I have not seen poltergeist 2 and 3.. and if i buy them it would be just to collect them.. so i was wondering if they were okay or just decent enough that it wouldnt be a complete waste of money.. because if they are just plain flat out boring or terrible i wont both.. any opinions? Thanks

I know it's probably been asked a thousand times, but is there a list on here of all the OOP/Rare Scream Factory slipcovers? I'm starting to get into these and I see so many of them with slipcovers at my local used video stores, but I want to make sure I grab the rare and hard to find ones up first. Thanks!

Both are kinda mediocre, when you compare them to the first movie. But I used to like part two a lot, back when I was a kid - especially because of by Julian Beck, whose appearance is rather spooky.
I did not find it quite as good last time I watched it. But I think I will upgrade my current BD anyway. I have actually never seen part III. |

I liked the 3rd one, but I'm not a fan of part 2.

I kinda like that. It shows that they are within a franchise without compromising the ideal of original artwork. Wouldn't be the first time such a circumstance arose from SF: Demon Knight/Bordello of Blood; Sleepaway Camp 2&3; Jeepers Creepers 1&2...

Any chance you guys are aware of a site selling Slipcovers? Had to ImportCD's 'Demon Knight' and as you know with those guys - It's a gamble if you get one or not.
Thank you |

Those seem to mostly be sold by owners of the discs themselves. Some people around here put up a list of slipcovers they want and make things happen with other users.

Will likely pass on Poltergeist 2 & 3. IIRC I had these on a double feature DVD (it may have been separate releases...it's been a while) and while part 2 was mediocre, part 3 was actively lousy. Can't imagine feeling a need to watch either of them again.
Whereas with the first, I could watch JoBeth Williams wriggle across the ceiling in her underwear on repeat ad infinitum. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I just don't understand all the hate Poltergeist II get's. I consider it a far more interesting film and one that I'd much rather watch repeatedly over the original. The difference between Poltergeist and Poltergeist II for me is similar to the differences between Alien and Alien 2. Both sequels took what was done in the original and expanded on it in a more interesting way. Reverend Kaine has to be one of the most under appreciated boogeyman in all of Horror and is the reason I consider the sequel to be superior to the original in a lot of ways.
I fully understand how/why people enjoy the first film over the 2nd... what I don't get is how you can find the first film enjoyable and then dislike the 2nd so much. Even the third film which suffers from a variety of problems isn't nearly as bad as many make it out to be. All 3 are very competently made late 80's/early 90's horror films that are worth revisiting on occasion. I already own the MGM releases of these so they currently aren't a priority for me, however they are on my list of upgrades for the future and I am happy that Scream Factory is finally giving them the attention they deserve. |
