I personally think it's a good sign that Universal want to re-release movies like The Thing themselves. Hopefully it means more 4k scans like Apollo 13 got.

I know you guys love your obscure horror titles, but I am more hoping Scream continue to branch out a bit. I love that they're doing Manhunter and hope for more of that type of thing, personally.

I imagine we should find out April's titles very soon. Village of the Damned is now confirmed, but there could be another 3 or 4 on top of that. The following remain without a date (I'm only referring to retro titles here):

Destroyer/Edge of Sanity
Lady in White
Sssssss
You'll Like My Mother
Death Becomes Her
Return of the Living Dead (Collector's Edition)
Manhunter (Collector's Edition)
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 (Collector's Edition)

Of these, I think it might be too early for Manhunter, Return of the Living Dead, Lady in White (I think Scream said late Spring/early Summer recently), Sssssss (another 'late Spring/early Summer') and You'll Like My Mother (given that Scream said this would be released around Mother's Day, so presumably May). Given that the art is on Amazon Canada, I suspect we might see the Destroyer and Edge of Sanity double feature released in April. Hopefully there will be a couple of surprises among the remaining releases.

^ Amazon has Lady In White up for pre-order with a street date of March 15th, but it should be up on the Shout Factory website by now if that were true.

Im really sure Island of Terror would be a big seller since its a Hammer horror - its never had an official disc release in the USA on top of that.
This is incredibly frustrating. We all know Universal has no intent on releasing this film so Scream Factory really is a last hope. Hopefully this is just a *wink wink* not happening decline and not the hard no that Slither got.

The director has previously claimed that Universal seems to have lost the film materials for Tales in the Hood.

There was a big fire at Universal studios in the summer of 2008 that damaged part of their film vault. I think it was mostly theatrical prints that got destroyed, but perhaps Tales was a victim?

Here are some Universal horrors that I'd like to buy from Scream Factory:

THE NIGHT WALKER/DARK INTRUDER (from US vault film elements, not the inferior PAL prints recently released by TCM on MOD)

Or, a William Castle box set with:

THE NIGHT WALKER/I SAW WHAT YOU DID/LET'S KILL UNCLE

Other Universal titles I'd like:

EYE OF THE CAT (both theatrical and US TV versions)
ISLAND OF TERROR
KISS OF THE VAMPIRE (Hammer)

Surely there is a Tales from the Hood print out there somewhere. It's an old movie but it's not ancient. Let Scream Factory take a swing at it. They have found prints before when it was said one wasn't available.

Although, it looks like there is a rental option on Amazon to stream the film in HD, so presumably an HD master does exist.

So TCM 2 is another April title. I can't imagine they'll squeeze any more CE's in there.

I'm very happy they're going to put out very hard to come by thriller YOU'LL LIKE MY MOTHER. It's been on my long-shot list for ages.

Holy crap, Could Universal actually be considering releasing this themselves at some point? I really REALLY don't want to buy a digital version of the film, but if it's actually an HD transfer of the film (even in rough shape) I may just have to. Come on Universal, press this bad boy to disc.

I'd buy a disc day 1 also.

I've watched Tales on cable and it looked pretty great in HD. I was tweeting with the director some months back and he was trying to find a print and I connected him with the Killer POV gang to see if they knew someone who had a print. Of course they did but I don't know if things ever went anywhere from there.

What Channel was it on? I'd love to be able to just DVR/Cap it myself and hold onto that until a possible Blu Ray release if it happened to ever air again. Nice job pointing the director in the right direction for a print... hopefully that means something has come about from that conversation.

It's shown on Showtime and The Movie Channel recently, as in the past month.

Jaws 2 & 3, The Burbs, Slither are off-limits because Uni will likely release them themselves. The same probably goes for Serial Mom since they released it in the UK. Furthermore, they recently also shot down, rather decidedly, Brotherhood of the Wolf. So, yeah, there aren't many Uni's horror titles left around. But, re-releases will save the day for Scream Factory.
With all the great catalog releases over the last few years, I've got to be honest...and nice Jaws boxed set is near the top of my list!
Yes, even the 4th film!

Oh my gosh...Metalstorm!!! I saw that in the movies with my parents when I was a kid...and sought out a VHS copy at a Blockbuster almost an hour away years and years later (when I was old enough to drive).

I have not seen or heard of this film since then and even though it sucked hard, I would purchase it purely for the nostalgia factor.

I did the same thing with Hardware...saw it as a young teen in a local 2 screen theatre around the corner from my childhood home, and one day in 2009 saw that Severin was releasing it on BD!

Shout would be the perfect home for Metalstorm!!

I can one up you there in that I found the UK Serial Mom blu-ray at my local Rasputin Music this last weekend and yes, I agree that it can look a lot better, but as is, its not a bad transfer.
