To me, GS doesn’t really feel like a King property at all. It’s an incredibly grimy B movie creature feature. It takes a while to get burning, but once it does it’s a lot of fun. The creature effects are pretty gnarly.

So, yeah, no real comparison to SB. There’s no nostalgic small town vibe to this one.

No doubt. Also, 1992's Jennifer 8. Not a great movie, but the cinematography is beautiful and the cast includes Andy Garcia, Uma Thurman, and Lance Henriksen.

I remember it being a pretty grimy film as well, haven't seen it since it was first released though. Tonal-wise, I think it's probably closer to The Mangler when it comes to Stephen King based films, helps that it's also part of the Night Shift collection.

Definitely in for Kiss of the Vampire, and likely in for War of the Colossal Beast.

The only thing that's any good about Graveyard Shift is Gordon Smith's makeup effects. The acting, the dialogue, the characters, the pacing, the inexplicable end credits "song"...it's a trainwreck. I saw it on Halloween 1990 for free, and I wanted a refund. (Watched it again 2 years ago, and it hasn't gotten any better.)

Jade (Director's cut)
Sliver (Unrated cut in proper aspect ratio, possibly with original intro and ending)

SK's Graveyard Shift always stuck with me because the setting is profoundly miserable and hopeless. The textile mill feels so so claustrophobic and dingy, it's like a towering coffin.

If this scene doesn't get the job done nothing will. As I said in the Graveyard Shift thread, I've long suspected that Quentin Tarantino had a hand in writing it.

Personally, I think it's best to not get ones hopes up, and expect the worst, while hoping for the best. That way, one is less likely to be disappointed. Especially in this case, since it's unlikely they're going to be able to bring Polanski into the studio for a commentary or an interview.

That all said, it not being branded a "Collector's Edition" doesn't mean anything concerning bonus features. Just off the top of my head, their TerrorVision/The Video Dead set and their Witchboard release had more extras than some of their Collector's Editions. All the CE label guarantees is a slipcover in the initial pressing.

Marketability. Films like Halloween 2 and 3, The Howling, Escape From New York, etc., are much more well known to the more "casual" horror fans compared to stuff like Witchboard or Evilspeak. Hence they get the "fancier" treatment.

I'm pleasantly surprised SF got The Tenant, I definitely thought Criterion was going to scoop it up and complete the Apartment Trilogy..... Let's hope they pack this full of extras!!!

I wouldn't disagree with you, but if this does come I suspect it will be in the Shout Select line rather than Scream Factory (I think the same of Friedkin's The Hunted). I mean, I guess the same could be said of something like Breakdown, but of the two I'd say that has more elements in keeping with the Scream brand.

Well he said he was already disappointed so I guess the likelihood in that case is 100%. Tempering expectations is a good way to go I'll agree, being negative immediately is foolish. Just gets tiring seeing people complain so much, many times right after a title is released that many were clamoring for.

man, the hunted on blu would be great. i've always loved that movie even though it's a shameless riff on first blood.
