I'm sure people would like them if there was a marked improvement but it's unlikely any previous release will get a second release.

Some also claimed that Phantasm II was sourced from VHS, but I thought it looked really good.

Before the last couple months, everyone said "they look really good, they don't need a new transfer!!" Now everyone is talking like they suck and need a new scan immediately (and Carrie is getting one!). I was just trying to be cool and fit in!!!

Then again, it seemed like practically everyone decided the original version of EFNY looked better (or that it was basically a wash), so maybe Shout would back off here.

Even if they don't need to give it a new transfer, Shout have plenty of maneuvering room to make a better US edition considering how thoroughly the Arrow trounced the US release in that regard. Arrow hasn't seemed to show much interest in acquiring rights to release their handful of mainstream pics over here, otherwise I'd hope that they'd get the rights to put out the same release here.
I think The Fly could REALLY use a new transfer as the current one is severely underwhelming.

Silent Night Deadly Night is on bluray from Anchor Bay
Many if not all the Paramount titles are with Warner until the end of this year. From there Warner may renew or not renew their deal.
Chopping Mall is coming from Lionsgate according to Jim Wynorski

Looking closer at this list I do see two titles not currently on blu ray which I was told are coming, but haven't been officially announced. And neither are with Scream or Shout Factory. Something to look forward to
Thanks for the clarification on these, was just going from memory late one night when I typed that up.

Wasn't it always with Warner since New Line released it in the pre-Elm Street days?

Anyhow, I do agree Cronenberg's "The Fly" could use a new 4K remaster. The current blu-ray isn't all that great, though I didn't pay a whole lot for it during the Barnes & Noble 40% off blu-ray sale.

The more recent new scans have been done to MGM titles. Universal seems to be more protective of their properties.

Plus if SF starts giving new transfers to titles they released previously, it would cause some to be reluctant about buying any of their titles, always thinking something better will come down the road.

Image released on DVD over a decade ago, they probably sublicensed it from WB - basically its their movie that Image distributed and the rights expired

I'd love to see Urban Legend get the SF treatment. I always considered that the best post-Scream slasher and right now we just have a barebones disc. I'd imagine there's enough material out there to put together a special edition.

And even though it will never happen I'd love to see some of my personal favorite obscure slashers like Iced, Evil Laugh and 555 get the blu-ray treatment

Oh, yeah, I saw a bunch of caps between that and the DVD showing there was very little difference in detail, I think the guy who posted them was implying it was an upscale. I don't have it myself so I forgot about it. I've been waiting for 1 to come out before I think about 2.

Maybe if UHD takes off Shout could get away with re-releases of some of their inferior old titles with new scans, but I think most would be irritated by re-issues of $20 "collector's editions" on normal BDs with the same extras and much better transfers. Even if you or I would buy Darkman again for a new master I bet their business meetings eschew such talk.

People are already complaining that SF is just re-releasing titles that are already out like Rotld, the thing, Carrie...etc. instead of releasing titles that don't have a blu Ray release yet. Imagine the backlash they will get if they start reissuing their older titles with new scans

Someone already complained that SF has been raising the limits on the Deluxe Editions.

Quote:
Dont raise the amount at every deluxe limited edition, first its making them not so limited and secondo that only show that you prefer money than your collectors satisfaction. For the price we pay that would be nice as well to put them in a premium bluray case instead your cheap bluray case that one on two the disc come loose before we receive it... look arrow bluray case, this is real quality.

If it doesn't get a release, you could always import the Germany release.

Either way, I don't see them ever doing more than 2,000 for future LE's if they even decide to do any more. The rarity is what makes it a LE. I'd also like to add that I'll take SF packaging over Arrow's thick cases and no slipcase any day. Lol

I like having cases where it's only one step to get the disc, instead of having to very carefully get the slipcover off and then put it back on afterwards without accidentally getting it stuck on the edge of the plastic sleeve and scrunching the bottom or top of the slipcover! I'm secretly kind of relieved on the rare occasion I get a Shout disc that's missing the slipcover. I don't have to be careful with it when I watch it!

It may as well not come out. The kings of DNR. Maybe this German release is a precursor to a US counterpart. It happened with MOONTRAP. But there's that DNR nonsense again .
