I'm betting that will either be a September or October release, so it can be released a little bit before Halloween to maximize sales.

Someone asked them about it on Facebook along with Orca and Tales from the Darkside, and they made it seem like they had all three.
Criterion also love Polanski films, yet Scream factory has The Tenant.

It's probably been mentioned elsewhere, but it's also worth bearing in mind that Friday the 13th was released on May 9, 1980. Now I believe May 9 this year falls on a Saturday, so that seems unlikely, but I don't see why Scream couldn't announce the set the day before and play on the '40 years ago, on this day...' thing. That would make it an August release (in theory), which would correlate with the claim that the set will arrive in late Summer. While September/October perhaps make more sense, I doubt it matters with a set of this magnitude. Moreover, the set would very likely end up being delayed by at least a few weeks anyway (I'd say this at most times, but especially in the current circumstances).

You're very likely correct, especially since Magic was recently added to Amazon Video under the Shout banner. Might be that they also have the home video rights to that as well, depending on the terms of MPI's existing arrangement.

I assume The Tenant will be basically barebones, which is very disappointing. To utter others, too bad CC didn't put this one out. Yes, it's better than not being out at all, but not having a nice side dish with my meal is always disappointing.

How can you be disappointed by YOUR assumption? Why assume the worst in the first place?

Because usually their 'Collectors Edition' releases have nice extras. That is probably going to be the case here. I could be wrong, but ASSUME I am not. We will find out soon.

Friday May 8th definitely seems like the soonest likely date.

I think a double feature of THE COLLOSAL MAN and WAR OF THE COLLOSAL BEAST would have been better.

There are standard Scream releases that have more bonus features than some CE's. Not just archival material but newly produced stuff too. There are CE's with 40 minutes worth of extras and standard editions with over three hours worth. I'm honestly not sure how Shout chooses what they mark as a "Collector's Edition" but the labeling itself doesn't seem to have any bearing over what extras will be included. Most of the time it seems to just be marked that to separate itself from any previous releases.

The Amazing Colossal Man is with Susan Hart. Rumor is that Shout is close to cutting a deal with her but she has had her fingers wrapped tightly around that and several other films for some time. But I do agree, it would have been nicer if they waited to do a double-feature set.

Agreed, but forget about it. Shout feels compelled to cash in on these vintage 50’s sci-fi titles as much as possible with overpriced single film releases. I’m glad they are coming out at all, but I’ve never been happy with Shout’s strategy on any of these releases. I save my money for them and try to get the best deal I can, but I often grit my teeth at Shout’s practices and nearly always hope for another label to get the rights. I’m grateful they are released at all, but it still doesn’t make me a Shout fan or defender. YMMV.

I know Shout's releases are over priced but they release the films I have been wanting for a long time and I love the extras they include on them. They are probably my favorite boutique label right now along with Criterion and Kino (mainly for the films they release, I understand they all tend to have QC issues).
I have been ordering like crazy (3 orders in 2 days) with the $10 off code since that brings many of the films on my want list down to the $18 to $20 range which is fair to me. I will be preordering some of these as well with that code. I am very happy with Shout right now...

MPI licensed several films from Westchester Films, prior to Shout! Factory's acquisition. I don't recall if Magic or Tattoo were part of that catalog, and the website was taken down a while ago, but it's possible that Shout! Factory owns the films, outright.
