I am THRILLED about Jeepers Creepers 1 & 2 (I almost bought the combo pack a while back). Preordering them for sure.

I think you are right. Also, given some of the studio titles that already had pretty decent editions that they've released/will release (Dr. Strangelove, Dressed to Kill) it wouldn't surprise me if they changed their minds and decided to do Silence of the Lambs again.

+1 for The Silence of the Lambs, if it is true

To be fair, Criterion is probably re-releasing Dr. Strangelove because it is out of print, and the only place to find a new copy in the US is at Best buy.

Just to be clear - when I say this, I'm not speaking for my own interests. I'd much prefer to see Scream not waste their time and resources on re-releasing titles, and concentrate on newer stuff. But looking at the business side of things, I understand that they need bigger titles in order to keep putting out the more obscure ones, in order to keep the line alive. And I guess they must sell well (or at least, Scream think they'll sell), because otherwise they wouldn't do it. And I think everyone would admit at this point that the list of unreleased Universal, MGM and Fox titles are getting smaller and smaller, and 'bigger' titles at a real premium. The Morgan Creek deal is useful, but still offers fairly limited potential, especially in the way of CE's (Bad Moon is unlikely to get one, for example). Now if Scream can get a deal with another catalogue - say, Paramount once their Warner deal expires - that could really give the potential pool of CE's a shot in the arm. But as it stands, they can't really do much different if they plan on continuing with CE's.

Every person that frequents this thread would have their head explode if Scream Got The Paramount library. Collectors editions of the Friday the 13th Series would all but be a given, as would (I Hope) Tales from the Darkside, My Bloody Valentine '81, Pet Sematary Two, Children of the Corn 1- A Billion, The Keep, and countless others.

Children of the Corn? The first is with Image via Lakeshore, and the rest are all with Lionsgate via Dimension.

What about part 2? You're correct about the rest and in my haste I listed all of them in error, also forgetting about the Image release.

I wonder why The Fly II (1989) remains MIA on blu-ray? I'd much rather get something like that versus redundant re-releases.

Part 2 is Dimension. And therefore Lionsgate.

As for Jeepers Creepers. I really dig the artwork and the release does make sense and is a good fit for the line, but unless these are mind-blowingly awesome with amazing transfers and/or some crazy special features I'm content with my MGM releases.

Covers for those who haven't seen them.

Oh ok. So i widh for invasion of the body snatchers then.

What about the original version of The Fly?

Someone wishlisted Hannibal last page and that person should just import the UK edition, since it looks great, has tons of features and is region-free and super cheap.

I rented Jeepers Creepers way back when and don't remember a damn thing about it.

Some of the best monster movies of recent years IMO. The beginning of the first one is such and excellent set-up.

I was bummed when the ordinary release left out all the extras from the DVD edition end therefore never got around to buy it. Will definitely get these two!

I do not recall a "massive shitstorm" when MGM released them both as special editions on DVD, and later barebones on BD, but maybe that is just me?

For sure, the controversy mostly concerns Clownhouse (and in som extend spread to Powder, IIRC primarily because it was distributed by Disney's distribution company Buena Vista, which some felt should not have anything to do with Victor Salva).

No one (at least on that page) wishlisted Hannibal. I am talking about the very realistic prospect of what Scream might target to re-release as Collector's Editions, rather than what I or other people are actually requesting. And certainly, it did not bother Scream that very comprehensive editions of TCM2 and Return of the Living Dead had already been released in the UK, so I suspect international releases don't factor into their thinking.

As I said before, Scream have already announced for this year 5 Collector's Editions of titles previously released on Blu-ray by MGM. Like it or not, I don't see this tactic changing.

I am not a big fan of re-releases, but I am overexcited with Jeepers Creepers announcement as I almost bought MGM releases - and I truly love these flicks

I get what you're saying. Shout needs the better-known titles to enhance visibility - this is actually a very good tactic. I just wade through the stuff I already own and grab the ones I don't. It just seems there's a LOT of wading to get through. Occasionally I find myself thinking "OK, I already have this, next!" One area where I wish Shout would look into more is the independently-produced horror film. Lately most of the announcements are for studio films, which itself isn't a bad thing, but I'm more of a fan of gritty, hard-edged un-PC stuff - usually not a major studio staple.

I know what you mean. Class of '84 in particular was a welcome surprise, and one of my favourite Scream releases. It's a shame Scream don't go after more independently-produced stuff, but the I suspect they're happy to leave this to the likes of Code Red, Scorpion and Arrow. Their remit is by and large studio catalogue titles and they've generally done a solid job with this.

If releasing Collector's Editions of well-known previously-released MGM titles mean we get the likes of Sonny Boy and Destroyer, and, hopefully at some point, Enemy Territory and Rolling Vengeance, I'm completely down with that. As you say, it's a case of grabbing what you want. And since Scream usually release about 4-5 titles per month, there's usually something for everyone. I don't know how much longer they can go on doing this, but we should probably just enjoy it while we can.

With regard to 'new' Collector's Editions, I struggle to see anything left in MGM's catalogue that might qualify, except, perhaps, The Resurrected, should they ever clear the music rights issues surrounding it. With Universal, there are a few more candidates (Jaws sequels, The 'Burbs, Matinee, Serial Mom, Tales from the Hood, Session 9, Cry_Wolf, Slither), but as we all know, quite a few of these have been shot down for various reasons. With Morgan Creek, we'll surely get Exorcist III, while the two Exorcist prequels are also possible, and maybe Dead Ringers if Criterion don't get there first. If they do get another Fox deal, perhaps they might consider Shock Treatment, The Fly 2 and even Strange Days as CE's. But otherwise I just don't see much potential there for 'new' CE's, unless they can get into another large studio catalogue.

Hoping sales have been good for the catalog studio titles so that Scream can release some obscure slashers. I think that's one area they're lacking currently.

Though, Arrow and Code Red seem to be focusing a decent amount of attention on those.
