It would be the same ones Classic Media released to DVD. And it's already been explained that Shout only gained the digital rights for those films so far.

I'd be surprised if it wasn't one of those 'all the budget went into making new HD masters' affairs. And since Scream frequently dismissed the prospect of Slumber Party Massacre 2 and 3 based on lacklustre sales of the first, I think people should probably just be grateful this release is happening at all.

Interesting. I just thought it was the Bing Crosby estate (or whoever owns those productions) playing hardball all these years, given that the likes of Willard and The Reincarnation of Peter Proud have never seen a release either. I know some of their titles are with Universal and Paramount, but I guess not all. I'd say Peter Proud and Arnold must be on the cards if Scream secured a package deal. There's not much there beyond that but those two would be welcome releases.

I was told this :

the two *Rat* titles were with a law firm actually.. the rights were with Bing Crosby and they obviously were open to dealing them, but Ben had to get cleared in court. Now I miss Michael Jackson. Too many great musical artists have left us

An American Werewolf in London, Basket Case sequels, Ben, Beware! The Blob, Black Christmas, Bubba Ho-Tep, Carrie, Child's Play, The Exorcist III, Frankenstein sequels, Hammer Horror, The Hills Have Eyes, Poltergeist sequels, Psycho IV: The Beginning, Stephen King's It, The Thing, Willard, The Wolf Man spin-offs. But no Silence of the Lambs for it's 25th anniversary or this Halloween? I'm baffled. BAFFLED I tell you.

I'm sure it will have the exact same extras as the DVD release... Poster/photo stills, original theatrical trailers, and the Full Sleepless Nights Documentary instead of the shortened one included on the original Blu Ray (which is pretty excellent in my opinion.). Add in the old commentaries, possibly a new one for each film, some new interviews if anyone is willing to participate and we have a nice double feature. The Sleepless Nights Documentary in full is worth the price alone, so I'll be perfectly fine with the DVD features just being ported and included in HD.

Not sure about Last House, but in a lot of these cases like The Thing, Return of the Living Dead, etc. the big appeal is a new transfer. In a lot of other cases the big appeal is a new set of features for titles without that. Scream rarely put out something with improving in one of those areas, Mad Max being an unfortunate exception.

Somerville House.

So might Murder by Decree be possible? That would be a great choice for the line, perhaps my favourite Sherlock film. I guess Lionsgate must have licenced it for DVD release back in 2009 but maybe Blu-ray rights are a separate thing.

Blackout would be an interesting selection as well. Hopefully they grabbed all 4 if available.

I think the US / Canadian rights for Murder by Decree are separate. I'm pretty sure StudioCanal holds the US rights.

Very unfortunate. I forgot there's a Studio Canal logo on the back of the Anchor Bay DVD, so that rules that one out.

Don't forget that the DVD commentary for Part II was recalled and edited. Not sure which version, if any, will be on the Blu ray.

Either way, I am glad Shout came to their senses and we will be able to have all of the Slumber Party Massacre films in HD! Now someone, please bring on Sorority House Massacre II!

Fantastic news about THE HOUSE THAT SCREAMED and BLACK CHRISTMAS, Day One for me.

The English and Spanish versions of HOUSE THAT SCREAMED are variant cuts. It has been opined that MGM may have an uncut print of SCREAMED, due to the film being shown uncut on TV in the 1990's via Orion Pictures, but I can't verify that at this time.

Cliff is really taking care of us!

The Great Owl's thought process while browsing at a used movie store today...

"Let's see what's on the five-dollar Blu-ray rack..."

"Oh, cool! The Strangers! I loved this movie when I saw it in the theater in 2008, and I've been wanting to upgrade my old DVD for a while now. I knew that I'd see it on this cheap rack someday if I kept looking! Man, this movie freaks me out.... When Liv Tyler looks out that window and sees the person in the mask out in the yard staring directly right back at her... Oh man...that's just awesome horror cinema."

*Picks up The Strangers, starts to walk to the checkout line.*

"Wait... Not so fast. You know that Scream Factory is probably going to announce an even better reissue of this title pretty soon. They always do that right after you buy an old Blu-ray of horror film."

"Yeah.... It's only five dollars, though."

"I'm telling you... If you purchase this Blu-ray right now, then Scream Factory will somehow know that you purchased it, and they'll announce a re-release of it soon. In fact, you'll probably see the announcement in five minutes when you get home and get on Facebook."

"I know, I know, I know. Whatever... It's only five dollars, and I want to see The Strangers again now, not later."

"You've been warned. You'll be sorry. Ohhhhhh... You'll be sorry."

*Buys The Strangers Blu-ray for five dollars, and walks out of store.*

"You realize that Scream Factory already knows that you made that purchase, don't you? They're probably inquiring about rights to the original camera negative right now."

"Shut up."

I'm sure it was released on VHS at some point but Shout previously released it on DVD in 2010. I bought that DVD sight unseen because I'm a Carpenter fan and enjoyed it a lot. Kurt Russell, of course, is dynamite as Elvis.

As long as it is, I'm pretty sure it was originally a mini-series shown over two nights. As for what era it covers, it goes up to 1970.

Incredible slate of titles. Between Blatty's cut of The Exorcist III and the titles announced last night, I haven't been this excited for Scream releases since Nightbreed.

It reportedly still exists, but it'll be a cold day in Hell before it sees the light of day. Gary Sherman adamantly denies that it was filmed, while multiple crew members (and Kip Wentz) say that it was & that the theatrical ending was a total reshoot planned before O'Rourke's death.

I'd absolutely love to be proven wrong, though, and would plunk down the cash ASAP.
