Since I never bought Escape from New York, I'm excited about that. I already own the trilogy release for Mad Max, so I'm not double dipping for the first movie again.

I know those aren't the first movies that have nothing to do with horror to be released under the Scream Factory name, but it's still silly when they could just put them out under their regular Shout Factory brand.

The only way I'd double-dip for Mad Max or Escape from New York would be if the films themselves were extended cuts. So, pass. I would've seriously considered a Collector's Edition of The Crow, though.

There's an extended version of EFNY? I thought 99mins was it, across the board?
I agree about The Crow CE

I've long heard that EFNY is one of the worst transfers on bluray, so I've never bothered. If they get a new transfer I will definitely go for it, and might anyway cause I love anything with John Carpenter commentary tracks :P

Not a bad line-up. Dolls will be epic. Candyman 2, Monkey Shines, New Year's Evil, Invaders From Mars, The Dark Half, Phantom of the Opera... all easy purchases even if they're not top tier stuff.

I guess I don't understand all the re-releases? I had hoped that would be an exception for a few standout titles because unless the transfer will be remastered it seems like a cash grab [and SF rarely remasters].

If you're talking about the US release, you definitely heard wrong. Now it's not a 5/5 reference material disc, but for this type of film, and how it was shot(almost all at night)...it's a pretty solid transfer. Much better than the UK and Italian discs, that's for sure!
If anything the biggest weak spot of this US release is the fact that it's totally barebones - a stabbing pain that still throbs! Of course I'll never get rid of my Special Edition dvd so it's not that big of a deal, for me.
There has been talk of maybe MGM doing another, "lighter" transfer that aired on MGMHD OTA. Although I prefer the US BD myself, it should be interesting to see if SF does some tweaking.

Judging by the number of collections they're found in, the re-releases sell pretty well. Why not release the definitive US edition of a popular title?

But yeah, it would be amazing if stuff like Darkman had gotten a remaster, but Shout only has so much money for these things sadly.

Oh, I'm sure it is. I have no idea if an extended EFNY exists. But if it did, and Shout/Scream released it, I'd give it a buy.

It would be cool if they could release Showdown In Little Tokyo.

The Dark Half. For some reason I never saw it but know of it. It's always nice to have more Stephen King films on Blu-Ray. If only Maximum Overdrive will get released here in region A.

Invaders from Mars. I haven't seen it in years so it's nice to know it's going to be on BD.

Mad Max Collector’s Edition. I like it but never got it before.

Escape From New York Collector’s Edition. Didn't get it yet so very sweet it's in a CE instead of barebones.

I'll double dip on Escape From New York, and likely will for Mad Max as well. Invaders From Mars and UHF are the other two big ones for me.

All ten titles are MGM; that's actually kind of disappointing. And if we're being honest, some of these are fairly mediocre: Monkey Shines, Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh, Invaders from Mars...Hell, even Dolls is just okay.

I can't really say that I'm super-excited for any of them, though New Year's Evil is close. I've wanted to see The Dark Half for awhile now, but since the DVD was full screen I held off. Phantom of the Opera '89 is another I've wanted to check out, so there's that...

Zero interest in the two re-releases.

Nice! i want them all and i'm glad i don't own the original Escape BD as the BD sucked and i hope they do a new restoration with new PQ supervised by Carpenter himself and a new transfer to Mad Max as i don't own the original BD. I'll sell my old MM, Escape 2-disc DVD, Dolls, Monkey Shines, TDH, Candyman DVDs and get the BDs. And finally NYE will be avaliable to the public after those bootleg DVDs.

I own the Mad Max Collection, so I don't know if I'll double dip for that. More extras would be nice, but the Collection is pretty solid.

I WILL double dip for Escape from New York, though!

I'm in for the rest, too.

Cliff or anyone from SF if you are reading this, now that Dolls is announced, please consider releasing a collector's edition of Child's Play 2 and 3 in fall of 2015.

That would be incredible....but don't count on it. lol

I just realized, besides getting all of the previous extras on this new release and new ones, AND likely awesome new art, we'll ALSO get the original badass poster art on the reverse instead of the crap cover on the current U.S. release!

Of the titles mentioned, Escape from NY is definitely the highlight.

Monkey Shines, New Year's Evil, Dolls, and Mad Max are definitely cool titles that I'll pick up.

Candyman II and The Dark Half are the only two head scratchers for me.

No Candyman, but Candyman II? Just seems kind of odd.

And I'm not a huge fan of The Dark Half, but I know it's one that people enjoy.
