people keep acting like these workprints are gonna be magical if they even exist. but maybe these are just assembly cuts. which are literally always made for every movie before they refine it in editing. they spent so little time on the scripts, it’s not like there would be a lot of material that didn’t get filmed.
Most fans would be interested in extra footage not for more story material, but to see how much violence or gore was edited out to secure an R-rating.

The lawsuit does not affect any of the extant films, just the ability to create new derivative story material (i.e. new films such as sequels or reboots, or extra levels on the video game).

Couldn't help myself with the sale and free shipping, snagged Jeepers Creepers 1 & 2, Candyman (for $11!), the funhouse, and the Paul Naschy collection 1 (came to $40). Overall I'm pleased as hell.

I can't help but wonder whether this means the chances for a new release of the Vincent Price movies just went up significantly?

I could definitely see Scream do a big box like the one Arrow did originally, or maybe even separate releases, like the Hammer films, if they can do new transfers of all the Corman titles.

And if Scream has a deal with Warner’s, is there a limitation? Like are only the highly old school WB titles off limits?
Their release is pretty damn good. Easily the best it's looked on Blu-Ray, and a good array of extras as well, including the isolated score track, meaning that if you can play region free discs, and don't bring movies out to watch when visiting others, you can replace the Twilight Time disc with this, no problem.

And Warner isn't known for licensing; up until a few years ago, their policy was no licensing, straight up. That changed with deals they've made with Criterion and Shout (with occasional one-offs to Twilight Time and Arrow, IIRC), but as SpaceBlackKnight said, the titles they license aren't exactly "big" titles. It's one of the reasons why, even though I'd love to see a Nightmare on Elm Street box set done like the Halloween set, I doubt it'll happen, with it having been a rather "big" franchise for the studio (at least at one time, anyway). But, as SBK also said, they have licensed out at least one "lesser" Kubrick title (in terms of popularity, not quality), so who knows?

but i already have the friday box set with the commentaries. and his name is jason. and the crystal lake memories limited edition blu. and the ebook.

are there going to be new commentaries? would there be a budget for behind the scenes? i love behind the scenes, but there really is no high art element to friday the 13th. so it’s not like you’re going to find anything out that hasn’t been farmed out with all the extra material there.

First off, if you didn't like the other Halloween movies, I don't see why you thought the big box set would be worth it, considering:
- The first movie only had one extra commentary; in terms of extras, the content is the same as what's available individually.
- The 3rd movie was, and still is, available individually, with the same bonus content
- Outside of the extended cut of Halloween (which used the same upscaled scenes found on the regular Blu-Ray), the majority of the extras left on the bonus disc either were available on other sources (like the HHG of the first movie), or pertained to the sequels, which you said you didn't like. And a lot of them got uploaded onto Youtube anyway.

Secondly, we get it, you're not a big fan of the Friday the 13th franchise overall. That's fine. I like the franchise as well, and I have no problem admitting that the films in the series aren't "good" films.

That said, up until a couple years ago, Friday the 13th was the highest grossing slasher series of all time (Halloween took it's place after the new film did so well). Jason Voorhees is an incredibly recognizable character, even among those whom aren't horror fans. The only set that had all the films in one package has been OOP for years, and even then, there was plenty of things people wanted that it didn't deliver on (all the movies on individual discs, the "proper" 3D version of Part 3, the uncut version of Jason Goes To Hell, etc.). There was an almost 7 hour long documentary about the entire franchise that managed to be pretty engrossing throughout, which shows that there's plenty of material that can be mined as far as extras are concerned.

Basically, even if you don't like the series, it shouldn't really be a mystery as to why people are excited for a potential set like this.

Seeing as how the other Price box sets went OOP due to them losing at least some of the film rights, I'd say it would be the opposite, at least from Shout/Scream.

It makes me glad I made sure to snag all three when they were available.

My money is on Arrow getting the rights here, too. Putting out individual releases and probably getting MGM more money than the collection releases. But that's just my guess as the work is already done for 11 titles to be released pretty quickly.

So Tattoo's a Fox title with no prior DVD release? Interesting. How did this one get a HD master then? For TV airings? In any case, at least it means they might still have a few Fox titles up their sleeves, I thought the deal had been exhausted given we haven't had a Fox title for a while.

Was expecting Graveyard Shift to be a CE. Though I suppose there isn't much reason for it to be. Pretty decent month tho.

Yeah, I figured their Fox deal was over, but apparently not. I'm still hoping for Death Sentence.

I'm almost certain the Dead Zone is coming. We just have to be patient. If it's not announced by Comic Con, I'm sure we'll know by then (If Comic Con even happens)If I was a betting man, I would say we should see this before October.

If they can still get Fox titles, I would LOVE a Shout Select release of Peter Yates' "Mother, Jugs and Speed", with Bill Cosby, Raquel Welch, Harvey Keitel, Larry Hagman, Bruce Davison, and L.Q. Jones. From 1976, I saw it in the drive-in back then. I've always loved it. I had always hoped that Twilight Time would put it out back in their heyday, but it wasn't to be.

Anyway, July's Scream titles are awesome! Great month.

I already have a blu of "Kiss of the Vampire". But I'll likely get all of the others.

Three of the titles I wanted most from this Paramount deal were April Fool's Day, Let's Scare Jessica to Death and The Dead Zone. I also think it's coming soon so it'll be three for three.

I hadn't realized there are some delays with some upcoming titles. I see "Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell" was delayed by over a month, and "Tales from the Darkside" was pushed back from June to August.

Oh well, it's to be expected, right now.

I have a feeling the distribution rights are controlled by Joseph E. Levine Productions or it's successor in interest, not Fox.

Magic was another Joseph E. Levine Productions / Fox title, but I don't think MPI licensed that from Fox.

Yeah, Dead Zone is one of my favorite films period. Always shocked that this didn't get an early Blu-ray. The only thing that might stop this from getting a release from Scream is Criterion who love Cronenberg films. Still, I'm pretty sure Shout has it. Someone asked them about it on Facebook along with Orca and Tales from the Darkside, and they made it seem like they had all three.
