As for the Paramount titles, is a Friday the 13th box set out of question?

October is light but that Omen set kind of makes up for it IMO. The Blob is also a big pickup for them despite the fact there was a previous edition, albeit limited and it sold out quickly. I'd love to see more Warner titles make the November lineup but they're probably done with that license for now. Needless to say, if we get more Warner and some Paramount titles announced next month that would be fantastic.

Weren't the Halloween 2 and 3 steels announced at comic-con last year? Am I misremembering?

I'll agree that although October is light, it's still a huge month. The Blob is a huge pickup for them. It's a true classic of 80s horror, almost a highlight reel (along with the Thing and a few others) for high points within the genre. And that Omen set is spectacular, as well. These will be my first SF preorders in a long time.

The Devil Rides Out is a huge title for Hammer fans.

I think a Friday the 13th set is quite possible if they really do have a paramount deal...

I still have a problem saying it's a huge month when those two have both been released before in Blu-ray. Just doesn't feel huge. It's a weird time I think that things are being called great or huge when compared to the past they really aren't. I guess you could say they are huge for where we are in Blu-ray now.

I would definitely pick up a F13 set, but I’m perfectly happy with Paramount’s 8-film set, which had pretty good transfers/extras sans Part 3D. Something tells me that Paramount would only be interested in licensing out titles that they haven’t put out on Blu-ray themselves. Regardless, I’m sure Scream Factory is very, very interested in the F13 films. Maybe they have a separate deal with Warner for the other films so they can do a complete set.

Not quite sure about that. The boxset for 1-8 was released while the lawsuit was going on and Friday the 13th The Game is coming to Nintendo Switch later this year. I think it only prevents new films from being made but not home video releases of existing films. I might be wrong.

The lawsuit does NOT affect the existing films at all. It’s only for future content.

I understand your reasoning, but I think it feels like a bigger month to me because it feels like Scream Factory's momentum is revving up again, and it feels like they're gearing up for some big titles. Who knows what's truly in store, but it feels like they've been riding low key the last six months, and are about to go big again.

I think there is some licensing issues as well here, as NECA is affected now.
They can only release figures they have already announced, nothing new can come out.

Speaking of Friday the 13th .... I would loove to see Susan Jennifer Sullivan ( Melissa from part 7) do an interview or a convention... the creators of the Crystal Lake Memories documentary did say they made a mistake and tracked the wrong Susan Sullivan and that she isnt dead.. just wishful thinking.. kinda just wanna know.. but I doubt she'll ever speak up..

Still no exact number but I like the sound of 'long list'! Hopefully there's about 15 releases announced.

Yep. They’re allowed to still produce the figures they’ve already announced or released in the past, but can’t make any new ones. It’s just like the video game, which can still be marketed (and even recently got a Nintendo Switch release), but no new content or DLC can be created.

A new F13 movie cannot be greenlit right now, but Paramount and Warner are still allowed to exploit the existing films they own however they please.

I wish people understood this. Paramount and New Line Cinema/WB can do as they wish with the films they own (I.E. release them on home video or exhibit them in any way), the suit only affects new content going forward. It was already suspected that the longer the suit goes on it would eventually affect new merchandising, as is the case with NECA.

But home media won't be affected as the studio's rights to their previous content doesn't fall under the purview of the lawsuit. Interviews/special features should also be exempt from this as well. Still, someone should probably ask Larry Zerner (Shelly from Part 3 and Lawyer who has been keeping the fanbase apprised of the situation) on Twitter, just to be sure.

As for the possibility of another Friday boxset, my first hopes is for a Nightmare set instead, as it is the one that needs it most. But, if a Friday boxset should appear from Scream Factory, it is the ONLY hope for Part 3 in 3D and I'm all for that.

So they can release the movies themselves, but no other product from the movies?

Correct. Paramount’s been in a similar situation for decades because they own the Friday the 13th title, but Warner/New Line has owned the Jason Voorhees character (but not the F13 title). That’s why he wasn’t in the “Lost Tales From Camp Blood” shorts on the DVDs. Both studios had to work together on the 2009 reboot. Warner/New Line apparently did license Jason to Paramount so they could do a new film by themselves, but that expired even before the lawsuit (they did green light a project, but canceled it after Rings bombed. This was before the new Halloween reboot revived interest in old slasher franchises).
