinks is correct that the rights are with the director now, that changes things. Rights change hands pretty quick. Image gobbled up a lot of movies Idle Hands, Hellraiser, Chud, The Stuff, Slugs..

We get this stuff in the Universal Monsters thread. People are quick to say that they "heard from a rep" that something was a good seller or a poor seller and then they try to draw conclusions about other titles.

The guesswork can be fun and entertaining but it's still guesswork.
You can't take anyone seriously who proclaims that they heard it from a sales rep. You're right, these people are making pronouncements based on their own conjecture and speculation, which in essence is nothing more then "guesswork". I could probably draw the same conclusion by gazing into a crystal ball. Unless these claims are coming from " industry insiders", those kind of posts should be taken with a big grain of salt.

I'm just going off of what Cliff MacMillan and Jeff Nelson said a few weeks ago at the 1:26:15 mark during the last Killer POV podcast.

Oh I get why they might do it out of financial interest, I just don't get why people are asking for them to do it. Presumably they own Day already and Night is an $11 import (maybe $16 or so after shipping) so it really seems like shooting yourself in the foot to me to ask for that scenario.

If Scream Factory put out a quality version of Night of the Living Dead, it would sell like hotcakes - one of their top 10 sellers.
